The best Rook shooting Ive had was on layed Barley, they were suicidal. Ive found not getting out the hide unless you have to helps. They are clever but hopelessly curious.its strange really, many people looking for permission, would get some where by offering to shoot crow / rook, they are a massive problem when the crop starts to turn, or when the lambs are in the fields, and not many people put the time in with them, compared to say pigeon's, or rabbits, and if you do a decent job they will let you shoot the rest of the vermin, it's a way of gaining trust, they are a really good way in, I e

Calls seem to work best in spring time for me, or in a wood, I shoot loads of crow, they are easy to decoy, but they learn or get wise, its better not to set up in the same place too often, or too frequently, the Devils in the detail with them, good hide good face mask, and a few decoys and you are in business, I like to travel light I hate carrying loads of kit, I have just tried a electric flapper, and they work really well, with maybe 4 full bodied decoys out in a patch in the edge of a barley field, great sport,

I am going to get one in spring, I could do with both the 410/ and either the 12 or 20, they seem to be hard to find second hand, and when you do find them, the price isn't much better than new, I am told the 20 is far better than the 12 but you don't see the cartridge selection in the 20 bore,as in heavy stuff,

I have met the man,and He is a very decent bloke, and as said above missed on here,

When you look at a lot of these callers, they are made up mainly for the American market, and it's a mine field on what to buy, I have always used mouth caller's or my hand, but do fancy a good caller, but they know how to charge for them, could do with some websites to search,

Keep it clean, and change the gas seal every twelve month or so, I have had one for a few yr now and it fits the bill of a vermin gun, doesn't seem to mind what I feed it on, from 3 inch magnum BB's down, the early ones were poor to say the least, the newer guns are far better, I have other shotguns which I use, but use this gun gets all the shit work and it takes the abuse well, each to his own,

Botham is right, and the BBC is a public organisation, and is duty bound to all its license fee paying public, and not a sounding block for bigoted dictators, it is not impartial, and as such should be banned, from reporting on the subject, they are employing extremists, who are hell bent on taking away the rights of country people, We are becoming a minority, and the BBC seem hell bent on supporting there bigoted views, bloody organisation wants disbanding, they are a law unto themselves, unaccountable for there actions, WELL DONE SIR IAN -
I knew a bloke from Barnsley, who used one all the time for deer, he was a guy I had the greatest of respect for, he swore by them and had them as in both stalking, and target rifles, back then the police were cautious of the caliber, it being a military round but that was before the restriction on expanding ammo, he was adamant nothing killed deer like one,I must admit I don't think I have come across anyone else stalking with one, and I have stalked around 30 yr , I remember him butching some red hinds he brought back, and to be fare there wasn't a abnormally large amount of carcass damage,

Are you stalking open hill or woodland, when it comes to following up, as in blood scenting, a lab will do anything you need, however most people go with pointer breeds, it's down to your own preference, I have tried pointers, and love them, I have tried teckle terriers and love them, I have seen a jack Russell follow up on blood, and it was spot on, in truth any dog will follow up on blood, it's not a task for a select few, most dogs I have handled will do it, for me if you have a particularly quiet Labrador, one that is spacialy aware when you are walking, good at heal and will sit quietly,

he's 22 inch tts and around 22 kg , I bought him as a cattle dog lurcher x to a racing whippet, the exact mix I cannot be 100 % sure, the previous owner led me to believe the cattle dog lurcher was first cross, I got him at around 14 wk old, he was running wild in a there house, he's never been a minutes trouble with me, but with me he's out daily, I will admit the last lurcher I had owned was 1985, and apart from swimming which he will do, he out hunts most dogs I have owned, but it gives me a dilemma, as in what to breed him with,

sorry mate it is cattle dog x

Try red hyper chloride from your farm supply shop, cheap to buy, and very good, dilute it to required strength.

Sounds like a real hard B****d this bloke, some one wants to let the prison know where he's heading to, interesting to see his face then,it's the most unatural thing to do to hurt a child, in my opinion,

Good to see the old guns get a go,

I have often wondered if someone took a back hander to ban lead shot, you know how companies like to bring out new products from time to time, and let's be fair the evidence wasn't there, to base there case on informed decisions based on facts,

Yeah because a wild animal is guilty of murder. Should it be put on trail and be hung?the animal was acting naturally I never said it wasn't, it's still bad on the family though, and if it was my child I would want to find it and sort it, and in some ways the parents should know better, these animals are prolific over there, however it now has a taste for people, it has no fear of people, so something needs to be done,to make the animal safe, or make people safe from the animal,
