Nice dog, I could see that being a good all rounder. I have 3/4 apbt 1/4 staff, he's getting on now though at 13 and had a surprising amount of pace in his younger days. Wish I'd had a pup off him, very stable temp. His hips are going though, this last year he has slowed right down, struggles to get up stairs or into the car.

Isn't it. The vet I saw was quite young and it took out back for another vet to examine. Two minutes later they conclusively diagnosed a broken knee. You could feel the joint on the bad leg was twice the size of the other. She still managed to sell me some Meloxicam though, which I'm not convinced was needed as I would've thought the pain would stop her from being too active and the swelling would protect it while it healed. In light of this I would suggest people speak to the nurse before booking an appointment and explore all options with the vet before agreeing to expensive procedures.

Another update. The ferret is recovering nicely. Shes regaining movement in her leg and it seems to have set in the right place and looks the same as her other one - it was hanging to the side before. Looks like she may be good for work yet. The instructions for the Meloxicam said cats should only receive it for 4 days max as they could die, so I stopped using it on the ferret after 3 days just to be safe. As it is a painkiller and anti-inflammatory I didn't think it would slow her recovery by stopping use early. atb

I was planning on buying a Tracer 140 with a lithium battery @ £225, but as I said it'll be a couple of months before I can afford that. What would you recommend as the cheapest alternative? Bird - is it worth going out at night without a lamp? The dog seems like she only looks 2-3 yards ahead in the dark, the rabbits bolt for cover maybe 10 yards ahead and she doesn't see them, yet I can. During the day you can see her scanning the whole field. When you say night time do you mean around midnight so its properly dark as opposed to dusk? Thanks, atb

It'll be a couple of months before I can afford a lamp so just trying to make the best of it until then. getting in between warren and bunny won't be easy, but I hear what you're saying and will give it a go. People walk dogs in the field too, so the rabbits are probably quite flighty from this. Cheers for taking the time to answer. ATB
