For Sale AMT/US Optics D241m (milspec) Gen 2+ NV Rifle scope for sale
markha replied to markha's topic in Optics and Night Vision
How far can you shoot with a chevrion reticle?, well its mildot calibrated so the same distance you can shoot with whatever rifle you are going to put it on. Hold over is hold whatever reticle you have as is windage. I use it effectively out to 150yds on rabbit with HMR and easy 200yds fox with .223CF. AMT and US Optics both made doublers - doctor bobs kit may well work, I dont know. The unit is made by AMT which is now ATN. The same units were sold by a multitude of well known NV companies - US Optics, Cobra, ATN. This model of scope is no longer made - Julian at Starlight would be my -
For Sale Zeiss Diavari 3-12x56 Scope
markha replied to popescucalin's topic in Optics and Night Vision
No offence meant, but your 1st post on THL are to sell expensive scopes, I feel very very wary -
I agree with Acuspell, its not always the magnification but the quality of the glass. On my hmr i have a Hawke scope, 6-18x44 for about £, its OK but even on highest zoom its hard to see shots; on my last .223 i had a 3-9x50 Marchwood scope and I could see my group of 2.5" at 260yds clear as a bell and thats because the glass was fast and clear. Infact I have that scope sitting in a box somehwere suprplus to my needs Now not a lot of people know about Marchwood or their scopes, lets say they put their own name on some of the scopes they import, now go and look up Marchwood and see wh

Blooming heck mate someone got very lucky indeed!!!! Cost around £1300. -
Ye that does seem a bit of a spread (unless its a very windy day ), What twist is it, the 1:12 or the 1:8, if its the 1:12 then you can go lighter with your bullets, if its the 1:8 then I would try some remmy acutips in 55gr.

What is your grouping at 200yds?

A short bit of footage of D241M Gen2+ NV rifle scope.
markha replied to markha's topic in Night Vision & Thermal
Sorry for the shameless plug, but due to lack of use at the moment im selling this unit: http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/237113-amtus-optics-d241m-milspec-gen-2-nv-rifle-scope-for-sale/ -
Hi all, Im selling this as Im just not using it that much. Its an AMT/US Optics D241m Generation 2+ NV rifle scope with auto gated system tube which works perfectly. The 'm' stands for milspec, as such the lenses are a very good and its completely weather proof. This is a 'proper' generation 2+ tube with plenty of hours left in it. Mounting is weaver/picatinny, ill throw in a low profile weaver to dovetail mount. It comes in a Pelican hard case and I have just put a fresh battery in it. Its got 3x magnification and a very good onboard IR illuminator which is good for eye shine o

Cz 455 varmint thumb hole laminster
markha replied to LeeV692's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I have had a 455 thumbhole varmint 16" for a while now, paid 650 brand new when they came out. The trigger is much better, the plastic magazines are fine, it rides in the truck and over the shoulder and there is no weak point in the thumbhole stock, these guns shoot sub 1" at 100m and Im more than confident at taking rabbits at 180yds all day long. Very very accurate, havent had to play around with ammo as Hornady Vmax 17gr is doing the job very nicely. I love it -
One thing your really need to do is to shoot over a chrono and see what your ammunition and barrel length is producing compared to the manufacturers data. Other than that you need to do your own drop chart for your gun, to be honest a home made drop chart is well worth the lesson it teaches you in producing it. Zero 100yds 15.5gr 17gr 20gr 10mph at 150yds 12.2" 12.08" 12.97" 150yds drop 3.24" 3.16" 3.78"

It all added up to more than i thought
markha replied to mark a l's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Love it hahahahah. The Whole Of The World Economy is based on man's hobbies! And when a few big men spend to much on their hobby we all get shafted. US Presidents love thier hobby of war, then in turn the presidents of poorer countries think they will join in and have ago at the war hobby, before long an English woman decides she will join in with the mens hobby and we have been running out of cash ever since, it all then ends in trading equipment so that more people can jon in with the war hobby, hey do you want to play the game? nothing to play it with? hell we will sell you the equipment -
Got the 455 varmint thumbhole 16" barrel, less than 1 " groups all day long, head shot rabbits at 180yds, nice action, better trigger than the previous versions, multiple shots with warm barrel and still on the money, comfortable stock, shoots great off a bipod or off the wing mirror. I love it

Help would be appreciated
markha replied to H U N T E R--B O Y's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Just get an AA S410, a better gun straight from the box, Get the BSA if you want to spend money getting it to shoot as well as an Air Arms, just my opinion -
I dont know about finding ferrets, but I do know about using tranceivers for recovery of bodies in avalanche (unfortunately) and can categorically state that I , and many others, found the BCA Tracker far quicker and easier to use, both in the real world and also when searching for buried tranceivers on practice days. Well worth a look

North Wales conditions are a but skewif as well. I have sent my licence back on numerous occasion for varitaions, each time i have added the wording of " vermin control" next to the entry for 17hmr as well as next to the entry for .223. Each time they send it back I get a condition of pest and vermin control on the 17hmr but for the .223 its always ignored and they just keep putting " for zeroing and destruction of fox", I keep asking for the vermin condition to be attached to the .223 and they say yea no problem then when it comes back its just as before! It shows that some people in this o

New Spartan Moderator from 3rd Eye Tactical
markha replied to markha's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Well my conclusion ( albeit quiet late form this first post): Definitely wellmade, easy to strip and clean. Not as quiet as a wildcat pred 8 with calibre specific baffle stack, but follow through was better as recoil was reduced a little more. Now sold it as trying out various moderators and currently waiting for variation for a Vulcan moderator which is getting very good reviews from the military. -
Yep I had one in 223. A very well made bit of kit, however I did a direct comparison test with my wildcat predator 8 which had the 223 baffle stack in it. Original post here : http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/222305-new-spartan-moderator-from-3rd-eye-tactical/page__fromsearch__1 Conclusion for me: Slightly lighter than the wildcat, just a little louder but much easier to follow the shot through the scope as recoil was a little less. I have since sold it as I am currently testing lots of different moderators and at the moment waiting for a variation to come back so I can h

MTC Optics Viper 6-24x56 Ir rifle scope
markha replied to shroughan's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
I had a look through them at the CLA, not bad up to 10x mag, after that things started to get a bit dark, Im sure the exit pupil size is small than is claimed. Personally I would go for less magnification and better glass. Id rather see my target prey clearly at all times. For a fair while I was using a 3-9x50 on a Remmy 700 police 223 and shooting easily at 300m. Now using a Burris tactical 3-12x56 and still shooting well at 300m with just a slightly bigger image. If I was you I would go down the shops and have a look through a heap of scopes, there is nothing worse than having to arse -
Rabbits are on the general licence to be 'exterminated to extinction' and all land owners or tenants have a 'legal obligation' to control rabbit populations on their land - MOD included. However - Permission to shoot on MOD property or land that is, or was, at anythime used as a designated firing range at any point in time, even if its now agricultural, may need the person shooting to have permission from the MOD Estates and more so they may even stipulate that that person needs to hold an MOD Range Qualification, as is needed by all those, civilian or otherwise, who shoot on MOD Ranges.
