  1. it doesn't look workhorse to me, more hairdresser if I am honest
  2. its always a issue that, but,on really big sets I have seen me run one through the middle, cutting the set in half,
  3. Good on you taking the time with these lads, people like you, are a credit to the sport, they will look up to you now as a role model, and that's not a bad thing, great write up too,
  4. quick sets are good as your literally just walk them out and back in when done, the bag is set consistently between the poles which are the fix points, are carried within a basket, however the bag will be hung from the rear of the pole, which isn't a issue in daylight, as in when setting around warren's, at night though it may mean walking up the hedge or fence and laying the net backwards, towards the point of entry into the field, I know people may think it makes no difference, if the rabbit hits the back of the net,and in truth I don't know as I always make sure, my net comes out the bask
  5. The thing with them is home work, as said above set in the right place deadly, set under sweet chestnut tree, or in front of a freshly cut thorn hedge in the early hours of the morning, with no moon can be a frigging nightmare, the pro's to ferreting though, when there's big open set's are massive, you arn't walking over your holes as much, disturbance is kept to a minimum, traditional or quick set is a matter of personal preference, I keep both as my backs knacked and I find traditional better for carrying,I have no preference to oz weight, as regards holding the rabbit but the heavier weigh
  6. yep get a spade or two in there,
  7. There saying it's a revamped Nissan navara, I don't like the thought of that I never liked the navara,
  8. It would be good, to get access to the American suppliers, but as said above postage is horrendous,
  9. Tradition like that must never die, really good to see the respect given, to the dogs, thanks Blaise.
  10. That was good to watch,we all have our ways right or wrong, but there wasn't any waste left there which was good,
  11. Really good work again mate well done,
  12. I have had a firearms ticket 30 year, and it's the longest I have ever waited Tremo, I am usually quite happy with the process,I have a variation in for another .22 at the same time, but nothing out of the ordinary, spoke to them last week and they say it might be xmas/ Jan,
  13. Yeah, just try a box before you buy loads. You might be lucky. will do still waiting for my ticket renewed, it's been in since June,
  14. Anyone tried them Winchester varmint xe, or at the other end of the scale them cci CB shorts
  15. Tremo I am glad you said that about the new 42 grain ones, I was going to get some for my cz, my license is in for renewal at the moment,so I couldn't get some when I was in, will stick to normal winchester subs, after hearing that,my rifle did like RWS though, but it's maintaining a consistent supply, I think eleys have always been more waxy than the others, with quite a gritty powder residue, I never put them through my semi auto beacause of it, but they were good in my bolt action, I Could do with some decent high velocity rounds, but I have little experience with them , I have tried the odd
  16. Big bar of coal tar soap, or any strong smelling soap, put that in cage first every time, and let him bite it, then make sure you wash your hands with the same soap, every time before you handle him, so he associates the smell with your hand, the smell will link to the memory of the taste, it usually works for me, one of the issues you see are people over handling them, ie for too long, they get pissed off, being held in one place, they can be busy little animals and some get bored easily, if that fails, the alternative has already been mentioned,
  17. Yes mate the flea carries the virus, there's different strains of the virus, some strains the rabbit has built a immunity to, that's the way I understand it,
  18. There's supposed to be 7 strains of mixi, as I was led to believe, but only two kill, maybe they have had a weaker strain,we have had it here, this last month in very isolated pockets, which is shit really as we have had it bad last two yr, the bright side is they may be breeding through it, as the population is bouncing back, and I have seen no more signs of it anywhere else around me,
  19. them vids make mine look crap, I think I need to join that forum, even the day shots are a lot better, I have to have the lens cover on, and turn the brightness right down, and still get crap imagery, it is good at night though, but not as crisp as yours.do you have it focused properly,i have to focus mine different for night to daytime use i use an add on ir its a cheap t67,it cost me 25 quid i can see foxes easily at 350 yards in the dark ,they take a bit of getting use to but just persevere and you will get there,wfI have a T50 on mine with ir pill but I don't use it that often, don't part
