  1. A big terrier in tight tubes ain't going to push on as quick as a smaller terrier in big tubes is it, and I never said I'd dig to a harder dog quicker, what was ment was the baying types might not push as much as the harder types and as a result won't be in a stop as quick(if you get what I mean). So to sum up a hard dog at it for an hour may of been in the thick of it longer than an out an out Bayer that's been their for 2 hours.
  2. So you don't think a young dog needs time to push the fox into a stop end?
  3. Yes the amount of time you give depends on the dogs size an temperament, as well as the earth you've put your dog in, and although we have no control over it a lot has to do with the temperament of the quarry
  4. I don't know if this has been mentioned but are you giving him enough time? Some people are to quick with the spade and start digging as soon as contact is made. Let the dog settle into his work load and give him time to push the quarry into a stop. A couple of bangs above before you start digging should move the quarry if it's not in a stop
  5. I want to know which one of you fellas has been using a springer spaniel for digging. Ha ha. The fact of the matter is, as always some anti reporter has decided to write a load of shite and as usual the idiot public take it as gospel. I've read the same things about badger baiting, dog fighting and taking foxes away to be "torn apart" more times than I care to remember and yet terrier work is still here, even the stupidest politician must know its a load of bollocks by now.
  6. Found a coin whilst digging once, I think it was called a black half penny or something like that from if memory serves me right 1600s, thought all my money worrys were over, so looked it up and it was worth 76p well gutted but we had a good dig to my bitch that day so wasn't a total loss
  7. I'd say the deerhound adds a more laid back dog in the kennels, I'd also like to say intelligence but mines thick as shite
  8. Just watched the piss take poacher vid and it bought back many memories, sort of wish I never watched it cause it reminds me how much I missed it. Crying shame they banned it
  9. That's not what I've been told and that was from a top nurse, but maybe I misunderstood, I'll check with him next time I see him
  10. Amoxicillin left over, it's the same for dogs and humans and despite what vets tell you they don't go out of date
  11. Proper misery arse in kennels, a bit happier in the field Dug and shot or whatever you put
  12. I dunno paulus I've just got a sixth sense about these things
  13. If the question is how to film rabbits lamping I think the hard part would be getting the rabbit to hold the lamp
  14. I've got a sneaky suspicion that blackbuck doesn't like Liamkelly
  15. I never said they can run into vehicles unharmed but let's face it, if a lurcher ran into a car I don't think it would be much better off than a greyhound
  16. I had a fella ask me what dogs I had once, so I told him I kept lurchers " oh " he said "I'd never keep one of them they have brittle necks" " how do ya work that one out" I says " I know a few people that have had them and died from a broken neck" "Well how did they break their neck" I asked sort of knowing what the reply would be. "They ran into a tree" Now that was the answer I knew that he'd say so I already had my come back sorted "you run into a tree at 30 odd mph head first and see how brittle your neck is". I think he changed his view of lurchers after that and let's face it, it's
  17. Bosun ya cheeky b*****d, if it wasn't for me you wouldn't of had any terriers on your tally
  18. Just because you don't agree with something doesn't make it wrong. The Labour Party didn't agree with hunting and they didn't like the people who did it, they knew the facts but banned it anyway. Sounds very similar to some of the people on this thread. Here's a few stories just to so how uneducated people can be just to force a point, when me and the missus were first going out she told me I shouldn't kill foxes," why? "I asked," because their endangered " she said, "how do you work that out" was my reply, "well I've never seen one". "And nor will you sat on your arse watching telly" that put
  19. Elephants are a pest they destroy everything, that's why nobody in Africa gives a toss about this elephant, truth be told if it wasn't for the money they make through hunting and tourism they'd kill them all. The elephant was old enough to of passed any worth while genes on anyway, but the true question I'd be asking is why did nobody know this specimen? Why was he alone? Sounds to me as if he may of been pushed out of somewhere and was living a solitary life, maybe he wasn't as good a specimen as they'd have us believe.
  20. This is a big ask but a friend we go digging with has had a few knee operations so can no longer come out digging, but if we got a quad then he'll be able, so what I'm after is a 4x4 farm quad, honda, Kawasaki or anything considered, must be powerful enough to pull a trailer with a couple of lazy fat b*****ds in. Within 2 hours of liverpool and for about £800. Thanks
  21. I thought I read somewhere it's a yard dog now and he's dug it twice since. I might be wrong but I'm not all that concerned to bother routing though old posts. It's his pup and his choice just not what I'd go for
  22. We will be alright then, we can't catch a normal rabbit never mind a black one
