  5. Hi mate try takeing your dog lamping choose a rabbit which is a long way from any cover get as close as possible then slip it on the rabbit, you should be able to get within 5 yard of a good sitter which is great for a young dog i start my dogs this way and it works for me, i like to move on to ferreting alittle later when they know what rabbits are about, atb mate phil
  6. hello mate , i have just been through the same thing with a springer, who is 8 and the vets told me to bring it in and have it checked over which costs £35 notes, to which i did and they just check the over all condition of the dog, heart, lungs, and if she pass"s then he gives you the all clear, the down sides to breeding from older dogs is they sometime give up pushing the puppies out because they dont have the energy to finish, should this happen the u will need to take her back to the vets for them to give her oxytocine, which will make her start pushing again, which was needed for mine, b
  7. its my view that 10 miles is to much, the dog would need time for its muscles recover let her off in the morning for a good run around, then 2 to 3 miles on the bike at night quality over quantity,i feed mine greyhound food when working or training, with added vits when needed, good food and the right ground work will see u right,i bet you find that if you follow this plan she will have more energy, hope this helps , ps she looks good all the best mate
  8. glad to here your happy with them, all sold now so training mine can start , any problems ring me atb phil
  9. Hi, mate i went to look at his dogs six weeks ago, i was less than impressed , dont get me wrong i have seen some of his dog work in the past and i will say they were very good, but common sense should tell u dont buy a dog if its dam \ sire have never worked, its not so important from the greyhound side i admit, but i like to see a good working sheep dog cover them, then at least you know the sire is trainable and from workers, the flip side of his dogs are at least you know that the cross's are what he says they are, he told me that the only time his stud dogs leave the kennels is when they s
  10. hi dell i have found a home for 2 so far, they will all go in the end i am sure, the main thing is they go to good homes, i own a pest control company i use both the sire and dam for rabbits and they do me well, my best mate has the bitch the first photo, and she from the last litter from them and she is very game, does all he asks and he is well pleased, this is why i bred them again so i could keep 1, my dogs are starting to get on a bit now so i am keeping 1 from these and i am just in the process of mating a working red welsh collie sheep dog to a greyhound, and will be keeping 2 back from

  12. Hi all, i was reading a post on here re mating of lurchers so i thought i would add my 2 pence worth, here goes i have been running and breeding lurchers for my own use as pestie for 16 years now, and over these years seen plenty of bitchs that wouldnt stand from people that want to use my stud dogs, after giving this some thought i went and learned how to artificial inseminate dogs, this has proved to be great and very effective, the problems can be that 1 or the other are matched in size or the bitch wont stand, which i have seen mainly in collie crosses, i would be keen to help anyway i can
  13. mine cost £45 each with chipping , but its gotta be done really
  14. Hi mate i brought one two years ago but have never used it yet, i can see how they can be useful as there would not be so much concusion on there legs and its a gentle way of getting them over strains and bumps, plus you can see how far they have been, i train mine up on the bike or get them to chase the quad, keeping them to just a fast trot for around a mile to start moving up to 2 to 2 and a half miles over a month, then they are ready to lamp, i always say they get lamping fit after 2 weeks of getting back out there on the job, plus all the biking make me fit enough to walk the fields too,
