  1. Thats a shame mate, it must be terrible to save up all year for the family holiday, only for it to be a nightmare. The funny thing is, you can have 20 excellent holidays between now and another 20 years, but when there's a family get together and someone mentions holidays, guess which one is remembered? I'm trying to forget it at the mo mate but in 20 years I maybe able to laugh about it...... maybe
  2. I'd argued for Cornwall, but the missus won......... she wont again lol
  3. Never been so glad to be back in old Blighty, went to Vendee on the west coast of France and stayed on a Euro camp, in a caravan. After getting a little lost from Roscoff , 7 hrs after the ferry docked we arrived. The caravan was tiny and the missus and 3 kids + me crammed ourselves in then the fun started, started with my youngest girl getting sick, then my lad and then me I've never felt so trapped we spent 3 days without going anywhere, but the toilet, eventually we had to go doctors, that was fun, £ 3hrs and £100 later and we were back in the caravan dosed up to the eyeballs wit
  4. I think it's as nice as cod. Nice fish that one mate, did he catch it on the old style centre pin in the back ground if so that would of took some reeling in. they're 1:1 ratio arent they?
  5. Love trotting a river with a stick float, ( probably my favourite method) I use a close faced reel I've wanted a decent centre pin for years but never got one ( stingy bast**d lol). If your new to it remember to keep mending your line so it lies behind the float and not running on infront as this will affect the presentation also hold the float back a little and then let it run on, you'll be suprised how many bites you get straight after holding your float back a bit. feed little and often once you got them competing for it, it can be mental..................... I fancy a day on the river now
  6. Thats what I was trying to say in my post, that's how I remember it exactly, romantic or not. well said
  7. Had a salmon a few months back caught with a fox snare by an old poacher round here, was fortunate to sart as a lad with " old poachers", taught respect, loved to see wildlife not just kill it, it was an adventure not a killing spree. I'm thankful for a correct education, and still love to see an owl a badger whatever at night and find a nest or see a weasel ect in the day.The old lads understod nature and the countryside and their game bag was never empty.
  8. no worries mate...hope she does you proud this season....i'll keep you posted..thanks..all the best..chris.. Cheers mate

  11. Nice looking dog mate, like the sound of that mix too, something like that in the future for me I think
  12. I mean small side lol she's only 5 months mate got a fair bit of growing to do yet... mines not the biggest but she's quick and agile which I think are good attributes for a rabbiting dog, I'm sure in time yours will do you proud.
  13. What a sensible reply Running dog x other breed usually collie or terrier breeds....... good ones catch stuff, bad ones get bullshitted about
  14. Well said mate, I know what I want for my lad................on the other hand I could really do with a new telly
  15. I think there's a difference between a bit of exaggeration ( i'm a life long fisherman I know ) and out and out bullshitting, used to have a labourer working for us and in the end I couldn't handle the lies, it was constant and got embarrassing in the end. I think his best was he told some lads on site he was in the special forces in the first gulf war..... he was younger than me and I was at school when that kicked off , now if he was a dogman what an animal he would own. :toast:
  16. The world is full of bullshitters not just the dog game, don't see the point myself you'll get found out in the end.
  17. my parents split when I was around 6, I moved to Bristol with my mum after a while would come back for weekends to see my Dad, his labourer, would take me out ferreting, lamping, fishing, bird nesting everything. Ended up spending every weekend at his house hardly sleeping then spending all week waiting to get back and start again. He was a huge influence in my life and like a 2nd dad to me and my brother, he had unbelievable patience with us and made every weekend an adventure. He sadly passed away earlier this year I miss him every day, but am so grateful to him.
  18. Met mine in a nightclub, and fancied the hell out of her, we were both in relationships, didn't see her for a while but then bumped into her again just knew she was the one, that was nearly 11 years ago, married with 3 kids now, and still fancy her.
  19. I love to have a drink in good company some of my best times have been out with the lads on a sesh........ but some of my worst times have been a result of being out on the piss, things happen when your drunk that wouldn't happen sober ( that next day feeling is a killer). Never drink at home drinking for me is socialising, would rather have a cuppa at home. I haven't had a drink now for 6 weeks which is the longest time for me since i was about 17, trying to get fit for one more season of football, then pulled my calf in training, think it's time to knock it on the head........... and start d
