I did the classic 'polish and degrease ' of the sears and it does make for a very smooth trigger with a crisp release http://www.thehuntin...__fromsearch__1

Sounds to me like it might not be adjusted safely or correctly: http://www.airrifleshop.co.uk/Manuals/AirArmsS400ISS10.pdf

As above, you should in all honesty purely for safety and backstops etc know the land your shooting over. The other thing to do is in your daytime shooting start using a lower magnification on your scope and remember how much of the reticle is covered by your prey, that way you can transfer that in to your nightime shooting and have a very quick way of knowing range based on the amount of mildots covered by a rabbit at different ranges but always at a fixed mag.

help wanted on best zero range
markha replied to dogvixen01's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Shj bloody hell, scrap all I have posted as its relevant to .22 trajectory, should have read it again, doh, must stop scimming over contect. work must be rubbing off, need a holiday. Scope height, yea perhaps not a clear posting, should have put the words 'average of 1.5 to 1.8" as there isnt a ,lot in it for the average scope mount heights unless your using a 20mm objective or a huge 70mm objective scope. Cheers for making me read it again Bill -
help wanted on best zero range
markha replied to dogvixen01's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Dont worry about scope height, its has little effect on line of sight vs trajectory at airgun ranges, unless that is your scope is 5" above the barrel, then it may be worth factoring that in. Another way of doing things:Zero at 25m, then let me/forum members know what scope and reticle you are using. The reason for this is that with a bit of tweaking its very simple to have a 25m zero and then at say 6x magnification on your scope, each mildot would give you holdovers in 10m increments. And, providing you have a high enough magnification scope, it may be that at say 12x magnification -
All of the shoting seasons and by-laws can be found here: http://www.basc.org.uk//en/departments/game-and-gamekeeping/game-shooting/shooting-seasons.cfm This is from the same page: Sunday and Christmas Day Shooting England and Wales Game for the purposes of this section means pheasant, partridge, red grouse, black grouse and hare. No game may be killed or taken in any county on Sunday or Christmas Day. Before the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 orders prohibiting the shooting of wildfowl on Sundays were made under sections 2 and 13 of the Protection of Birds

moving the hunting photo comp to general?

Same here, the more exposure the better. However, things need to be tightened up a bit if more people get involved. Posting of multiple images in one post should not be allowed simply for ease of clarification on voting. Also, I think it should be limited to only one picture entry per member per month of the competition, this will have 3 benefits to all: 1/ It makes the whole thing easier to vote on 2/ It makes each member who is thinking of entering a picture to pick their best picture from what could be many images from that month, this will give more satisfaction to the individual a -
All my guns are accurate, its just me thats not Si' has summed it up in a nutshell. If it was me and money was no object I would still buy an AA410 as it does all I need it to straight from the box. All you get for spending more money on the top end guns is bragging rights at the bar ( and thats if anyone is bothered to listen), I have matched group sizes and sometimes bettered them on paper punching ranges against guys shooting with evos and £2k scopes etc. I know lads that shoot catapults more accurately than some air gun hunters I have witnessed! In fact I think we should all get

This will happen sometimes, especialy if the air has run below about 60bar as the valve in the cylinder will open and dump all the air out. This can be a real pain if you are charging from a foot pump as the chances are you will never get the valve to close. If you are filling from a tank a short but sharper blast of air just briefly may be enough to close the valve and allow filling to continue as normal. If you dont have a tank to fill from go to your local dive cente or gun shop and get them to fill it, then keep an eye on the air pressure. If that doesnt work then as you say, a seal k

There is a bit if resistance when pushing the probe forward on my rifle, its kind of like a 2 stage thing, the probe pushes the pellet out of the mag with just a little resistance and then it pushes in to the barrel, again with a little bit if resistance. I would have a good close look at your magazine housing and make sure that the seal is good and that the case is not damaged or worn, also check the plastic tab on the bag of the magazine is there and not worn or broken off! (this lines up with the magazine retaining clip) the same goes for the plate that sits below the index spring, make

You can get a big box of various sized rubber 'o' rings from Halfords, I got one a year ago and its been a handy little purchase.

Well the farmer is quite fed up with all the crows now and they see my van and they are off. There are far too many to shoot so I suggested building a big trap. Happy days, made the ladder today and tomorrow will finish building the rest of it onsite as its 8'x 6'x6'.

I have CZ455 16" varmint same as Tegater but reworked trigger in the new models so no need for the trigger kits. Groups at 110yds 10 rounds in less than 1" and 3 round groups of anywhere between 12mm to 20mm, basically I can get a couple of shots that overlap and 1 shot as an average that lets the group down, this could be just down to me 'pulling a shot and combined with powder loadings in factory ammo. I found a nice firm pull in the shoulder rather than a light grip brings the groups tighter, oh and only ever off a bipod, havent got bags to shoot off as I dont do much target stuff, only eno

Is this your 'actual' dope or software? I only ask as to be honest I havent bothered to do a range/drop test yet and as you have the same rifle and all that

Duncan, youll love it, you dont have to worry to much about the 'rainbow'. I was shooting at varying ranges the other day from around to 170ish and with the scope cranked up to 18x for shots at 170ish I was just holding over the equivalent of 1 mildot. Once past 200yds the tiny bullet start to really drop fast, around 2" for every 5yds or so, give or take a little. But still good for long range stuff on a wind free day, see Tegater's videos. From zero range of 110yds to 200 odd yards the drop is only about 11", but from 200yds to 300yds the drop is around 40" Looks like howling wi

Good shooting there, well done. Wish I had been about for when the widgeon landed on the Llyn en-mass, sadly work just got in the way. Had a few good days on barley stubble, but not a lot of widgeon about now, they have definitely moved on, just the odd handfull of 20 or so birds still knocking about but nothing like the thousands that North Wales has had this year, its been a good one, and I know what you mean about acorns being on the ground early. Bodes for bad winter again?

No need for blushing, Once you get out there youll find all kinds of differences in nature. I have seen a fair few bumble bees this year with either solid black bodies or solid gold bodies but no stripes, Im wandering if they are commercialy bred bees that have escaped, as I know there are some very big greenhouses about that hire bees to pollenate the crops. I have seen white rabbits in one field, proper albinos they are, plus a fair few black rabbits and one that is the size of a Hare, but alas it seems to be 'charmed' as its been shot at a number of times but just seems to get away! I h

Zero 110yds, Please let me know how you get on with your HW over time, as I did fancy one but nothing in my local shop to look at so got a CZ, which I have to say is a bloody good benchmark for accuracy.

All of the above plus anything that stinks, mackerel, pilchards etc all good aromatic baits, oh and have used baked beans to good effect in the past

I too realy like the SR12 reticle and only put it on my 17hmr because it was the highest zoom scope I had at the time, but in all honesty the reticle, for holdover, is wasted on there. I can say that the scope does track very well when dialing. Still loving the stalking with air and looking forward to lamping again. I now have il-mildot on my air rifle, and at 12x it still goes up in roughly 5m increments and 10m increments at 6x, so all still good.

I posted in this section because other airgunners, myself included, have been spotting black rabbits and thought I would share the rest too. Gray rabbit head shot with air rifle and showing its good side Black rabbit heart/lung shot with 17hmr from 190yds, small entry hole, broken ulna/scapular, no exit hole. Ginger rabbit head shot from 30yds by my nephew with 12g, believe me it is showing its good side.
