  1. I can't believe she's not been snapped up yet: she looks a very intelligent nice bitch. Just a shame that I've got enough terriers right now or I'd be snapping your arm off to have her. Best of luck in finding her a good working home.
  2. Just wanted to add: if the eyes appear infected or really sore use Fucithalmic ointment after you've washed the eyes out. Its antibiotic and soothing: prescription only but cheaper from the doctor if you say its for YOU!
  3. Sterilises it: not 100% necessary if your'e out in the field but a good idea if possible: don't want to add any unwanted bacteria if the eyeball has been scratched etc.
  4. Get some boiled cooled water and suck it up into a small plastic syringe (without the needle on!) then hold the dog's eyelids as open as possible and flush the eye out GENTLY! Don't blast the eyeball with a hard jet of water: try and get it as far back under the lids as possible, and keep repeating: you'll see long worms of silt/dirt gradually washing out from under the edges of the lids: keep at it until the water runs clear. I do this with my terriers as soon as I get them home.
  5. Good God! that's some valid reason for not answering calls: like the others have said, with your attitude you'll be up and about soon I hope. All the best with everything, and when the going gets tough just remember there's only one way up from down: back to the top!
  6. At least I didn't call you a *******! LOL Stick a pic up of the little fella so we can admire his ears LOL And by the way, one of my terriers wears her ears inside out half the time: I call them her 'go faster' ears: less wind resistance if you see what I mean. Yes they do get some dirt in them to ground, but they all get dirt in their ears digging holes in the yard and rolling about on the ground playing: they also spend time cleaning eachothers' ears too. Best of luck with your pup.
  7. Bloody hell Moll: those are just ace pics! The spider's web is stunning!
  8. Quote:And ive also heard that reducing protein in his diet canhelp lay that ear back down? AAAAAh! Puppies need protein to grow! Is this a show dog? Does it really matter if it does? Do foxes get crap in their ears cos they stand up? They go to ground too you know. The ear is only likely to stand up if the pup's ancestors' ears stand up. And like has already been said: pups ears are all over the place until they have their second teeth through.
  9. Don't worry about it: I'm going to phone all the qualifiers tomorrow night to reassure you all that there will be passes on the gate in your names if you've qualified: I actually got some post today so they might still arrive in time, but if they don't, don't sweat! Just give me a bell if your'e worried.
  10. Quote: Why anyone would go beating when they could work there own dogs / ferrets is beyond me... If your into hounds lurchers ferrets aint you got your fingers in enough pies?? Going beating for £20 could make more ferreting for yourself.. whatever floats your boat and all but its certainly not for me. I've got all sorts of new permission and contacts from going beating: it works wonders when the guns see that you have controllable dogs on the beating line and you then ask for permission. Plus all my terrier work has come from beating on various shoots: it wou

    Help!

Thanks for all your replies folks: got sorted now.
  12. Oi Magpie: I'm only just up the road as you know! Your'e welcome to come over any time on our extensive permission and I no longer run through a field of bunnies to get to a charlie! LOL Give us a bell any time you want to go out, or want to invite me out!
  13. I beat on a few local shoots, and they welcome reasonably under control dogs, but these are small shoots were everyone chips in to pay the beaters: these are not big paying shoots and all the guns know eachother well and the beaters: we're the same team year after year. £20 per day: on one of the shoots we get a slap up barbecue lunch as well and more at the end of the day with free wine and beer!! I use 3 terriers and a lurcher who gets the chance to flush a few hares and foxes as well. Obviously the terriers are only used on land where they're not likely to find an earth, but as th

    Help!

I just spoke to the rep from Jansenn Animal Health who make Flubenvet: the stuff he reccomended is the Flubenvet Keeper Pack: 240gm tub for around £20. 5gm per 4 kilos of feed every day for 4 days is what he told me. (That's a gently rounded teaspoonful by the way.) And you don't have to throw the eggs out while your'e treating the birds.

    Moving

I wish you the best of luck in your move: funnily enough we were thinking of moving out that way: but luckily we were told that they weren't going to knock our house down after all! LOL I'ts so much more laid back out West and the people are really friendly: didn't see that many rabbits kicking about though when we went over for a visit. It's a scary thing upping sticks and moving: the permission thing can be a b*stard: all those years of making contacts and getting known in an area only to have to start from scratch> best of luck!

    Help!

Cheers Groverdog: but how much would you put in, say, a litre of water? That's the bit I was worried about and overdosing them? I've pmed you my phone number.
  17. What classes are you after: or just wanting to know? Unfortunately I don't have one on my computer as I'm not involved with the main show: I'll see if I can get something sent over to me from the printers and I'll put it up.

    Help!

As it says: I'm after a wormer for my bantams and layers. The only one I can find is the pheasant wormer called Flubenvet: the one that's generally sold for pheasants etc. Only problem is that it's only available in bottles enough to do a few thousand pheasants!! Does anyone know of anything cheaper, as effective and EASILY obtainable? There's bound to be someone on here as I know a few of us keep poultry: help! I've got one little bird that is looking very run down.
  19. BIG BUMP for this Sunday...........it famously pours with rain a few days before this show, but only once in 21 years have I known it actually rain on the day of the show: that was about 17 years ago! The sun usually shines on this showground LOL.
  20. Come and say hi! The birds are doing fine: thanks! Plenty of poultry to have a look at in the big sheds at this show, and a lot for sale as well.
  21. Don't you mean more good than harm? If you've just got the pups at 8 months old: what sort of an upbringing did they have before you got them? If they've not been out of the kennel much, or at all, then expect them to be slower to get going than if they'd been out in the fields from little pups.
  22. Once again: great pics: good to hear she's coming round a bit LOL
  23. That's good! Not easy to sneak up on them like that.
  24. Just brilliant: ;that really does sum it up perfectly: no wonder its a minefield for those starting out! :
  25. If I'm not mistaken, barbed wire is just about all there is to jump in Oz; so a dog needs to learn how do to it or not keep up with it's quarry.
