you are better to get a tight spring guide for your gun if possible .a spring guide made to fit the spring in your gun .a tuning kit of some kind I havent used one my self but I have made spring guides . I have used motor bike chain spray years and years ago but I didnt have a chrono and I didnt study the results to close to how well it worked .If i had some chain spray and gun in bits I would give it a go .But some one may know better.I would not go and get a can of spray special .

if you have got a new tin of h n ftt that could be the reason .Also a spring piston air gun relies on timing where the piston is and when the pellet starts moving. I dont know the ins and outs of this ,but I have read a bit and have noticed pellets behave differently in the same gun with different power . a light pellet is the best thing to shoot out of a spring gun for power . So I shoot some lightish pellets over a chrono the most powerful are then checked for accuracy .The most accurate pellets are then used .If I wanted a laugh I would shoot bisley magnums out of a springer and loose lot

get a single shot pcp that will keep cost down and in some respects you will get a better gun .s400 being cheaper than a s410 A s410 can load quicker but a s400 can be decocked .If your target is no longer there to shoot after loading your gun you can decock a s400 and wait for it to reemerge but with a s410 you must wait with a loaded gun or shoot the gun wasting a pellet , air and also making a noise .Sometimes I lose track of shots in a mag and shoot air only at rabbits ect because I dint realize there is no pellet in the gun .Mags are better at night for loading in the dark if you dont

you have this going on two threads............................if you are hitting thing at a range then your gun is probably ok if your gun is shooting a bullseye at 10 yards an inch high at 20 yards and a bullseye at 30 yards then an inch low at 40 yards with aa field then you gun is probably fine .These measurements are about to give you the idea .

Hw100Kt Definitely Loosing Air.

if it is a new gun then its back to the shop I would guess .when you filled the gun are you sure you did not pump any dirt or such into the gun .that is the only thing you good have done to damage the gun .but i think there is a filter in the gun to stop even that problem . -
Lost 25 Bar Overnight...
barrywhite replied to MickHowes's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
temperature can also affect the bar .If you filled gun quickly and in a hot room then placed the gun in a cold place this could affect the bar reading .If your gun is a hw 100 and it is leaking the o ring between the air cylinder and the action is a good first suspect . -
I use both because have I different guns .Some guns I got cheap , some I wanted a gun type that I could only get in 22 ,some I inherited ,and some I was given .Though both calibers work 177 is the best cal at 12 ft lbs I believe from my time shooting .If I am shooting at close range I dont care what cal but long range 177 .

any pellet 4.51 4.52 or 4.53 will work fine but one size may work better in your gun .every thing that is made is a little different .so different barrels have very very different sizes . get 4.52 first as a start see how they shoot then get a different size next time .but different batches of pellets of the same size can be different so dont worry to much .

Best Pellets For Rabbiting?
barrywhite replied to MickHowes's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
try falcon accuracy + or similar [jsb express or jsb rs ???]..defiant the light ones ,light pellets loose a little power from a pcp but are very fast I will use a light pellet like accuracy + from pcp and defiant from springer I dont like defiant from pcp but there are lots of sizes I have never experimented that much but some people love them out of pcps. -

How To Reduce Spring Length!!!
barrywhite replied to Nathan1991's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I did have a square section spring in my hw 35 a long long time ago .but I did change it for a standard spring later .if you need a spring press to get the spring in the gun I would say it is to long .I was able to get the spring in and out of my hw 35 wearing leather gloves in case ,I never needed a spring press .It took a little effort but it was not to bad .With the square section spring the gun stayed together by luck I would say .As I have said I cannot see how collapsing a spring the way it is shown can work .If the spring still works and stays working it is luck .I have just cut 2 sprin -
How To Reduce Spring Length!!!
barrywhite replied to Nathan1991's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Look up hardening and tempering high carbon steel .this is about temps different steel is different temps ...to make a coil spring the hole spring has to be heated to 850c every bit then cooled rapidly every bit ..that is called hardening the spring is very stiff at this point and can snap very easily the spring has to now be tempered ...by heating to 300c and cooled rapidly every bit of the spring at the same time .you now have a spring .any heating of the spring will change this setting .if a small area of the spring is heated then the properties of the metal will change .If a small area of -
Diy Silencer For A Springer Air Rifle ?
barrywhite replied to robthos's topic in General Airgun Discussion
they do work on a spring gun , but it seems to me any thing you add to a spring gun changes the point of impact .If you make a moderator it will also have to no move when cocking a shooting the gun AT ALL .A bit of floppy plastic pipe may stop the sound but may not aid accuracy .A lot of the sound from a spring gun is the mechanical spring and stuff that can be quietened down or get a good gun like tx 200 is quiet by design .Or shoot from inside a room through a slightly open door or window into a pile of rags for your target .Make sure you are well in the room and back from the door or window -

i have only used chairgun .I use it as a rough guide and check it out later in the field .another inaccuracy is the magnification of the scope the number may say 8x mag on the scope but in reality it could be 7x ..7.5x...8.5x..9x ect . -

Using A Very Very Short Spring
barrywhite replied to Nathan1991's topic in General Airgun Discussion
if you put weight and packing into the piston it may work , but the rest of your spring may fail .you wont know until you try if you have an xs springs or an ox spring I would think you have a chance . -
Using A Very Very Short Spring
barrywhite replied to Nathan1991's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I have wondered how good this collapsing a spring is going to be .To harden and temper spring steel the metal of the hole spring has to be heated to an exact temperature and cooled fast then the hole spring is heated to another temperature then cooled fast .these temperatures are exact .The process is called hardening and tempering .heating the metal randomly will change the properties of the spring . The hardening and tempering can be a little different with metals of different alloys but the process is still similar and random heating and cooling of a finished spring will destroy it .thats w -
Using A Very Very Short Spring
barrywhite replied to Nathan1991's topic in General Airgun Discussion
did you heat the spring in your gun. if you did that is most probably why your spring snapped heat treating a spring is an exact thing .I once read someone claimed to get a very good shot cycle from a very tuned old bsa meteor .they made a different piston, changed the sweep volume, lots of thing I cannot remember but one thing they did that gave superior performance was a very short ox type spring when fitted it had little to no preload but the piston was weighty . -
Theoben Fenman Or Bsa Lightning Xl
barrywhite replied to Jake w's topic in General Airgun Discussion
if both guns a functioning correctly the theoben has to be favorite .Not sure how hard it would be to fix an old theoben but I would think it would be easier than fixing a new bsa .I dont know what a fenman is like but I know lightnings are not to good and a rapid 7 is a nice gun .
