trooperman replied to dave1372's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
yea there is still a lot of love out there for old charlie and i get out when i can but working for a lot of the farmers around here am kept busy keeping the machinary running (Class service engineer)my wife has made me a pair of fantastic trousers out of fox skins and my neighbour who is a bit of a T--T said to me a while ago people who shoot foxes should be shot them selves they have a new baby my reply to him was this if some one broke into your house and attacked your baby what woul you do,,,,,his reply kill them ,,,,,me if a wild animal came into your garden while your new baby was in the -
the best backstop and saftey is you ,,,put your self in the position of some one walking on the path you mention and then look around ask your self then what looks safe and then take it from there,,, the other thing is if the land is only 12 acres with a path running through it you may find it will not be passed but if your FLO goes over it with you think before you answer any of the questions he/she may ask and dont forget to make sure you often say safety is your main intention. paul

i use them all the time and i reload with the V-max they are good and as said charlie hates them 3,400fps depends on your barrel length i have chronoed mine with 26grns 4895 through a 21" barrel and am getting around the the 3,650 mark but yes they are very good. forgot to mention at 9 quid a box i wish i lived down there box of 20 up in Cambridgeshire is 24 quid box of 20 so if you want to buy a load i will buy them from you at a profit to you will give you 15 quid a box. paul

hi would agree with some answers but you must remember you only get what you pay for ,,there is plenty of good scopes on the market some beter for day use some ok at night but if lamping is going to be the mainstay of the shooting you do need good glass the Burris made for the quad is not made by Burris but they do allow there name on the tube it is made in some far of country,,i have an American Burris and it is very very good bright at night and during the day easy as clear as my Leupolds if your mate has already bought his rifle he should try and save a bit more for a good second hand name

the problem is my friend is that it is a clone any one wanting to buy a Leupold will not buy a clone simple as im affraid paul

BASC or Countryside Alliance
trooperman replied to Whitby_Sam's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
i used to be with the BASC but price rises and the fact that reading the small print they both offer the same they both work for the sport they both do what they say they will apart from the fact BASC charges 40 quid more i more thing you need to ask your self though is with all the bad press the BASC have had lately (to much to go into ) why are so many big shooting names leaving the BASC and going to NGO,CA,and a few others you have to ask your self are they working for the shooting man now or collecting funds for more communication centre's I left BASC and am now with the CA. paul -
i just ask if there is any spare shooting going but i do take my FAC & SGC also my CA insurance card and other permission letters this works for me. paul
