The Most 'powerful' Pellet
barrywhite replied to Skot Ruthless Teale's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
light pellets are the most powerful out of a spring gun usually but some light pellets may be hard lead or a tight fit in the barrel ,slowing down the pellet a bit . -
some were on the net there is or was a vid of someone trying to shoot rats with a .25 .They dont do to well because when the rats hear the sound of the gun they move, the person shooting then misses . So rainbow trajectory is not going to be a problem you will have to get close .

the lightning is a light weight gun so the recoil is very harsh also the trigger pull is ,or can be heavy .So the lightning can be shot accurately but it takes practice .Look up vids on how to shoot spring air guns.

Fitting A Gas Ram ?
barrywhite replied to Blackbriar's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I fitted a gas ram in a lightning after my spring broke ,it shot well for a time, but stated to leak .Oil was visible leaking out of the ram ,the power then dropped .This happened after a short time of use ,2000 pellets maybe not sure exact ,in about six months .So I fitted a good quality spring with a tight plastic spring guide and a top hat .After a bit of use the guns power dropped a little as the spring bedded in ,put in a washer to bring the power back up .The gun shoots well for years .I did leave the gas ram loaded all the time when out shooting I do not leave the spring gun cocked when -
I have one ok ish .you can make a much better night vision set up your self ,explained on this sight .The yukon are a bit better than the home made night vision you dont have wires and stuff all over you gun when out shooting but the image from the home made night vision is lots better for less money .The home made night vision can be used day and night by clipping on and of the gun .If you use the yukon you have to take sights on and of .my yukon does not have ao .some new ones do .I use both yukon and home made .you need an extra ir illuminator for the yukon

I f you dont want to sit and wait .you can go round kicking the tree that there nests are in or shoot at the nests, sometimes the squirrels run out .

I have done a little testing .A LITTLE TESTING I fell pcp loose a little power in the cold and spring guns get a little bit more power in the cold .This is just my limited testing but I feel I am correct but I could be wrong .

you could file a bit of the scope rings to make it fit .I always get good quality two piece mounts .

I have an old mark 1 with one power setting .I shoot it from 150 + bar down to 125 bar fill pressure this gives a constant 11.5 ft lbs .Screwing the bottle on is a little tricky, screwing the bottle of and then back on you loose 10 bar of pressure .I pump my gun up to 160 bar unscrew bottle then when I reattach the bottle I am at 150 bar and ready to go .I do like my verminator I have a hw100 also , the verminator is comparable to the hw 100 .If you pump up the verminator fully you will get a lot more shots than the hw100 but you will get a power curve .I would think the mark 2 is similar to t

I bungey my gun to my motor bike in a bag is that ok.

If its working properly 150 good price .the screws in the stock kept coming loose on mine [ some shake proof washers ] and the spring broke quite early on . I think the gun is over priced when new compared to say hw 95 .you have the later model and your trigger is supposed to be better than my early model .also the gun has to be held very loose when shot this hard to do with a heavy trigger .I have shot loads of rat and rabbits with mine .

If you get a good quality rifle and you dont like shooting for some STRANGE reason you can sell the gun .If you get the gun second hand quality gun you will be able to sell the gun for what you payed for it .My friend got a cfx gamo 177 and a cheap sight new the gun is ok ,but I got a second hand tx 200 with a quality sight for 30 quid less .I would get a quality gun because if you get a cheap gun you will want a better gun in time .So if you want a gun to shoot holes in cans get any cheap thing but if you want to shoot accurately ,shooting accurately is what shooting is about get a quality g

Dome Heads Vs Hollow Points
barrywhite replied to Lewis Tisdall's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
dome pellets only ..., in a spring gun as light a pellet as possible that shoots accurate , in a pcp which ever weight pellet that shoots accurate a heavy pellet gives power a light pellet gives a flat trajectory . -
Mk1 Airsporter S Power Problems.
barrywhite replied to WoodsmanJim's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
If we assume the old leather washer is ok, maybe it has expanded a bit and got a bit tight and will go back to what it was in time .Or the old leather washer was / is almost finished and shooting the gun with tap open has finished it of ...If the gun piston feels slow when shot,a tight main washer ..maybe ..if the piston now feels fast a damaged main washer ...maybe it is no longer trapping air allowing the piston to move faster. -
hw 100

that gun is maybe an fx air gun with rws on it ,fx are good guns if the gun is working properly it would be ok I like fx airguns after owning one .
-
what I have read and understand is the gun is heavy so that is good to cancel out recoil but to get the best at 12 ft lbs ether the rod in the piston has to be lengthened or some length has to be added to the piston head , this is to lessen the volume of air in the air camber before the gun is shot . ..So if no matter what spring was in the gun say ..it could only ever shoot at say 14 ft lbs ish then your air cylinder volume would be the correct size, and with the correct spring the gun would shoot nice at 11.5 ft lbs .

I may try them .the fact they are a strong pellet if you get the right size they could go down the barrel fine and I dont like the way the theoben mag damages the skirts of soft pellets .
-
I use the 177 7.5 grain out of spring guns .I like them I would be happy to try them in 22 but never bothered as of yet. They dont work will out of pcps I dont think , I use some old mosquito express or stating to use falcon accuracy plus .
