1. All really nice dogs everyone.Luv to see how theyve changed as theyve grown.
2. Some cracking dogs.Here's one of mine.Deerhound x greyhound 4 weeks 8 weeks 3 months 6 months 2 1/2 years
3. Thats a cracking deal that.Worth noting if you want more throw go for a light with a smooth reflector rather than the textured/orange peel reflector. If you want any info on lights of any kind, reviews, beam shots, try the candlepower forum.Worth having a look anyway & you dont have to be a member.
4. batteries do not have memories you numpty try totaly discharging your battery , by wiring a low wattage bulb to it , car sidelight or indicator bulb would do . then try charging it with a good quality slow charging charger for a good 16-20 hours . then see how you get on .. worked for me :db:i think that thay do.. :db:look on the box:thumbs: yes they do a battery does not have a memory ... it will start acting LIKE it as a memory if you never discharge it .. by this i mean if you constantly charge a battery from half full it will only take a half charge all the time un
5. Agree with both of you.I personally think kids & dogs are very similar in thier behaviour & it may be the dog is seeking your attention, but just like kids. Not always in the wright way. Put the baby in buggy & the three of you go for some good walks together, bonding. As above, don't shock him or hose him down.Youll never gain his trust or respect.Without those two things you'll never truly train him
6. I think what youve got is what they call with kids the terible two's.If he was mine i would stop all training for two weeks & just lead walk him twice a day for at least an hour each walk. Then start again from the begining.Worth a try.Good luck.Kev.
7. Im with you on this mate. You know i dont agree with summer hunting. If youve got a job to do,then youve got a job to do.If not why go looking for it.Things do pop up,but we all know the places we're most likely to see something so dont go there. As for keeping the dogs tickingover cause theyre going hyper.give em enough exercise & they'll be to tierd to be hyper.
8.
I agree to train a lurcher to stop chaseing imho is totally unnatrual and i wouldent attempt it for fear of mentally damaging the dog.

this is true cause you instill rules in your dog from a young age eg.not to chase livestock etc but teaching a young dog to chase quarry and encourage him to do so then to smash that dogs confidence by then teaching him to stop well you would have to be very firm with the dog to do that any way would mentally damage a young dogs confidence but then again each to there own atb biza

Som
9. mho if the dogs confidence takes a knock on the odd time that he needs to be stopped,id rather that than see him dead in the road. For what.A rabbit. Ive had this happen & how the car missed him i dont know but not something i want to repeat.A dead dogs no good to anybody.
10. Cheers everyone.Glad you all find it useful. Kev
11. I know ive posted in the wrong place but i would be greatful if you could leave here for as long as you can so as many people as poss can see.Thank's. A lot of people have been asking about batterys. What size/type to use.So ive put this together to hopefully help you out. First, the make & model of lamp does not make a difference. But what you do need to know is what size bulb is fitted to your lamp ie 50watt,25watt ect. When you know this, the next thing is the battery voltage 6v/12v. So,say you have a 50watt bulb & a 12v battery.Which is about the most common set up. Divide the 5
12. it's nothing like the same as stopping it chasing livestock, you want it to catch rabbits etc. most of the time, you never want it to chase livestock so it shouldn't run after livestock no matter what. No but it is kind of similar to the control needed to do the following - take one hungry dog, make him sit, place a bowl of really tasty meat in front of him and watch him sit there for 10-15 mins wanting the food so bad but not moving a muscle, before you give a command and only then does he eat. Not quite but close. It's also how you tell the dog to leave things it doesnt understand yet

14. Happened to my deerhound/greyhound.Clipped a tree.Went down like a sack of spuds, screaming.Lucklly ive got a good vet & he manipulated it back into place. He was fine after a couple of weeks.Had no probs since.Hope shes ok.Atb
15. Yes it's a striker, was using 2 12v 7ah batteries but was advised to buy 1 bigger 1 then the kid next door recently got a young lurcher and a bare lamp(clulite) so I gave him my batteries. Now just can't decide what to buy. Hi mate.It makes no difference what make of lamp you have.It all depends on the size of bulb(wattage) fitted to the lamp.
16. Hello mate.If you know the size of bulb fitted.Say its a 50watt.Divide 50 watt by the batt voltage.Say 12v.That will tell you what amps the bulb runs at.So 50 divided by 12 will give you 4amps.Then divide the amp hour of your batt by the amps of the bulb.10ah batt divided by 4 amp bulb will give a continuous run time of 2.5 hours.Keep in mind that the lite will dim as batt drains. The ah rating only affects the amount of time you can run your lamp. The bigger the ah rating the longer the run time.
17. A 10ah will give you over 2hr's continuous use & be liter.6.5kg be like carrying 4 1/2 bags of sugar.
18. women.you can't live with em & you can't live without em.
19. Got a beddy/whippet x whippet myself.Would be ideal for what you want.Brought up with cats so no probs there.nose like a tracker. Good little all round rabbiting dog.Atb with your choice.kev
