Same as with weight training, people who say they can't bulk up aren't eating enough, CONSISTENTLY, no good adding a bit of grub for a day or two, make sure your adding enough extra EVERY day and guarantee'd your pooch will put weight on

Bullxgreyxsalukixgrey/colliexgreyxwhippetxgrey Good Mix?
Lloyd90 replied to millsy2014's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Sound shit mate, got no wheaten, no beddy, no alaunt , no deerhound and no shitzu On serious note, alot of mixes, just get a dog from tidy parents that suit the ground you work, and hope for best -
How much collie is in them ? I have read a 1/4 c 3/4 g would be best for first timer and lamping, but would they then lose there ruggedness ?
-
I'm sorry to hear about your bitch pal, bet thats a right kicker. A dog around 24-25" sounds a good size to me, what crosses did you find that do the best up on that land ? I have heard a 1/2 x collie grey can be a bit picky and a 3/4 bred grey would be better, would this then make the dog not as tough and able to run that ground ?

Riley, I would want the dog mostly for rabbiting, but with the ability to follow up and maybe pull a wounded fallow. The forest I hunt on is thick with steap banks in some parts so if the deer runs on and isn't followed up then could be lost. However, the likelyhood of this would be very low so it's not a high priority. Rabbiting on the lamp would probally be the main job , mostly in small / medium fields that hold sheep but also a few big pasture fields I have access to, day time mooching ability over sand dunes and hills would be an advantage as parts of one permission I have is just thi

Just look at the way the advert is worded. ". This carefully planned litter has been specially bred to be family members and pets, rather than working dogs " "The Kennel Club registered whippet dam of the litter has done exceptionally well during her show career and is Crufts qualified, and the Kennel Club registered sire is a show type Bearded Collie." "These puppies will be small, elegant, easily trained " They also reckon they will all be perfectly recall trained at 8 weeks. Sounds like an accidental breeding to me and the kents are trying to cash in.Deserve a good hiding mo

What kind of lurcher would hold its own working through woodland type ground, up and down fairly steapish hillsides , the ground is a few places is quite boggy. Went up this morning and put up 4 fallow does to the rifle, If I had clipped one the dog would need to be able to follow up and possibly pull the animal (perfectly legal to follow up a wounded animal) and also need to be able to go out ferreting / mooching and lamping on sand dunes and also fairly open pasture fields. Is there a cross that could do all that ? Or am I expecting too much ? I have been interested in a beddy x grey

I Keep Losing My Lodger.................

true that, when Buck gets in the cover he blends in great even though he big fooker lol he like grey brown timber wolf colour lol Got any pictures of him ray ? How's that injury healed up since we last spoke ? -
In hard times , times of budget cuts and spending constraints you'd think they'd go back to te old days when you had to be atleast 6 ft, normally an ex rugby player and able to hold your own With less staff there are going to be less hands able to turn up at incidents , some of these women are deffo going to ey a kick in, a lad who was in school with me recently qualified as a doctor , he said he had 2 women coppers on who's tried to take down a bloke and he gave both of me a real bad hiding before walking off Seems bloody stupid to me

Why is every PCSO I see these days such a fat little f****r ? No offence to any coppers an all, sure there's the odd one that might be alright lol ( a good mate of mine is one ha ) even tho he's in good shape and always done sports etc, even he agrees most these days are useless fatties It seems far more so with these women PCSos I see every day. Half of em are wider than they are tall . Surely there not inspiring confidence in the police force ? They wouldn't stand a f***ing hance of catching anyone

Is the dog letting them go on purpose ? So that it can course and catch them again ? What cross is it ? I'm no expert but it might sound like that is happening, what is the dog like retrieving a dummy etc ...

How did you go about sanding it out mate ? My CZ 243 is a little tight on one side and I was thinking of doing similar ... -
I really fancied a NIKON PROSTAFF 4x32, whats this like for a 22lr ? There about £120 , but from what I have read seem to be a tidy lil scope. Is 4x32 enough for a 22lr, the bloke in the gunshop reckon'd that you'd hardly be able to see anything at 50-100 yards. But I doubt that. Most rabbits with a 22lr I imagine would be taken around 40-75 yards ish ?

Wanna know the easy solution to having loads of cash an all ? 1. Get a few million quid 2. Put it in a high interest account 3. Live well off all that interest Same logic, but a much better idea. this time next year we'll all be loaded

They look nice pups pal, whats the breeding of em like ? -
I still have no idea what fooking purpose the monkeys served ? lol
-
Even if you get the parents doing the job I suppose its no guarantee, just try and find a litter that is worked and put the time and effort into your dog Hope everything comes well for you pal

What do you want the dog to do in an ideal world ? Personally I'd like a dog for rabbiting but possibly around 25" mark so IF the ban were even revoked I would have the POSSIBILITY to hunt other legal quarry without having to get a different dog in. Thats just me though. I have spoken to a bloke who has bred beddy crosses for generations at a show and he is breeding in whippet sized ones to bring size to around 22"-24", he also says if anything ever changes he'll just start breeding bigger dogs back into his line. His is a long term view tho where as mine is the 1 dog view.

It's alright saying get out and see em, I've not got a lurcher and have asked a few times around different places to see various crosses work, eg collie cross/ beddy cross etc but you wont get no one that would take someone unknown out I have some land of my own that I shoot but you also hear stories off lads about not taking lads out on your lads case they come back without ya. Unless you known a few people etc already in the game it can be a challenge, Can see why so many people go to hancock etc
-
Sounds like a good laugh amongst the lads, long as it was just a small nip

My mates got some land up there, a few rabbits about but you'd be very lucky to hit double numbers I think, oh n I managed to squeek a fox in on the lamp but he was only a young'un and he let him go as were only about for rabbits

barley, wheat, steam rolled oats, chicken corn ... I've attracted them to feed with all of these, also liquid molasses etc etc Only had pics / videos on my game camera though , If I had kept feeding the area and stalking it I would of bagged some but had to ease off due to starting a course and going part time, so funds are a bit tight atm
