As a lad I was a handfull, I was always out in the woods of cannock chase, building hides, knockind down squirrels with my swapped black widow catapult, staying out too late and worrying my parents, dad would have to drive 40 minutes round trip then start looking for me in the woods, I got a few smacks allright! From an early age I was just into the outdoors, aunties and uncles would by me soldier suits, a friend of the familly who ws moving away gave me the butt section off his service rifle, wow I was made up, a proper gun part My great grandad, grandad, cousins were all in the army and th

Well I was just having a look to see how much room I had in my gun safe, so in went the 410 with scope, my Meteor with scope and the shotgun and my girls shotgun and found I just have room for 2 scoped guns and 2 shotties, not great when your applying for FAC with 3 calibres and need to buy an extra gun safe! Anyway, as I picked up the Meteor and it cried out to me to have a pellet put through it, so I obliged and decided it would be interesting to see what turned up on the chrono: Pellets were taken as being 8.87gr and the average results for my unfettled gun (apart from re-done the s

markha replied to balloonguys's topic in Gun's and Rifle's
His advert here say £150 or reasonable offers> http://www.freeads.co.uk/uk/leisure/sports/hunting_and_sporting_equipment/9287269/eb-312x52-optimate-dual-x-scope-as-new-with-mounts/view -
The best air rifle scope you ever had????
markha replied to markha's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Catcher, with the supplied side focus wheel on, the scope sat just forward of the magazine, if I put the larger optional wheel on it would block the magazine. I had problems with my sidewinder scope holding zero, well not holding zero, guess it was a duff scope as they should be OK even on CF rifles. -
As the post says, a large well managed shoot to let near Dolgellau North Wales, Its £11k to let the shooting rights plus any accommodation needed. Thought I would post it incase anyone fancied going in to a small share on this and see if its as profitable as I have heard this shoot is.... http://gunsonpegs.com/shooting/buy/shoots_for_sale.php?tab=det&id=1577

After reading through some older posts I notice that some of you list your gun/scope combination in your posting signature. Lots of different scopes, with different magnifications and objective lens diameter. This got me thinking about what is/has been the best scope you have had for Air rifle only. So, which scope/reticle are you currently using? And, for those with a few rifles/scopes to pick from, which scope do you prefer? Cheers Markha

Matt, no worries mate, and my post (and basically any of my ranting posts!) arent ever aimed in direct response to other peoples thoughts/posts, its great being able to just get it out there mate. No dramas Cadts on Snowdon, yea loads of them about, all in civvy dress though, they all tend to stay at Capel barracks so nothing changed there. New dining/cooking area built on barracks now, very modern affair, all wood and modern, god knows how they got planning permission in the national park for it though, i wonder why?
-
Do you go up with your own AT staff or use Capel instructors? Did you meet Alan, the stores manager, brummy, good sense of humour?
-
Brunty, when you get back, see if you can get to Capel Curig for decompression and some AT, Ill gladlytake you out for a shoot mate.

Somewhere down the line things have gone quiet wrong in our land. The freedom to protest peacfully regardless of what the protest is about is a great thing to have and we take it for granted, look at the current popluation protests in other countries and what their dictatorships are doing to them, they would never do that to us. However to have anyone, regardless of race or religion allowed to demonstrate anywhere near the repatriation of dead British soldiers is an outrage, and thankfully it doesnt get covered in the press or there would be widespread civil unrest in every city, town and

Matt I appreciate and can see where your thoughts lie. However, as you said, not all of us will see it that way. A soldier, a true soldier, a career warrior was born and knew what he was going to be, destined to be a gladiator, a warrior and defend his homeland, wherever that may be. Even when the war he fights for his politicians may be wrong, he still fights regardless and all those who spit, scream and shout at him, they will, at some point, get their just deserts in one way or another. Free speech for everyone, yes, free action for religous fantaticals within in our homeland, n

Combining the general section with the main forum is sensible and keeping the tech forum seperate. Thanks for asking for opinions Ian, If I was overloaded with work having to keep moving posts to the correct board, I would have started a dictatorship and said, its my forum and Ill delete what I like! Now theres a better way to work things, just put up a sticky post called I will delete your post if...... then when people post in the wrong section just delete it, simple

Well...... I had one of the top 30mm tube tactical models, very good glass, very fasy and superb light transmission, however I had a problem with mine not holding zero very well, I was constantly having to re-zero, and not just a few clicks here and there, I mean 3/4 turns back and forth, a real pain in the arse, I lost faith in it, it was only a few months old, you can read my initial review in the optics section. I was so pissed off that I didnt even give Hawke the option of sorting it out or swapping it, I just sold it on with the warning that it didnt hold zero to well. But, lots of o

As above, changes in muzzle weight due to heavier/lighter silencers, and also how the harmonics are changed will effect any vibrations in the barrel as the pellet leaves the moderator/silencer, this will also give POI changes.

nice one, and I bet with some more practice you may just get the groups a bit tighter, breathe in put hairs on target, gently breathe out, pause your breathing just as you gently squeeze the trigger and always follow through, staying with your cross fixed on the target right till you hit or miss, keeping your crosshairs fixed on the target right through the cycle is probably the most important thing, it will stop you from snatching at the trigger as well as moving the rifle once the trigger has been pulled. Happy hunting and paper bashing.
