I've heard the same stories pal, the difference is the breeding, most lads have put any pit to any whippet, I've seen many great bull x's and I've seen many great small dogs , both equally good on a good number of foxes , each have the positives and negatives , Everyone has their own view on the perfect lurcher, horses for courses and what not.the bull/whippet thing was done over here years ago from good stuff both sides and it didn't last long as they were found wanting, to small to slow with no finish equals rubbish..tally.. can you tell me the name of the pit used in the x your talking abou

could it be a case of her getting used to keeping the pressure of that foot / leg. ? I know a greyhound man had a dog the same way. He put the dog on a treadmill , forcing the dog to realize it was ok to use the leg again and dog came good. Obviously every case is different so only you know if this is more of a danger to the dog than a help. A.t.b

Sounds like he has that die hard striking ability and natural retrieval intincs of a Good whippet. Is there a touch of whippet in him by any chance.. Lol. All kidding aside, I'm glad for ye. It's moments like that , that make it all worth while putting the time into a pup a.t.b with it

I checked out that name shionnach mentioned and found a guy using that name in wexford. I spoke to him on phone , price was 120 for a day's hunting pheasant with a pointer and goshawk . He said he would take me out until 3 o clock. Or 3 catches, which ever comes 1st, he said it would be unusual not to get a couple of kills . Only date he had left was 21st of this month. I'm still not sure if I'm free that date. But if I am able to make it and your interested in going , I can pick you up no problem. I will check that site out aswell and see what I can find

There's no lack of pace , it's just simple planning for the future , here in cork we actually think of the importance of breeding , the half x's are doing just fine, simply planning ahead. yeah and then yous won't let any of that good breeding leave cork yez greedy feckers lol

It might be a long shot, but I was wondering if there is anyone near in or even remotely close to dublin that could bring me out for a day's hunting with a hawk . It's something I would really like to experience 1st hand . Any help appreciated a.t.b Brenner

obviously a 3/4 will be faster. But common sense will tell you every 3/4 has to start off as a 1st x . Especially important if you want to know exactly what's in the breeding for yourself.
-
agreed. But all the better if you can trace the dog back to generations of worker x worker . As we all know you could have a pair of good working whippets or any other breed that just happened to be a flash in the pan from any oul dogs bred from generations of poor animals and therefore might throw poor/ average pups. I know lads say most whippets will work but it's fair to say some lines of whippets Carry certain desireable traits that are consistently produced in litters of certain lines. Maybe one line and it's common traits suits one man and a different line and it's traits / attributes su

Whippet Section Needed, Whos With Me ?

bouncers would be the wrong word. Bouncers usually deal with people that genuinely want to throw down with someone. I don't know who you would need to deal with with "men" that throw insults from behind a keyboard. Not sure if you are pretending not to be able to grasp the point of the idea or not on purpose . But if you do understand, you are entitled to your opinion. -

I enjoy the banter as much as the next man, but it's not about hiding from the haters. I'm sure you've noticed its very hard to get a sensible conversation or debate going without the haters taking over the topic and bringing it down to a level where people arnt bothered posting anymore.
