  5. well you need to learn the big bad world then mate, some people will and do take experiance as gospal over sound advice.
  6. i might run a rescue and have never once claimed to be an expert let alone a resident expert, there are some folk on this forum who do give good sound advice and i have no doubt they know as much as me about ferrets if not more, but then we have the folk like yourself that keep coming on giving people some dumb ass advice. mate stick to a gold fish and even then i doubt it last a week in your care.
  7. 13 and 14 yrs old, aye whatever.. and your point is ?. ferrets living to this age with good looking afer is not uncommon but to leave them in season it highly doubtfull you telling the truth. there you have it im sure it the point he sayng but trying to be polite about it. Oh ok, I'm a liar then. self confessed by the look of it.
  8. my mate has owned pure polecats and hybrids for years and gets bitten on a regular basis but still wont wear a glove.

  10. The hormone implant is best given before they come into season .. it prevents them coming into season.. not brings them out your right kay forgot to say that.
  11. i know of a few that have died being left in season but also know of the one jill that died when given the jill jab. and about 3 or 4 jills that have died after being spayed, (this down to the vets not knoing the jill should be out of season before being spayed.
  12. Dont listen to some of the above mate if a jill is left in season she will become very distressed and prance up and down her cage and will loose condition, however this is the best you can hope for as there a high risk she will get aplasic anemia this is a bone marrow disease and alot not all ferret die from this every year, some ferrets will manage to recover from it for maybe a year or two but would you be willing to risk your best working jill knowing she might die if the following options are not taken. 1, get her spayed 2, jill jab, price varys from vet to vet 3, hormone implant 4, put
  13. Working it !, wouldn't fit down a rabbit hole , it's morbidly obese, cruelty if you ask me. There no for work there to win a lovely red rossette the angora is not obese mate he was only 5 mths old when that pic was taken and has slimmed down a good bit now, dont work him and would never work him. as for picking up red rossettes got to say it not the case i just some ferret shows and angoras are marked down and never placed. can only speak for shows in scotland tho.
  14. And I love someone stuck in the past. Things change, knowledge improves. Or do you still feed milk and slops and snap teeth? Good answer droid, Well there has been a few posts about folk like tj claiming to have owned greyhound ferret bas no one has yet managed to put up a picture or give any real hard proof they did/do excistso if any person can prove it then please share it with the world because as i see it, it is only a myth and old codjers like tj thinking back to there youth and since that was alsong time ago his memory might be playing tricks. i,m not that old
  15. go ask yourr vets what they did when doing the op some simply just cut tubes and others cut and tie/stitch them, your vet might be willing to redo the op but will prob want to charge you a fee to send part away to make sure it done right this will prob set you back about £50
  16. lucky me then that im no fool since ive never paid for a ferret, and ive even got an angora ferret the girl paid £200 for and only had him 7 weeks before giving him to me. £200 ferret for nowt, bargain here a pic with angora my boys pet.

  18. well i have dark eyed whites that any time they been out proved no use. also have a silver jill who is steady and will work all day to empty a warren but think polecats for some reason if you get lacky are a bit sharper than other colours.
  19. Id call that more of a greyhound ferret than a ''micro'' they are about six'' long. Looks like a nice ferret all the same. I maybe wrong about the micro/greyhound but it's one of them   it is just a small ferret plain and simple not a greyhound /micro ferret. if there are such a thing then ive seen hundreds of them in my day so they not rare at all.

  22. I find that running a rescue that alot of folk frown on albinos was just wondering what colour you like and why you like it.
  23. Was just wondering at what age do you folk decide your ferret is too old too work and put it into retirement.
  24. Food doesn't change genetics matey, if you've a genetically small kit, and you over feed it, you'd get a short fat ferret. i think it's a bit of a sweeping statement '1. runt of a litter 2. litter not being fed properly due to lack of knowledge or neglect. 3. controlled feeding programe to limit there size.' ferrets vary as much as people in shape and size mate, but if you fed a midget kid steak and caviar it still aint gonna reach 6ft. Atb LD13 you can have the two biggest ferrets being bred but if you dont feed the jill properly during pregnancy and when feeding the kits the
