  1. if it is just a kit that you are going to get this year wait until his Balls drop then get him into the vet, this will be about december /jan time, then you best to wait 12 wks before putting himwith your jill, he be ok with her but the minute she shows any sign of coming into season remove him until his time has reached then put him back with her. the average cost is about £60
  2. you have to wait until the swelling is totaly away then she will deal with the hob if he tries to mount her, but if any signs she still in season she might let him have his wicked way with her.
  3. Think your mate pulling you leg pal, a jill will ot take another jill out of season, even if you make a mini strap on vibrator.
  4. Thats the poles for you they will eat anything, imean look they come her gofishing and take anything they get, small perch roach jack pike to make fish cakes, dont disagree with this but the poles will take as many as they can catch with many a pond being mpty by the end of the season. so looks like they no cotton on to unwanted ferrets and thought they put them to use by eating them.
  5. Had this once with one of my jills, i looked at her and then had to look back as i seen her mouth was open abit and her tougne was showing as if she was being cheeky and sticking her tounge out but when i opened her mouth i found the small bone stuck to her tooth at the back was quite hard to dislodge so got small screwdriver and it poped out with ease now i just let them eat most of the rabbit and now that it is coming into the warmer weather the rabbits wont be left in as long as during the winter months.
  6. take end of collar, slip into buckle by about 5mm, hold onto this, place collar over ferrets head, like a lasso, then do up collar, as stated above, if your worried about the ferret biting you, then its not handled enough, if your not worried, whats the problem top tip this only when you buckle it up you find the ferret will stick its head through the loop no problem.
  7. The longer you have your ferret on its own the harder it might be to get it to accept another one, get another one from a a jit that way there less chance of fighting, and the more you have the more enjoyment you get from them not just in the field but when sitting out the back in the summer watching them run about there run playing.
  8. Would think it for the same reason as anyone else looking for one, it would be to take his jills out of season, shows he cares about there welfare.
  9. I also had a jill who i got when she was about 3 like this she would fight with any ferret the only one i managed to settle her with was my vas hob and even then i had to wait until she was in season before she would let him within 12" of her, think some ferrets that have lived on there own and then try to introduce them to other is when this problem shows.
  10. Phantom pregnancies are very common with both jabbed jills and them who have been with a vas hob, this should die down in due course.
  11. Takes 10 to 14 days for the swelling to go down, but if left for 24 hrs then i would expect some slight brusing to let you know that the job is done.
  12. Vets will vary on telling you how long to wait a good vet will say ayleast 10 wks but i normally get mine done then wait about 12 weeks before trying him out.
  13. from the local building site go ask if the any off cuts and i sure you find you will get some, if they say no atleast you know where to go back to that nite hehe
  14. thats the most ridiculous thing iv herd. all you need a ferret to do is be not very good at killing rabbits. as long as they dont skulk bit or keep laying up. i know some work earths deeper and faster than others but £200 i dont know whos the bigger fool they man with more money than sense or the ferret cuddler who turned down 2 ton! Money aint everything mate.
  15. are you saying theres a lack of ferrets up there ? if so are there any good game fairs to go to could bring some up and sell em up there i got far two many at the mo and like scotland You would not be allowed to sell them at a game fair in scotland the cops would soon be on your case as i have seen many folk try and fail before. I do alot of ferret pr at the game fairs in scotland.
  16. Mate you vet knows nowt about ferrets, take it from me i run a rescue get them along to another vet and get them jabbed and they will be fine. using a vas hob is only going to do the same as the jill jab, i have hed jills handed over thet have been in season for double what you saying and the jab works fine every time. PS....not like a vet to turn money down.
  17. Aye but just think if it had got you at the base of the hail you would have a reminder for about 6 mths of what happened. hehe
  18. Holds 7 jills easy size is 8 ft x 4 ft x5 ft
  19. Got offered £200 for mine at a game fair then when said no the guy asked me to phone him when i bred her, told him she was spayed (i lied) and he went nuts saying a waste of a good ferret. the next year when doing pr at the same game fair i was offered a lab pup with papers, but had a lab and dont want another.up here in scotland it harder to get the dew and folk will pay mad money, the ferret i talking about died last weekend aged 10 and i have got 2 others aswell.
  20. I have 13 ferrets just now and my boy of 4 handles them all except 1, this is my 75% hybrid who is fine depending on how you pick her up but have got her to addd speed into my line as i know from experiance from my good friend, when he did it. ok it was 3 generations back but now his ferrets are tame and lick lightning thru the warrens i have never seen any ferret work so fast.
  21. no just the first litter this year. my mate took 4 of them to put on his jill as all apart from 3 of hers died. that takes a bit of the pressure off i guess. What was the reason that her young died? and do you think it was a wise move giving her more young as she already lost some babies? the main reasons she has lost them will prob be. 1. bad mum lack of interest. 2. your mate could not keep away from looking in and she got stressed. 3. not producing enought milk to keep them going. 4. over protective and covers them and they unable to breath.
  22. I use chudleys or should i say farms own brand but still chudleys with own brand sticker, this is far better for ferrets than the pets at home stuff and about half the price of james wellbeloved. where in scotland you from mate.
  23. Cardross is quite good but last year was a total wash out.
  24. First one will be cardross game fair mate at the lake of montieth think it the first wkend in may. try google search. Heard that there is no Terrier show at this event. Just Terrier racing on the Saturday and Sunday. Think the competition from Neilson Terrier Show was to much for them BASC website confirms only family dog show on the Saturday. Save your money and come to Neilson and support the real working Terrier lads. Went to the cardross game fair last yr on the sat and the neilson terrir show on the sundaywith my good friend joe ... you might know him he breeds sporting l
