    WHERE? THE SAME PLACE IT TOLD US THAT THE SALUKI WAS THE FASTEST DOG? RUNNING AT GREYHOUND SPEED IN THE BAKING HEAT ON SOLID UNDULATING TERRAIN. THROUGH BUSH SCRUB & OTHER OBSTACLES THAT GREYHOUND PACE WOULD BE A DISADVANTAGE AS AN INJURED ANIMAL IS NOT MUCH USE IN THE PACK. DOES THEIR MUSCLE TONE SUGGEST AN ANIMAL THAT IS AS FAST AS THE MUSCLE TONE OF A GREYHOUND? I AGREE THEY ARE GREAT NATURAL ATHLETES Look it up, cheetahs don't seem to do too bad with their blistering pace in the same habitat THE CHEETAH IS A LONE HUNTER RELYING ON SHORT TERM ENDURANCE & PACE.     They are supposedly faster than greyhounds though on documentaries they don't appear to be NOT FASTER DF. THEY RUN ON AEROBIC RESPIRATION AS MUSCLE TONE SUGGESTS. THEY RELY ON STAMINA TO WEAR DOWN THE QUARRY & TEAM WORK WITHIN THE PACK TO TAKE PREY. WATCHING A HUNT & HOPEFULLY A TAKE DOWN AT THE END IS A WONDERFULL SPECTACLE. Iam well aware that with the split or schism twixt the Latin & Greek Churches in 1054 what you would see in a tapestry would not have been made at the scene but rather an image of it that perhaps would agree with the teachings of the Latin Church. Neither would the tapestry beside it of The Ides of March .However now you have made the point that there was a saluki type of dog in Brussels 500yrs ago so where did they come from & why would it be a type to be associated as being around at the supposed time of Christs birth in the supposed region

    My point was just how long have sighthounds been around, not the Christ thing. However if we are not to believe the Christ thing then how accurate can any assumption or a conclusion be on the origin of such dogs? Certanly there is no written definitive word on the subject & thus we are left in the hands of archeological findings on the subject. This tapestry is just another piece in a huge jigsaw meant purely as a photograph on a point of interest
