  1. "ozziedoggers" I would've been concerned posting on a site with that name Glad it went well mate there's decent people in the hunting world, all is not lost
  2. Sonds like you've got good friends here and made good friends whilst away, exactly how it should be
  3. i agree mate but tonight would be a big waste of time wher i am the moon is bright as a mofo take them out tomorow and monday same as yaself We're posting at the same time mate but obviously thinking along the same lines
  4. its like broad dayligh art ther tonight mate got two pups runing dont wont them to hunt up eaven my old one would do it tonight Same for me mate my pup is coming on well, but still like to stack things in her favour, the winds are coming and she'll benifit tomorrow
  5. Full moon and hardly any wind, yet, here. Think it's gonna be tomorrow night and mon night for me. Although I agree if you only go out in perfect conditions you wont go out much.
  6. I'm gonna try this with my pup, her retrieve is not good enough and I can see the sense in this. I've done the conventional thing with balls and dummy and she's fine, but she's not so good with live rabbits. She's a nervy type and I think this could help this too, she will let go of anything on command so I don't think this will be a problem. I'll let you know how we get on
  7. Looks a real smart motor that mate, if you dont mind me asking what sort of money do you look for for a disco like the one pictured! PM me if prererred. That is smart mate that would be perfect
  8. I wouldn't go for a shogun or pajero mate had 2 pajeros and 1 shogun over the last 10 years and each one the engine blew, The last one is sat on the drive dead all seem to have a problem with the head and end up on the side of the road in a steaming like a huge kettle. Think I'd go for a toyota or landy personally, depending on money.
  9. I would be very circumspect were I to run without permission on the fens ,having my dogs confiscated, my car crushed and, a hefty fine does not immediately appeal. I guess I am just not, "Ultimate Predator" material.
  10. Well done mate thats a good bag, gave mine a rest last night after ferreting sunday and lamping monday night be at em again either tonight or tomorrow
  11. Nice one mate good bag that, sounds like the pups doing well
  12. Well done mate, don't forget your wet weather gear tonight
  13. Thanks for the replies lads J Darcy: I know what you mean about stinging eyes, I'm trying to price work but the head aint there......... and the winds up and I got a load to do tomorrow...Why does work always get in the way. Simmonrocco: Get yourself some waterproofs theres bad weather all week
  14. thanks mate , you are spot on with your thread, they are alot more agile than what they look. And as you say at his size not really a rabbit dog but will get a few. And what he really bred for he is doing Brill He's not my dog so I can't comment too much, but he's impressed me when we've been out, not had much experiance of bull bred dogs and I was suprised at how versatile they could be.
  15. Well don Zac Good luck tonight mate, I might venture out again tonight, ferreted sunday and out last night till late so might give her a night off......... it's just this wind is forcing me out.
  16. Nice one Bill, I bet you'r well chuffed. Yeah she was good last night. We saved her a bit for the 2nd bit of permission as the thy're smaller fields. But the grass was a bit too long in a few of the fields, so I wish we had ran her more in the first bit, but that's life. There was no mixy at all in those last night I've only had a couple over the summer as well, hopefully be a good year.
  17. Well done ray and tod, coming on well . I had the "pleasure" of walking my mates bull cross last night for a bit, he is one strong dog and is constant on the lead, He had a few rabs last night and although he is definately a lump he can move and turn well, not what you would call a rabbiting dog but he does well enough for sure.
  18. Don't know skycat at all, but I always think her posts are thought out and helpful and obviously come with years of experiance. I can't see how anyone could knock her input into this site, as all I've seen from her posts is help and advice. I hope over the next few months when my dog is making me tear my hair out for one reason or another, and I ask for advice shemay come to my rescue
  19. Perfect weather last night so me and a mate decded to long net a field on his permission and give the dogs a lamp as well. Set the nets in galeforce winds at around 10pm then went back to the van to get the dogs. Took my pup and my mates experianced dog flicked the lamp on and saw a few rabbits bolt to the net 1 sat and my pup put it up ran it for about 30 secs and nailed it in the middle of the field we had 9 in the nets and 1 to the pup . picked everything up and away to the van left my pup there, and took my mates 2 dogs out accross the rest of the permission we had another 10 around ther
  20. Cheers lads Thats what I thought Johnny, dunno if the patience will hold out that long,
  21. Go into your local tackle shop mate 9 times out of 10if your keen and polite they'll be only to happy to help out, as with all types of fishing theres loads of methods, baits ect and different things work on different days/ venues and time of year. You shouldn't go far wrong spinning or plugging at this time of year as the fish are quite active plus you can cover a bit of ground, look for likely looking spots, weed beds, rushes, alongside boats, roots, ect. Pike are ambush pedators ( in the main) so attack from cover, cast alongside the cover and vary your retrieve rate try to put life into th
  22. Nice bass that mate, Good time of the year now for a few biggies, it's finding time now around lamping and ferretting./ got a trip booked mid oct should be a few about, around this time last year the 2 main estuaries near me produced fish to 9lb off the shore so I'll have to make time. Glad you had a nice trip mate
