  1. well said mate, bloody dog section idiots.

  2. I had a session lamping on Saturday night and this was the first time using the P7 with a red filter on and using a scope. So as above post, it works well enough with the red filter on and using your eyes, however its a complete waste of time when trying to use it with a red filter and looking through a scope. I could hardly see anything past 15m and there was nowhwhere near enough contrast to be able to see my reticle. With a quick change to the amber filter things were much better indeed. I also noticed that the rabbits were a little more happy to stay sat for longer under the amb
  3. It always takes broad shoulders to take the weight of standing by ones morales, convictions and ones humility, being straight to the point, never suffering fools gladly and making an accurate and informed comment on others is never taken well by many, seconded by fewer but always admired by most. It always makes people value your thoughts, but doesnt always lead to making friends, such is the position of those who have enough strength to say what they think and how they feel. In then end when all is said and done, you find yourself with many on your side, who value straight, honest opinio
  4. Pipa, You asked this before, the answers are still the same mate: http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/194140-hawke-sr6-scopes/page__p__1965849__fromsearch__1#entry1965849
  5. Davey, Im all for self servicing if at all possible , The post was about removing the anti tamper, now this could mean one of 2 things: Either removing the anti tamper bolt that covers the power adjuster port Or removing the casting material in order to get to the 2 big allen key bolts Now as most people dont know about the 2 big bolts and the anti tamper on them, and as most people who ask about anti tamper just want to mess around with the power, I have taken it to mean the anti tamper on the power adjuster. As far as Im aware (ready to be corrected in Im wrong) there is no n
  6. Dont do it, I would have a strong suspicion that doing so would ' come back and bite you' at some point in your life, its just not worth it. If you cant do what you want to do with your rifle as it is, then you need to practice at being a better marksman. More power does not make a better shooter, practice and skill does.
  7. Yep mate, I can honestly say that on loading my 10 shot mag I end up throwing atleast 3 out as they are bent and nothing to do with me being ham fisted. Damn good pellets but the trade off is the softness, it does add up to a lot of discarded pellets and they aint cheap. I used wash and lube my pellets, but I dont bother at all now as I havent noticed much difference in accuracy, it all in the head mate, all in the head
  8. Good shooting mate The thing to remember with shooting uphill is that the steeper the angle the greater the change in point of impact from your initial zero, and this POI is Above the centre crosshair, or Hold Under. If you are zerod at 25m you can have your barrel at an angle of around 20 degrees and still use the centre crosshairs out to 28m for a 1" killzone. A 40 degree angle - crosshairs from 33 to 38m and 1" kill zone. However if your under the trees and shooting at distances under 30m then the hold under will be massive as the POI will be anything from 7 to 10cm from your h
  9. Mate, put your posts in the right section, this is the hunting section, doh
  10. Well James all I can say is good luck, I would not mention to your FEO wanting a rimfire for rats indoors as you may well open up a can of worms from his/her questioning. Me personally? I would not want to shoot a .22 rimfire indoors unless it was on a range, very bouncy round - law of averages and a good dollop of Murphies law means one of them coming back and hitting you, not good at all and could well be fatal if it hit you in the right/wrong place ,
  11. Yes nice shooting, what distance were they taken at? MY HW80 loved H&N FTT
  12. So I was out again yesterday with 3 things on my mind: 1/Retrieve the turret cap off my Bushnel scope after I left it on a fence post the other day. 2/ Zero my new scope - Hawke SR12 6-18x44, I saw this on fleabay the other day for £79.99 and thought what a bargain! 3/Sort out the crows again on my 'nemesis' permission. Well the rain cleared on the coastal side of the mountains about 11.30, but the winds will still pretty gusty, the forecast for the mountain tops was 60-70mph, so not a great day in the hills I planned on the main weather front holding up on the windward s
  13. hahahahahahahahahaha, lmao Fry,, fair play though mate. I have to be honest I was going to add a 'wind up' in my post but thought better of it, but what the heck, heres what I was going to put: I would recommend only one rifle to buy and that is an Air Arms, it doesnt matter which one or how old it is, all the AA are the worlds most accurate rifles you can buy, and I challenge anyone to outshoot meand my AA as it is so accurate, I can shoot drawing pin size groups from 1 yard to 70yds with ease, it doesnt even matter if theres a 10mph full value wind the gun is so accurate, And theres
  14. Fry winds his neck in quickly Its a point though.....
  15. Quite possibly the Air Arms S410 carbine Perfect in every way, light, easy to point and deadly accurate. Apart from that I would get a rifle that fits you well, that you like the feel of and that matches the amount of money you have to spend, the main contenders are all very accurate rifles. Also decide whether you want single or multi-shot and dont discount older models as they are just as accurate. I made a choice between the HW100 and th AAs410, I chose the AA because it was a fair bit lighter than the HW100, eventhough my trade in was a HW80, which is also a solid, if not he
  16. Im out all year round too, Im one of the 'old lads in their 40's' as Zini calls us! Cheers Si and still out atleast 3 times a week if possible, from stalking in the hedge rows with a lamp on a bad weather night to snipping the little buggers in the summer, or hid up with the decoys out, oh and many hours trying to get the crows on my current permission:( Ill probably not post as much during the summer as far to busy shooting!
  17. Ah mate fantastic the mum looks a bit red in the eyes, as would be expected Grand stuff and all the best with them.
  18. Boy are you brave mate, looks good though. Have a good evening shoot, looks like the rest of the week is goinmg to be a bit wet, plus your off soon? Heard from a cousin in Tofield that they still getting big dumps of snow, so break out the cold weather kit mate
  19. Nice one, its always great to hear of happy purchases, Ill be adding them to my favourites as my GF will be needed a new SG slip for her birthday. Cheers
  20. Hey up mate, glad you got it sorted and sounds like to you got a great deal, nice one. Are you still working in N Wales? and have a permission for squirrels? give me a call and Ill come out and show you how to deal with them and a pint after
  21. I dissagree that a catty is not a hunting weapon, At 11yrs old I bought a black widow from my local sports shop, I would try and get anything I could with it once I had mastered aiming, so squizzers were well and truly stuffed! A catapult is one of the earliest forms of weaponry.
  22. Nice pics and looks like another great event. Its about time you won this mate no pressure like hehe! Seriously, well done.
  23. I have been using a bushnel trophy 3-9x40 trx and find it a nice, simple scope to use.
