  1. You guys must spend a fortune in the vets lol. As long as he isn't pissing blood, his stools haven't blood in them, he is eating and drinking and is looking, can lie down etc, pretty much ok apart from a little sore I'm sure he will be fine. All that will be dented is his confidence Not really mate,no.Yeah look for the things you said, which no dout you would of seen by now.But if id been kicked off my feet by a horse.I think id be getting checked out.Just my thoughts. What you do with your dogs is entierly up to you.
  2. Glad to hear he's ok.As Rocky says, mite be worth getting him checked over. Atb Kev.
  3. From what i remember the physio telling me that sounds about wright.I suppose a tear in a muscle is like any other kind of wound,it's going to leave a scar as it heals. But as you say,you need to keep the muscle moving & gentley stretching to keep the scar tissue as supple as poss.Limiting it's affect on the muscle. As i found out myself. If there is any lasting affect,no dout the dog will adapt & get on with it.Unlike us,lol.
  4. Sorry Rocky no.I don't know a great deal about this sort of thing.Other than gentle exersise of the muscle to keep the scare tissue to a minimum.Im sure others on here or the vet could advise you better.im sure he'll be ok.Theyre a dam site tougher than we are.Theres a lady lives near me.Used to have a couple of pet whippets. One of them had it's front leg taken off.But it could still catch a bloody rabbit. Atb with him. Kev.
  5. If you don't keep the scar tissue supple it will go rigid & restrict movement of the muscle.I have the same with a shoulder & neck injury from 3 years ago.Lost about 30% of the movement in my neck & shoulder.
  6. Thats a nasty one mate.Glad to hear he's going to be ok. Take it easy. Atb,Kev.
  7. I don't think youve anything to worry about. Deerhound crosses are genrally calmer & of a more sencetive nature.Just need a diferent approach. If she's mixing with other dogs, playing & checking out her surroundings,i don't see a problem. You'll probably find it will take her a couple of years to mature. You sound like a calm person yourself,so she should be a good match.Respect her sencetive nature,an im sure she'll make a first class hunting partner.Your mates not far off with what he told you. Atb with her. Kev.
  8. Hi Rocky,dh/gh.3years old now.Wouldn't change him for the world.
  9. Like you say, idon't think it's anything to worry about. Two different syle & size of dog.Yes they'll all suffer more this time of year, but thats to be expected.
  10. Hi mate. Same as you,i have dh/gh & beddy/whippet x whippet. The big lad does get a lot hotter & suffers with heat more in the summer.I don't think it's so much a lack of stamina as both dogs will go all night.Just the dh/gh needs to stop & cool down more.Beddy/whippet just goes on & on & on.I personally think the Beddy/whippet is more a problem as he'd run himself into the ground if you let him. It's funny, the only time he gets tired is when it's time to go home. Atb,Kev.
  11. That made me laugh.Well done Tilly.
  12. Glad to hear you got them back ok. Atb.
  13. I feed mine twice a day, everyday.Just cut the amount down through the summer.Theyre out twice a day 365 days a year so never have a problem with them going off there food unless they are ill.Though one of mine has picked up a bug (got the Turkish two step),so he is being starved for 48hr's.So hopefully he'll be ok tomorow.
  14. Hi mate. When you play with her will she take her toys back to somewhere she feels safe,ie,her bed.If so,try sitting in her bed & then playing fom there. When she brings it back to her safe place, you will be there.Keep doing this until she gets the idea.Lots of praise when she gets it right.Just keep it fun & don't over do it.As has already been said. Not all dogs are natural retrievers & take more work & stronger bond & trust.Personally i think you are expecting a lot at 15 weeks. Good luck. Atb,Kev.
  15. Good or average, theyle be with me till the day they die. We walk together,we play together,we hunt together,we share & eat what we catch together. And to the end, together we'll be.
