  1. Since I work full time in another professional field, its slightly different as not needing every penny (very very lucky place to be) but equally the pest control must pay and turn a modest profit - I have the same costs as full time, insurance, website vehicle etc etc. £40-£50 per nest is fine, but then will not travel any more than about 20 min to jobs, so earn £40-£50 hour, all good. I also will wait a day or 2 and do jobs together to maximise profit, does not always work, but most times it does. If a customer cant wait, then too bad. Equally I am not in an area where there are lots of
  2. That's silly cheap! You could add £20 to that and still be busy! There's no point being cheap and having to do twice the work for the money you could get for 1 nest. We are more than £36 and get very few refusals!! It's time this industry as a whole learned to charge decent money, you wouldn't get a plumber out for that money. Too many out there working for next to nothing. It's not a dig btw just interesting to see different prices. I think that £40-£50 for 15-20 min work is ok, particulary when several of these jobs could be done daily, true a plumber could be more than thi
  3. I would have a gentle dust around the entrance to try and get rid of few remaining wasps. and charge accordingly. Why anybody would want to dig out wasp nests for fun is beyond me, unless they are a fisherman!! Told that the grubs are great for fishing bait
  4. We would all had said a piece of loose felt, if we had known it only happens when the garage door is opened. We were not party to this info
  5. 3 today, 2 booked in for tomorrow, plus a cheeky one noticed when getting chips for tea, popped note on back of flyer, hey presto they phoned today, cer ching
  6. These days for councils to keep pest council, then they must be profitable
  7. Our council do a pest control service, but strangely state it takes up to 5 days for a wasp treatment to take effect and 14 days for fleas and bedbugs!!!
  8. Could you put a wildlife motion camera above ceiling to capture any movement? Could it be a water pipe vibrating against something else to produce the noise? or near the tile you lifted and that is why the noise stopped Poltergeist??? :icon_eek: :icon_eek: :icon_eek: :icon_eek:
  9. Nice One Clive, glad you have your priorities right - fishing
  10. This is the best advice here, this is what I would do, recomendation is everything, happy hunting
  11. Very true Phil, you need the ability talk to the customer at a profesional level , and at the time you state, otherwise it wont matter how wonderful you are at the task, you will not be recommended to others
  12. I agree, often takes me longer to put on the PPE than do the job. Got to make the job last at least 10 min for the £45- £50 fee
  13. I normally use Ficam W as my general insect spray. I won a box of PelGar Cytrol Forte WP at an NPTA event and yet to use My question: Cytrol Forte WP is for general crawling insects and resting flying insects. But does not specifically mention carpet pests, eg carpet beetle or clothes moth, whereas ficam mentions carpet pests. Could you/would you use Cytrol against carpet pests on the grounds that they crawl - wooly bears/larvae and adults fly at some stage of life?? Of course could ask Pel Gar, but thought would gauge your thoughts first
  14. After a difficult wasp job yesterday, in which I used my old and trusted "Duststick" but needed the poles horizontal and found it hard to hold in correct angle and pump at same time, whilst lying flat in confined space So looked at the xl 8 lance and dr5 duster. Would any duster fit the lance or is it specific to the dr5? See Killgerm doing both for £260+ vat £312 quite an outlay
  15. Having a web presence is a must these days, help the work trickle in. Do not need any thing fancy, just the basics. They can be as cheap or expensive as you want, just 1 page or many
  16. No No No A targeted quick crack and crevice treatment will have the desired effect and keep the canteen manager happy. (repeat business) Gels are good but takes 12 hours between consumption and death, hence what i did Cant see a huge problem with this. ps... Did I mention spraying when open?? Think not
  17. Glad to hear that the pest controller you had, left verbal and written instructions - that is how it should be done, I tend to gel within the house, spay if a temporary quick effect is needed eg works canteen then come back and gel when closed I do my own safety data sheet, as you really only need little sections of the original. The official one is talking about large wagon sized loads rather than an individual with 1 sachet dilluted in 2.5/5 litres water
  18. Where ever possible, I try and locate where the wasps are entering from outside and dust this, rather than tackle the nests in the loft. Works for me
  19. Since the pest control market is fairly limited, then prices go up, Sell less but charge more per item . eg the xl8 lance - yes it may be a good piece of kit, but its only fibreglass poles cheap as chips, how can they justify such a high price? Answer above
