  1. lol i want to meet Mr Sod and tell him what i think of his laws
  2. lol maybe im not as bad as i thought might try and persuade the farmer to let me have a go at those rabbits next time
  3. Thanks all hoping to go out next weekend so maybe it will go better
  4. Well i was hoping to start a thread with a more impressive name "few pigeons/rabbits" or something, but once again mother nature frowned on me and i was condemned to spend two hours doing my best Bill Oddie impressions while watching random wildlife through the scope. How can an entire farm have nothing to shoot, apart from tons of rabbits in the only place i can't go still maybe more luck next time Chris
  5. wow i have major rifle envy now lol so many awesome guns on here heres what i've got atm but maybe i will get a better one eventually its a cometa 220 in .22 with Richter Optik scope
  6. i have a cometa 220 (soz for the bad pic it was on my bed the nearest place lol) its accurate in the garden we can reliably hit 1p coins and stuff so im happy with accuracy and good idea about face and hands i will try and get some stuff to cover them thanks
  7. ye they were really good value hes gonna need 2 do a lot of growing lol i had to save the washing machine he wanted to put his in and i see what you mean about white tops we were both grey after lol still the shower had an interesting charcoal colour
  8. lol speaking of camo me and bros arrived yesterday fitted me fine but large on him was massive visited our permission ive never seen so little life on a farm saw a few pigeons and that was it kinda disappointing but in a few weeks they say they will be harvesting the rapeseed so then we should have more luck thanks for all the advice chris
  9. thanks Hyperion will definitely be spending some time watching from my hide might have 2 leave bro at home with gun lol he has no patience. hopefully should be getting plenty in the trees to try out your tips on another question (i know, how can there be any more? ) how do you cook pigeons best? the ones we shot i took the breast meat off then used a meat tenderizer on them and quickly fried them. is that a good way or are there better ones?
  10. cool thanks both think me nd bro will go out to the farm on wednesday once we have the camo gear tomorrow will be trying out hide day hopefully some pics if all goes well
  11. update me and bro spent day building hide (well i built he supervised lol ) looks good only had time to spend a few minutes in there but things came close, no pigeons yet though another stupid question: we have got permission to shoot on a farm but i dont know how to get started; do we just wander around and see what we can shoot or is it best to go without rifles so we can see whats there first? in the picture the trees are in the woods we can shoot, the field is full of rabbits and pigeons but we cant shoot there the first pic is the structure, the second is finished
  12. yay got permission to order a camo suit from ebay should be here soon hopefully with that and our hide we should ge results thanks for the tip about UV as well Phantom me and bro noticed they fly away when you look at them but i thought it was something about eyes but UV make more sense hopefully on monday we will have successes to report
  13. thanks andy i guess my bro was just unlucky because he is a real good shot it just shook him up a bit when it went wrong hopefully next week we can put all these ideas into action i will report how it goes
  14. thanks both have watched the video was really helpful hopefully next week me and bro will be able to set up a hide and go early enough to get some any more advice would be great as well thanks one more question: my bro has a weihrauch HW 30 and although he is a good shot when he hit a pigeon in the head it wasn't a clean kill still which isn't what we want to do. is this just bad luck or is the gun not powerful enough for hunting? thanks again
  15. Over the last week me and my brother have been trying to shoot some of the pigeons in a small wood in our grandparents garden, with our air rifles. Over the first few days we go one each but now they seem to have been scared off and avoid the woods totally. Should we give up or is there any way of carrying on without spooking them away? (we dont have any camouflage stuff because we cant afford any yet ) Thanks
  16. Thanks both Btw i read in a book that i could legally shoot on my own with the landowners permission. Is this true? Would be good if so because my dad doesn't have a rifle so it wasn't much fun for him following me around.
  17. Got my first day on the farm today, went along with dad we were told we could pretty much go where we wanted whenever. Got into first field had a pigeon within 10 mins, then spent an hour not seeing a single one. Found out after there was a buzzard circling scared them all away still got one and the farmer says we can come back whenever, she has a air rifle, really old one about 60 years I think, so she is interested in them and happy to have people getting rid of pigeons
  18. hi everyone I'm chris I'm 15 and I'm new to all this so any advice would be great. I've got an air rifle, bought it last year but only just got confident enough to try my shooting on real things. Got two pigeons last week but want to try shooting on a farm. Got all the permission but not really sure what I need etc.
