  1. just keep an eye on dog pal as i had my golly x honey pup down here in cornwall while im contracting and was running him one evening and he started coughing, thought nothing at the time just gave him cough syurp but he got lungworm which im told is very common in south west, spent 3 days in vet and died, he went from being uncontrobale livley pup to not wanting to exersize or anything. im not saying your dogs has it but i lost a very promising pup and was gutted, hope he's ok. atb, keith

  7. everybody is different as and when to start working their dogs. my whippets prob start ferreting around 12 months old maybe a bit more there still developing in my eyes even at that age. " you start them early you finish them early" some are lucky when a dog self enters and gets on fine but others i've seen never as good. everyone has there own ways of doing things mate some start em at 6 months old ferreting and i've seen 2 wel bred bitches started too early by impatient owners and both ended up opening up on chase !! thats a really bad fault in my eyes and im sure its because the owners pus

  13. having lived in ireland for 13 years seen a few kerry blues most were showy type but seen 3 or 4 that worked, game little dogs but one of them was real bad with kids more than likely not the breed just brought up by a nob but i reckon it would be decent x if the right stuf was found which im sure would be hard. seen a few irish terrier x greyhounds first and second crosses and were very good dogs. keeps us updated on your breeding program mate and see if you can get some pics of them k blues. all the best, cheers keith

  18. i dont believe the minshaw strain has died out, there was and still is some genuine lads who have them for last 25 year plus... kept the line going with sons and daughters from blue etc and line bred from worker to worker so i dont think they would have died out after 3 generations, yes some may be diluted but only from being bred from minshaws to other lurchers and bred away from the minshaw blood and there will be people who claim to have minshaw blood and it may only be 1/8th or less. my dog is only half bred minshaw but has blue 3 times in hes blood through the fathers side and a mate of mi

  21. thanks alot lads for replying, yes i think the dog is worth more than 400 but i wanted to be fair and tell truth about dog but to be honest im going to keep him now or give him to one of my pals. your right tomo about buying a kc whippet or border or even gundog for that matter is usually 350 to 400 a pup, dog is not and to be honest i dont think he will ever be a deer dog but ill keep him and use him at what hes good at. never know what might happen in future, thanks alot for all the replies, best wishes and happy xmas to all, cheers keith
  22. cheers mate, ive never heard him say hes dogs are the best but i dont want to get involved in any minshaw slagging match, the dog is good on big and small rabbits and is well trained but as you say not all minshaws do the bigger stuff and i can say the same for bull xs coll x etc. there is know guarantees in lurchers all we can do is breed from worker to worker and with a bit of luck get good dogs but dogs that do everything are hard to come by. cheers keith.
  23. fair enough mate, each to their own, the dog is expensive but is good at what hes does and ive fed him the best looked after him proparly and put hell of alot of time into him, i know that on the right ground id make that money back on rabs/hares in no time at all. cheers keith
