  1. I appreciate that views on the effectiveness of this type of trap differ widely. However I understand that they may be useful in a setting where foxes are used to coming into yards where they come into contact with fencing and metalwork and so may not be as shy towards the cage. I have such a situation where I'm considering a cage trap. Does anyone have any views on the best dimensions for such a trap and any recommendations on commercially availed ones? Cheers Novice
  2. Well done. Interesting to note the colour variation as well. Novice
  3. Monarch country products sika sack will fit the bill. I've had 2 roe does in my standard monarch sack and carried them out while dragging another. Hard work! To be honest I find the sack very well thought out and comfortable once you've got it on your back. It was the awkward dragging that did for me, not the deer in the sack. Novice

  7. Any thoughts on how he lost the eye, once you'd had a chance to inspect the carcass? An injury while in velvet, to explain the antler, or do you think the antler developed as a malform as a result of the existing injury? Malforms always interest me, so apologies for the questions! Novice
  8. Me...well almost! Before I was really into deer, a mate's dad had a pair of fallow running with his cattle and coming into the haylage ring with them. Not around when I want them these days though! Novice

  11. Just wait until they start dropping all the mature forestry in the Tweed Valley and Eskdalemuir. I reckon there will be a few sika looking for a new home and kielder isn't a million miles away. Once they've got a decent foothold there, they'll be there for good! Novice

  13. Monarch roe sacks are the most robust and well designed that I've seen. Hardly know you've got an animal in them as weight distribution and straps are really well thought out. Novice
