I don't think the Chelini or Ramos type player would play as high a line to rely on VAR offside decisons mate, they want to defend in the truest form, tackle, hold, grapple, fight etc.. stepping up on the halfway line aint exactly their style.. so I think we are in the same boat as ever against those types and that's unlocking them, we certainly have the players for it... I think they've both retired now havent they? not sure,.. but there ain't many of those types about...

We probably see it very similarly mate, I agree with your sentiment entirely, I'm just looking at it very factually and with "normal world" hat on... but like you say we could go round in circles whilst probably thinking very much the same way! lol
-
I never liked the 2 defensive midfielder system either mate, but just off the Belgium game he didn't play that, only Rice held. I don't think Foden had a very good game to be honest, that happens, Mainoo and Bellingham shined and Maddison looked good when he came on. I agree though, Southgate has come as far as he can and the next man has the golden opportunity of a lifetime. I hope (obviously) we win the Euros, and I think we will look back on this period as Englands transition from old to new, we are now producing the type of players we always wanted to, I get that comes from the clubs but t

Not exactly mate, the woman herself has made the decision, and had his kid... if an immigrant rapes a woman she aint having his kid and settling down. I also see how the younger generation behave and there doesn't seem to be the same sort of code of conduct/morals from previous generations, men and woman act differently and its more of a take what you want when you want, look at tinder etc, just meet up anytime for sex, it's just different times... again I'm not saying he isn't a c**t, he could well be, he might not be...she ultimately made the call

Could well be mate, she could be shacked up on an estate with some scum bag knocking her about and smoking weed all day and acting the gangster all night... or she could be sunning herself wanted for nothing whilst putting up with another scum bag of sorts... I guess she chose the option which suited her best... it could be he was a complete c**t once, over stepped the mark in a heated moment within a relationship, she reacted badly and then decided it was a one off, "he's actually OK and I want to have a family with him"... who knows? but the facts are he wasn't found guilty and she dropped t
-
I didn't think he was actually charged, not checked so not disagreeing, but the end result is the same, whether charges were dropped or none raised he wasn't found guilty, for everyone else that should be it, but for him he's been f****d off to some back water in Spain and can't play for his country... whilst he builds a family with his accuser, surely she is the only one who should have a strong opinion on his actions and it would seem like she's made her decision clear....
-
The thing he was accused of never went much further than an investigation, I don't think he was ever charged, I'm not defending his morals or the type of man he appeared to be, but he hasn't been charged with anything let alone found guilty... and to add to that he's got a baby with the girl and the live in Spain together as a family.,.. What keeps being repeated from UTD is the womans team wouldn't be happy if he came back, WTF.. when did the womans team have a say on what goes on, it's virtual signalling at its finest at the cost of a career of one of the best talents we have in the country

In the first 10 minutes we got at them mate, scored early and then really started to sit back, I agree with Gnash on this one that the line should have stayed high and kept that up for the first 60 minutes at least, forget who was playing for a minute, you know as well as me that sometimes its clicking and you can really hurt a team in that spell, you sense it.. It felt like the lads didn't sense that and resorted to defending a lead, Chellini should definitely have had a red for dragging back Saka, but thats the margins in a final and it don't matter what we say Italy were smarter, more expe
-
Regards tournament football and swashbuckling football, that really is my point, I don't see how Southgate sets his teams up as negative, perhaps when he was using Rice and Phillips to sit, yes, but now he throws everyone forward apart from the 2 centre backs and Rice... like you say someone has to do that "donkey" role and Rice is the best for it, think Makele, DeChamps, Dunga etc all let the real flair players play, but Rice is possibly a better player than all of them so it's a win win in my book.., I really like Toney mate, he tries stuff others don't has that real arrogance about him
-
Exactly the same mate, unfortunately we have a wood fired hot tub in the holiday cottage so I have to cut year round for the guests, it don't look right have a ton of off cuts of 4x2 sticking out of the log store, well that's what I'm told by "er indoors" lol !

Kane didn't play against Belgium mate, they played Ivan Toney who's touch and passing was very good, won and scored a penalty, to be honest it looked like he had been playing as a number 9 for England a lot longer than 2 games! Agreed on Kane, his partnership with Son was brilliant, Kane come deep and Son run off him, he does similar for England with the likes of Saka and Rashford running off him but I think he plays a lot higher up the pitch. Bellingham and Mainoo were outstanding the other night mate, they had absolutely freedom to go where they wanted, Rice played the number 6 rol

All really good points mate, and hard to disagree with, and you have as much right as anyone to talk tactics amongst shit kickers like us, you probably watch more football than most, loads of lads I've played with haven't a clue, they don't watch the game like that... I didn't see the Brazil game, but I didn't think the Belgium game was defensive, Bellingham and Mainoo rotated constantly and Belgium were chasing shadows in midfield, Rice is sacrificed for this agreed, plus as keep saying we play with very high full backs, Gomez and Chillwell were in the last 3rd more than the first 3rd m
-
It's not the back 4 mate, we have great full backs, walker, Shaw, Chillwell, Alexander-Arnold etc... but our centre backs are prone a mistake hence my point on Rice being constant cover, although I'd say most teams play like this now as the full backs make up the attacking numbers and even come into midfield (look at Man City for instance). I just don't see it being ultra defensive personally, but I may be in a minority. Agreed on playing players who aren't playing for clubs, I'd say Maguire has never let England down and has been decent when fit for UTD this year, Stones has to play imo

Mines only got a bit of saluki in her and you've described her to a tee.. absolute twat of a dog, and looks like butter wouldn't melt..lol

Tim Tzu fighting early hours Sunday, next fight being lined up to fight Crawford, that could be a cracker!

I'm the same mate, I prefer Thai to Chinese, there are a few authentic Chinese place here (huge amount of Chinese at Exeter University so a couple of places really cater to it), I prefer them, the bog standard Chinese take away I tend to avoid, pretty bland imo.

Scotts is in Mayfair mate, the place where Nigella Lawsons ex gave her a slap years ago... It has a massive ice bunker in the middle of the restaurant, great seafoodonly thing is half the stuff has travelled there from Devon or Cornwall so I feel a bit of a mug driving 200 miles to eat the stuff I can catch minutes away!!! lol
-
@mackem If you like Indian food Benares in Mayfair is well worth a look, 1 star place but doesn't scrimp on portions... we went a couple of years back, also went to Sindhu in The Complete Angler in Marlow, its Attul Kuttchers place...food is fantastic and lovely spot to eat..
-
Love going to Scotts if we are in London, great food and great for people watching.. will definitely look up this place next time Mack, cheers

Oh yeah, you all went there one time and had the Fruits de Mer when we were at the comp, that was with Bud wasn't it? We popped in on the way back from the Warren a few weeks back, i ended up having the gumbo which was nice but instantly regretted not having mussels, I don't often order them anywhere else tbh.
-
Nowhere better for mussels than the Anchor mate, been there since I was a kid, used to have a boat in that little harbour until some twat nicked the bung and it ended up upside down.. my mate went past on the train and saw it, rang me up and told me it was the wrong way up and the tide was in... it was f****d! lol
-
Genuine question on that lads, Who and what system would you have played? I didn't see the Brazil game, but I thought that was a positive performance against Belgium barring 2 howlers and a back 4 that was shaky but won't be close to our back 4. the full backs played high, the interchanging in the midfield was great, Toney looked very good, Mainoo looked excellent, Bellingham is genuine world class as is Rice in his position. I'm not sure how Southgate was negative last night? I get that he has been and is pretty careful in tournaments, but in the last 2 years Bellingham ha
