disarming the general public is an ongoing trend encouraged by the people above politicians through out the world .No air guns ,bows or sling shots will be every where in time .America is just another nail .The fact there are far more violent countries than America with less guns .and there are countries with as many guns in the community as America and no violence is ignored .Long term I think the bad press affect us .World wide gun control of the masses is coming all we can do is try to slow it up.

Time to buy a gun cabinet?
barrywhite replied to secretagentmole's topic in General Airgun Discussion
a the ONE BIG THING no one mentions is why a license at all ..Air guns as a piece of equipment or a product available to the public without a license . cause a lot less harm and damage then a lot of other equipment and products available to the public with out a license .Air gun shooting as a sport has to be the safest sport to do .if you dont count tiddly winks . -

Time to buy a gun cabinet?
barrywhite replied to secretagentmole's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I read years back if Labours crime reduction laws years back could prove to be working and gun crime dropped then no new laws ect were necessary .Even at that time the police said there is no big problem with airguns .So being responsible owners has not worked .MacAskills new chant is what the 21 century needs .Ironic they want to legalize drugs for the 21 century it seems .So convicted drug dealers like Sharon McMillan will be able to sell drugs to people like murdering drug addict Mark Bonini with out fear of braking the law .I read somewhere MacAskill was nicked for being drunk in Wembley -
Time to buy a gun cabinet?
barrywhite replied to secretagentmole's topic in General Airgun Discussion
The problem I see with this legislation coming in is .Scotland could be come a wash with cheap illegal and abandoned air guns ,some falling in to the hands of children who just want a laugh for a day.The problem they want to stop. Then the usual bad press it only needs one big issue then the c..p will drift down to England . -
Time to buy a gun cabinet?
barrywhite replied to secretagentmole's topic in General Airgun Discussion
the good thing about air guns is the casual way they can be used .If you need to shout a problem rat rabbit pigeon squirrel ect .the problem may come one year not the next so one or two shots a year may be all that is needed for some people. also already millions of air gun users shoot a home no problems so why is shooting at a club now necessary .as for criminal checks x criminals have access to air guns now that is not causing problems .....so I think most of us will not be ok . -
Air guns to be licenced in scotland.
barrywhite replied to jmj121's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I do think the government have thought this through .they used the emotional response of the Scottish population to death or Andrew Morton and THE English telling them what to do , with there Scottish gun laws to get elected .Now the MacAskills of this world are on the political gravy train all is fine .What happens to air gun owners is not relevant .The fact that airguns in comparison with a lot of equipment and activities our masters allowed us ,the air gun gives no real problems .500,000 air guns in Scotland if MacAskill was to be believed it should be a blood bath . -
I found the lightning is a bit of a nightmare to shoot ,being a light gun and having a load of kick ,correct hold is real important .Also my lightnings crown was a joke I had to fix mine .the problem may not just be pellets .

I got one for my mates kid .even with the s... trigger and poor build quality of the gun I was shocked at how accurate the gun is .

If I was to tune a gun .If the b2 ect was second hand ok ,but if you are going to get a new b2 ect I would spend the money on a second hand gun that was a better make and quality and tune that. -
does a silencer make much difference
barrywhite replied to festa's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I think the silencer stops the barrel moving up when the gun is shot so no silencer the shots are higher also I think if the baffles in the silencer if not perfect they cause some inaccuracy .So a silencer that is just a well made big empty can is the best silencer for accuracy .a bit bulky and it will still change the point of impact but tight groups. no real proof of this just my limited experience .I have had a whisper silencer I put electrical tape around the baffles 2 or 3 or 4 turns not sure but enough to hold the baffles in the center of the tube .Before the tape they floated all over -
also a reading of power levels with guns presure at 190 bar and 140 bar will be different .when the gun is at 140 bar is will be closer to the top of the power curve .So what presure was in the gun when your gun was tested.

Question about ft/lb's and grain weights
barrywhite replied to WoodsmanJim's topic in General Airgun Discussion
11.7 ftlbs 13.5 grains .I would guess that would be a .22 spring gun and giving the best possible performance .If a heavier pellet was use the gun would shot 10.5 ..11ftlbs .If it was a pcp gun shooting a 13.5 grain pellet at 11.7 ftlbs if a heavier pellet was used the gun may shoot at 12..12.5 ftlbs .So the pcp would say shooting 11.7 ftlbs 16 grain so a 13.5 grain pellet will shoot at 10.5 ..11 ftlbs......just a guide not just pellet weight affects power. -

the only problem for me if I used that laser sight and light is you would have to leave the torch and laser on the gun once you set it up .It may be a pain sighting up the laser every time you put the laser sight on the gun .If I was shooting at night just a good light on the gun would be fine for me.I have never used a torch and a laser together .I have used a torch on its own fine,I have used a laser turned down but with a night vision fine.I find bright lasers scare stuff at night a bit .

piston buttoning
barrywhite replied to James Anthony Bateman's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I did it to a webley omega ,but I have a poor quality lathe ,drilling machine.I cannot see how you could button a piston with out these machines .You drill the side of piston with a flat bottom drill 5mm ish dia .You drill in a to the side of piston 1mm 2mm or so not right through in three correct places .Then turn up three bits of derlin 5mm ish dia xxxxlong that are a tight fit .into the drilled holes glue the derlin buttons into the holes super glue .when the glue is dry turn the buttons xxxlong down by placing the piston into a lath chuck .turn the buttons down until the piston is a nice f
