I was just walking out of my back street the same walk I do twice a day for the last 7 years I've never seen a cat till now
-
Like I say I do feel bad about it because at the end of the day it is someone's pet but it was a accident and I've tryed to make the peace . Thanks for the advice anyway . I just think stuff like this happen gives lads with lurches a bad name you know what do gooders are like if it was a lab or a collie that killed it there wouldn't be much said but because it was a lurcher it was done on purpes if you know what I mean
-
I took the dogs for a walk last night with me little girl and just as I was walking down the back lane they grabbed hold of a cat and killed it in front of the owner it happend so quickly I took her some flowers round this morning but she didn't want to know I feel bad but it was a freak accident so were do I stand if she decides to ring the police ?

I seen Williams dog on a good few times on one and I must say its one of the best rabbiting dogs I've seen the only thing it lacks is another gear in the speed department but it it kills plenty in cover to make up for that if I was wanting a dog purely to work the moor this cross would do the job 10 times over

I think a lot of people want to much £ for pups you just have to look in country mans weekly each week to see what I mean most people I know only sell a handful of pups to cover costs of rearing the pups the majority of them are given away to good dog lads and the ones that do get sold are no more than 100£ that's because they are not in it for money just the love of the sport personally I wood stay wel away from any pups with that sort of price tag
-
That pic of Williams blue dog dose it no favors it's a realy nice put together dog I was out with the black spaniel x whippet of his last Saturday and what a dog it is it will go threw any cover if any one is after a pup this is the litter to get one from . They will make top class rabbiting dogs
-
I bread from my bitch at the age of 4 I didn't keep a pup but I gave 70 percent of them away to good lads and the others I sold just to cover cost the main reson I bread out of my bitch was to see what the pups turned out like I keep in contact with all the lads who got a pup and they let me know how they are getting on most of the pups are showing a lot potenshal so when i need a pup hopefully I can do a repate mating and keep a pup back .
-
I must admit I've herd some good things about your little dog off cupel of different lads good dog lads aswel who know what they are talking about I'm looking forward in seeing it on
-
Would you say the whippet cross springer has been the best up to now will?
-
I was reading an oldish post started off hot meat about his collie cross terrier and got me thinking has any one tried crossing a snack type lurcher over a springer or a cocker or a leggy terrier purely used for flushing stuff out of cover. It mite of been an accidental mating and you've kept one just to see what it turns out like for example
-
I talking to a lad at work today and we got talking about dogs he was on about linen his bitch next year to its half brother I thought it was to close what do other people think about it ?
-
I know mate you can have some good sport in the summer it keeps the dogs ticking over i think once the penny drops and they know what they are hunting you can ave some good days out
-
There is something sadly Rong if a dog that size Canot take a mink
-
How many of you work rivers with your dogs in the summer once the hunting season is over ? On mink and rats

forest replied to wezza's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
Your inbox is full mate pm zola1 he has a lurcher for sale it's wel bread and he is onset he is not a messer -
I don't do any diging but I've put any amount out of cover this season and out of sets of bales I've had some good sport today I put one out of a stick pile near the river
-
I don't think it's luck I just think you need to be genuine dog lad who doesn't see pound sings and need to know the right people to get anything out of Morris's lines . I've seen slack on a few times he is a tuff old dog he will be about 7 he is very onset dog from what I've seen and herd gives a 100% all the time.
-
You are right about the availability side of things but the lads who work these type of dogs aren't in it for money they are bread and kept between them selves the people that are selling them are putting big price tags on them because they are rear and 9 times out of 10 they are selling shit
-
My best mate has got one it has a real good nose on it but it is a bit head strong it s stil the best dog I've seen work water I take it out most days in the summer working the river banks you just have to keep a close eye on it and keep calling it in it's the sister to slack Andy
-
Yea 1 my mates has 1 and it's a really good all rounder it goes threw any cover it's a very versatile dog 1 day he could be working with his hawke the next day it could be ratting then it could be working water I personally think they are a great dog from what I've seen
-
You are right each to there own but to have 4 lurches in there prime how are you going to see there full potential and as for passion I never new it went off how many dogs you have or how many posts you put up .
