  1. SMS, why did you not intervene. A coon is not going to kill your dog by biting it before you get to it above ground collar or not. If you learn traditional locating you can skip the collar, but when freecasting its hard to locate them when they are mute. If the dog is smart as you say it will change its style or its head will stay chewed to pieces. Dont loose a good dog to rookie mistakes. JMO
  2. Sorry, Bills sire & dam. Also seen the name of CoalPools Bills Sire as Glenstaff Bill the Drill, and dam as Beverly's Girl, but you know how papers go!!!!!
  3. I saw on Game Dog Forum a guy that claimed to have bred McCoys Grip going by the name (Jack The Lad). I also seen grips sires name was Snatcher, dams was Snake, maybe this helps.
  4. Not a single hunter I know breeds working terriers without knowing the parents and background of their dogs. Most of the HUNTERS using them keep excellent records and are very honest. It would make no sense for true hunters to lie about the breeding of his terriers since no money changes hands, Only peddlers or muppets fake peds.
  5. Pits x patts are not for everyone or the end all. But if everyone across the pond had such great earthdogs then why have all of you tried the crosses? No matter what, everyone is looking for the best they can acquire and hunt with. Jags, jacks, patts were all made because everyones needs are different.
  6. I think some are overlooking the fact that some of the mixes are not going to be used for traditional earth work, I don't want to speak on behalf of Main or any other in the US but if you use a pure Patterdale for coyotes or large game you will be sending your dog to its death. I have noticed that the crosses that I have start as early as any, It nice to have a dog you can rat with, then take and catch a feral hog. Most of the guys in the states want mute dogs and game bred pits are still plentiful, its a matter of getting a line of smaller pits and well bred patts. Selection, hunt, ,culling,
  7. Thanks for the input Kye, I have some of that first breeding blood, but mine are working nice. Showmespeed I believe Mr. Cooney was talking about the photo posted by Scooter3006.
  8. Kye was the pit/pat crosses from Main. Showmespeed that is some nice pit blood ,whats the Patt side? I have noticed better hunting attitude from the 3/4 crosses as well.
  9. Nothing wrong with a cross Clancy if done correctly, Most use them to improve the bite and grit. I have had several crosses and have been using them with no problems , if your hunting nothing but ground hogs you might not need them tho. I will stack mine against anyones.
  10. I drove over 1000 miles & 15 1/2 hours to get a Griz bred dog for nothing. But if anyone will match the price ,I will drive to get one from them also. Griz owed me nothing, but he has my respect, even if he has drunk bred curs. Lol. I believe most terriermen respect the dogs but not the practices of over priced breeding. If your prices were fair people would be hunting closer, sorry if I am blunt. David
  11. I would take Griz's word, He has been 100% honest with me. As far as selling, its BS to sell a dog at that rate. If you had a great dog, it would not be for sale & a good dogman would want to get others started so he could have stock being tested even if it means a few lost dogs. I do not know a lot of these guys, but if a dog is not marked he could not have been hunted to hard. As far as comparing a dog to a prostitute, I would think that a dog whore would start out overcharging also.
