Got to say i know a lot of folk who have pet ferrets and there courts are some of the biggest i have seen, (will try dig out a picture of one) yes ferrets are great at working but lets remember there are also alot of ferrets out there that dont go to working homes, but this dont mean they are stuck in a cage most of there life as some folk that have pet ferrets spend alot of time with them, and have also seen and know folk who have working ferrets that just stay in a small hutch, so as far as i am concerned pet or workers we have to take the best of both worlds, and hope they live a long happy

what age are the kits that you going to collect? there less than a week old as far as i no wullie then that makes it =vert risky, if there is nothing you can do but take them at this age i would say remove the jill and put her out off sight whille you remove herkits and most of the bedding so she knows the smell then keeep a close eye on her when you put them into there new housing but id recon you will loose between 50-75 of the kits. so would i just be better off hand rearing the kits i would;nt like to lose any of them but the guy wants rid the now! thanks a lot wullie

ive never found flicking noses etc works.. some people think this way works but it dont take a step back and think what woud you do if you were a ferret that got hit on the nose all the time, you would bite back, handle it daily and give it ferretone and within a couple of wks it will be a soft lump but will still be a worker if you want, doing this will let it see your hands as somthng to look forward too, but remember kits are after all only babies and must be trained just like a kitten or a puppy.

The first two are def going to be polecat colourd and anybody who has some good breeding behind them will agree the 3rd pic dont do much justise could be light sandy or silver, but thats the joys of breeding you never know what you will get.

Was talking to a woman today who was at her vet wanting to get her jill spayed but her vet told her the only options are at the moment is the jill jab or the hormone replacement chip as will no longer spey due to risk of adrenal disease, the implant only lasts between 18mths and 2 yrs and costs almost the same as getting the ferret spayed , i think the vet just trying to make money. if this is going to be the way forward for vets then just think in a couple of yrs there going to be alot more unwanted kits due to folk breeding just to take jill out of season. told her that she can use my vas

Ok cheers mate. Looks like I'll have to borrow one again.... If you use him to soon, there is more chance of his tubes re-joining a good vet will say 10 weeks and i always say 12 wks and then just try her out on one jill and wait and make sure the op was ok, as for the tubes re-joining, this should never happen if your vet knows what he is doing and either removes enough of the tube then fuse the ends or tie them off.

as for the morons who breed angoras...remember that dull individual who was on here once trying to peddle them for an arm and a leg? was the woman fromdurum by any chance?. i have an angora and only kept it as my young lad liked it so much, it came into me after a girl had drove to durum to pick it and its foster mum up and paid £200 for it then 7 wks later she moves house unable to take with her.

im not an expert kay but run my findings on running a rescue and not just having to look after the same couple of ferrets for years, but you are right in what you say if his jill is entire and i must have missed this part then there is less chance of being adrenal as it tends to effect spayed jills more but has been known in entire jills, so i put my hands up if i made an error but come on with the symtoms given and the hair loss from the flank you have to agree this is classic signs of adrenal. Well Jojo you looked at the photo and said, looks like.By the way sweetie I've had enough fer
