I HAVE KEPT TERRIERS INDOORS AND OUTDOORS. I HAVE A LITTLE RUSSELL BITCH HERE WHICH I BRED AND SHE HAS SLEPT ON MY BED FOR IO YEARS.AND THEN I BECAME REALLY ILL AND SPENT 9 MONTHS IN HOSPITAL AND THE LITTLE BITCH NEVER STOPPED WAITING FOR ME. I BELEIVE IN TOTAL OBEDIENCE. MY DOGS WOULD NEVE BITE ANYONE AND ESPECIALLY CHILDREN....IT DOESN'T MATTER WHETHER ONE WANTS TO KEEP DOGS INDOOR OR OUTDOORS. HOWEVER, LONG COATED BREEDS OR BREEDS THAT MOULT EXCESSIVELY THAT MAY BE A PROBLEM.....WHY SHOULDN'T DOGS MIX WITH KIDS?

What Camera do you use when you are Ferreting? Do the guys mainly use compacts for ease of use or any SLRS?Be interested to hear from anyone what they use. Also I do know that the Deer Stalkers use the Binoculars which are a must in their situations. However, do any of the Ferreting guys or Terriermen take Binoculars with them?Through many years of experience I have used all types and rarely do I leave them at home. It is remarkable what success a good pair can do in many a Hunting situation and also the joy one get's also.

DEAR TANK, MANY THANKS FOR HIGHLIGHTING THE SITUATION REGARDING THE CERTAIN WEBSITE ON FACEBOOK. I HAVEN'T LOOKED IT UP YET BUT IT NEEDS REPORTING AND BRINGING TO A HALT IMMEDIATELY. THEN THEY SAY THEY LOVE ANIMALS; THEY CERTAINLY 'HATE' THE HUNTING FRATERNITY.TANK, YOU MADE SOME VERY TRUE STATEMENTS REGARDING THESE VARMINTS. ACCIDENTS CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE, NOT JUST OUT IN THE HUNTING FIELD.A FRIEND OF OURS DIED SOMETIME BACK WHILE OUT FERRETING AFTER WORKING THE FERRETS IN SOME SANDY PLACES WHEN A CAVE IN OCCURED. HE LIVED IN IRELAND AND WAS AN EXPERT FERRETER AND HUNTER.HE SUFFOCATED AND WAS

DID YOU MANAGE TO FIND A COPY OF THE FALCONRY BOOK? REGARDS DOCTOR DOLITTLE..........

ANY EXPERIENCED PERSON WILL TELL YOU TO KEEP AWAY FROM GOSHAWKS AS BEGINNERS BIRDS. THEY ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT TO HARRIS HAWKS, REDTAILS AND SO-CALLED OTHER BIRDS OF PREY.IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MANNING PROCESS AND EVEN IMPRINTS ARE NOT THE EASIEST TO GET GOING.AT THE END OF THE DAY THE END RESULT IS TO TAKE QUARRY CONSISTENTLY WITH YOUR BIRD. IN MY OPINION I WOULDN'T WANT ANY BIRDS THAT ARE REALLY EASY; THE CHALLENGE IS EVERYTHING! HOWEVER, LET'S NOT CALL HARRIS HAWKS, REDTAILS OR WHATEVER.TO PUT IT SIMPLE, JUST LIKE DOGS, IF THE OWNER IS HAPPY AND SATISFIED THEN THE BIRD OR DOG IS GOOD FOR THEM.

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY ABOUT THE FERRETS. FOR MYSELF I CAN TAKE ABOUT HALF A DOZEN GOOD RELIABLE FERRETS,OFCOURSE WHEN THERE IS A CONSIDERABLE POPULATION OF RABBITS ABOUT YOU WILL PERHAPS NEED MORE AS YOU WILL KNOW.FOR MY INTEREST DO YOU WORK HOBS AND JILLS WHEN YOU GO? SOME PEOPLE HAVE PREFERENCES FOR JILLS OVER HOBS AND VICE VERSA; BUT IN MY OPINION I DOESN'T REALLY MATTER. HOWEVER I HAVE SEEN CERTAIN PEOPLE TAKE HOBS WHICH ARE FAR TOO LARGE FOR SERIOUS WORK. I HAVE USED HUNDREDS OF JILLS FOR WORKING RATS BUT THAT IS ANOTHER STORY....... -

LOOKS LIKE SOME GOOD LAND THERE AND ALOT OF RABBITS? LOOKS LIKE YORKSHIRE TO ME, THE GROUND AND SOIL TYPE, PLUS I DON'T THINK THEY ARE DEEP PLACES ALSO.HOW MANY FERRETS DO YOU TAKE ON A DAY FOR SUCH NUMBERS OF RABBITS TO BE CAUGHT ? ALOT OF THE EXPERIENCED GUYS WILL BE AWARE IT CAN BE DIFFICULT SOMETIMES TO OBTAIN GOOD LAND LIKE YOURS.THE LANDOWNERS MUST BE VERY PLEASED. YOURS IN SPORT. DOCTOR DOLITTLE. -

I DID HEAR ABOUT IT FROM MY TWIN BROTHER WHO HAD HUNTED WITH TONY SOME YEARS BACK AND I MET HIM AT THE WELSH GAMEFAIR MANY YEARS AGO. FOR SURE HE WAS A REALLY NICE GUY. IN FACT I HAVE A PHOTOGRAPH OF HIM AND MY TWIN AND SOME OTHER FRIENDS FROM WATERFORD.WE DID LET A FRIEND IN WATERFORD HAVE A SMALL LEMON AND WHITE RUSSELL BITCH THEY NAMED 'MOUSEY' WHICH WAS TRUE UNTIL THE END. GOD BLESS TO TONY. DAVID TWIN..... ENGLAND. -
ALOT OF THE EXPERIENCED FERRETERS WILL BE FULL AWARE TO WHAT CAN BE IN CLOSE PROXCIMITY TO THE RABBIT IN A WARREN OR HOLE. BOLTED FOXES OVER THE YEARS AND IN 1980 WE HAD A VERY GOOD WHITE JILL KILLED BY A LARGE DOG FOX WHICH WAS ACCOUNTED FOR WITH A SMALL RUSSELL BITCH OF MINE 6 FOOT DOWN.THE FOX WAS IN A MAIN TUBE THAT RAN ALONG A LARGE EMBANKMENT AND THE RABBITS WERE LIVING IN THE SMALL OFF-SIDE TUNNELS..... BOLTED TOO MANY RATS TO MENTION AND LIKE ONE OF THE READERS CORRECTLY IMPLIED, RATS CAN BE COMMON IN LOCALITIES WITH WATER ABOUT OR RIVERS OR STREAMS BEING AVAILABLE. TO BE HONEST I CANN

The book hawk for a bush is an all time great and really every Falconer or Austringer should have one in their book collection, Library etc....As the titles states the book is mainly devoted to the Sparrowhawk. However, the Gos gets a mention which is good. the 1st editions nowadays hard to come across being published in 1960.there is a companion book also to hawk for a bush ;called A Falcon in the field devoted entirely to the Long wing hawk. I have a spare copy for sale, but it is expensive. But well worth having in ones collection. Please let me know if you want any particular title for you

IT IS GREAT TO SEE TERRIERMEN AND THE HUNTING FRATERNITY HELPING EACH OTHER OUT. PRETTY SOON I MAY NEED A YOUNG LAD AS AN ASSISTANT TO HELP ME WITH THE FOXES. USUALLY I TRAVEL ALONE AND HAVE STUDIED FOXES FOR YEARS. MY BROTHER HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY COMPANION OUT IN THE FIELDS; BUT FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS I HAVE BEEN VERY ILL WITH PANCREAS. TO BE HONEST I WOULD WANT TO MEET THE PERSON IN QUESTION AND TO GET TO KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT THEIR BACKGROUND, (HONESTY) ON MY LIST IS HIGH AND A GOOD PERSONALITY WOULD HELP. EXPERIENCE ISN'T EVERYTHING , WE ALL HAVE TO LEARN. OF COURSE I WOULD BE WILLING TO TO T -
