Just wondering has anyone ever heard of this "bloodline" of border terriers " flanback" a mate is thinking of buying one but I told him to get a bloodline name or the name of the breeder, and that's what he came back to me with! Of course a nice Russell x part isn't good enough for him :-) he has to go for a rare working breed!

Well lads yee enjoy your "sport" and I'll enjoy my pest control! Ps, alot of Yee are calling foxes "game" they aren't game there vermin!!!!!!!
-
To dee mac , your missing the point , i like to see my dogs working as much as the next man ! But remember diggings not a sport it's pest control ! Full stop! I've been going on digs since I was ten , that's 18 years ago ! And digging myself for the last 10 year! We've never let our quarry go and there's still plenty of digging every winter! To bryan, you don't have to mention the law in uk or Ireland I know the law , And to old timer Your entitled to your opinions , but I'd stick to useful posts not making stupid accusations bout another member!
-
What's wrong with stopping digging for a while in a area that foxes are gone scarce , Id rather do half the digging and kill what I dig , your forgetting why were still allowed to dig! Were allowed to dig to control numbers , not to have abit a crack with the quarry and then let it off when your finished, so you can have abit of crack with the same fox the next day! But your welcome to your opinions ! As I am mine!

Hundreds seem abit hard to believe, but me and my digging buddy had close to 50 foxes " dug " last year between 3 terriers! Now if your counting foxes bolted then I'd bring the number close to 70, I know this seems hard to believe but it's the truth!!!

terriermaniac replied to terriermaniac's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Well wilko!!! your the messer and a unhelpful one at that, I know my own breeding not you , and where ever a red bitch pup is found shell be well tested before breeding from! And yes i wanna keep my line going ive two half brothers and there both excellent dogs i also owned there mother! These will be bred also to two bitches belonging to my mate and then run on till proven and then the best selected! You hardly think you start a line by just one litter of pups do you????So think what you will captain wilko , I'm done corresponding with you! -

Just a remark I have to make! If I had of started a topic saying I was looking for a "black" patterdale or fell type terrier! I don't think there'd be half the interrogation from Yee folk! So what's the problem with someone wanting to breed on red dogs instead of black or White dogs????? -

terriermaniac replied to terriermaniac's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Well wilko, I've never been to a show in my life and probably never will be, , I'm hung up on the colour cause I have a good red dog and a brown dog, and I'd like to keep my own line of reds going , God the world I'd be a boring place if all dogs were black or White! -

Exactly Liam, that's why I'm seeking breeders , I'm not after the first litter of red pups that turn up! -
Nice pup delboy!
-
Well neill i wish id had as good as record as that but dogs down here that size ud have to pick and choose your holes! And rab McKay ! Your correct in all your points! And I've spent as much time as any man wondering about terriers lol :-)
-
Glad to here it Lowry, I bred mine down to small size as well but still with enough balls to mix it when needed, and I can go a couple days in a row every week without been down terriers! But out of all my digging friends I'm the odd one out , they keep the big hard dogs , but sometimes they can't reach there quarry and half the time when they do there out of action for a couple a weeks to recover :-)
-
Hi folks I've just noticed lately that , good quality traditional sounders are gone scarce , well around my area they are! I know there a must have in the uk , with all the regulations :-), but I find it's easy enough to pick up the harder bred dogs but the sounder seems to be gone scarce, I'd like to here other Irish members views about this !

Well Liam they'd want to be decent or they wouldn't get fed in my kennel! -
I'm using a 3-12x56 30m tube ir nikko sterling nighteater , a cheap scope but it works fine, my friend was a bit sick cause it's just as good as one of his high priced leoupolds! IMHO there wicked value for money!
-
Advice wanted on scopes please
terriermaniac replied to k9delboy's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
That's night vision scope I think , the ir stands for infra Red not illuminated recticle, you won't need a lamp with that :-) -
I used a 17 hmr for almost two year and must of shot over twenty foxes with it , max was 150 yards , it rolled em all over, but rabbits got scarce here so I turned to a deer rifle , but for a guy/girl that shot alot of rabbits and wanted to shoot the odd fox , I'd recommend nothing but the 17 hmr , I miss mine,,,,
