Ive seen mainly plummer blooded dogs do 7 hours-theyre jet black though and wouldnt look out of place amongst your own-whole litter retrieve without being taught.Theres a word you used in the thread about breeding " catylist"-made an awful lot of sense to me-bred to a dog that would have thrown workers to a poodle(a patterdale obviously)

its not just about plummers it's about using the different types to create a new breed or should I say type, not trying to reinvent the wheel, just a thread on different opinions and genetics in lines and out crosses.Foxdropper had an ace thread but pulled it If you want some good reads on breeding then look into game cocks and the breeding there - they can try out all the theories around in a much shorter space of time same for pigeons -

So if they work like a russel but noses are exceptional, are you say russels have shit noses? No, I have owned a few with decent noses but the Plummer being bred through the beagle certainly has better scenting ability on a live hot trail, WM So basically adding beagle brought nothing a digging terrier needs as all digging terriers have good noses otherwise the wouldn't find there quarry underground i dont know about that-wanting to find the game has a lot to do with it id say.
