  1. Dick edmands He told me and my dad he saw a pheasants head pop up over the bottom rail of a wooden 5 bar gate 30 yards away and shot at it with his old air rifle, every time he shot the birds head reapeared after 9 shots it stopped, so he went down to look and 9 birds lay there dead, when he asked my dad to sight in the gun it shot 2ft left lol He loved his lurchers and took my dad out plenty of times only to catch 1 rabbit ever that rabbit so my dad says ran into a feeder and knocked it's self out. My father was convinced that lurchers were no good at lamping until I took him ou

  18. I teach my dogs to work the lamp first, this works for me I find the lamp is a great way to enter a dog and the dog stands a better chance of success, most dogs take to lamping well, once you get them going on the lamp you can start hunting in the day and ferreting, the worst thing in a lamping dog is 1 that's hunts at night, how ever taking rabbits that have just jumped Into the hedge and sat there does require some nose work at times! And a dog that masters that art brings more to the bag, as does a good lamp man, knowledge of the ground you hunt and where the rabbits are likely to be and run
  19. Jabbing a dog because its had a little tear is counter productive and very seldom needed, modern folklore. what your saying is right in some ways chap just if you staple or stitch most vets cover the dog with tablets or a jab. most small tears need no treatments atb phil
  20. The next time this happens try washing out with hibicrub to clean then staple it back together you can buy the staple guns from the countrymans weekly £15. i then give the dogs a covering jab of antibiotics which you can get a bottle from most vets for around £15 FARM VETS ARE THE BEST FOR THIS. I like to keep a first aid box ready in case if you have running dogs its going to happen atb phil
