  1. i was there at the time when he said this, i cracked up laughing for weeks, ray on toast yumm yumm and bear grilled, lol sorry peeps but why have the apprentice when you can have the master, if it not lofty then its lars.
  2. i dont want to put you off i want to inform thats all as i said its a £100 per day you are looking at to raise, £30 belongs to the tax and stamp man the rest is yours and you can have the weekend off but here lets talk and walk the walk at this time of year we were busy selling instant veggie gardens, a seed tray i made from pallet wood, 1' by 2' by 2" in it was a row of leek seedlings, onion seedlings, cabbages, spring greens and so on a whole tray full of rows, we used to sell them for a tenna and make £4 profit on them, but we were planting them in december/jan in time for the
  3. started watching it at the beginning and it was brilliant, then they sided with the toffs and so on so it became to unrealistic to come any where near me and reality so i stopped watched a few years back now to me they dont have any thing in common with me at all
  4. as far as i am aware it is not legal to do so, its shotguns and FAC only for geese . as air rifle shooters we can do most vermin and fowl, up to crows and the like, but even at crows unless its a perfect head shoot your not really going to stand much of a chance of a clean dispatch.
  5. i shall look into this many many thanks all. at the moment i still working on frightening a few clays, but most seam to laugh as they fly past and the local clay ground have a net at the other end to catch the clays
  6. well as someone that has seriously looked into and trialed quite a few ideas and standards i know a lot about this sort of thing so heres a few ideas for you first up there is no real one thing you can do to make a reasonable living off the land . i am thinking here £25k which is poor £40kk is well off what you have to do is split it down to lower amounts the problem here is you have to be come a jack of all trades and also each job/role/occupation so bee keeper is one of mine, yes £200 per hive, set up with kit, £400 basic to £2k for ten hive logs from the hedge l
  7. personally as a newbie with no permissions no country side and no contacts a days shooting for £40 to me is a great value day i would happily pay that for 8 hours shooting i would also pay that to go out rabbiting with long nets too, as long as i get some of the bounty. I would be willing to go air rifle hunting or shotgun shooting for bunnies and pay £40 just because you have loads of people asking you, please remember that most of us dont. to enjoy our sports some of us do have to put our hand in our pockets and pay for it ok so there was a issue with it being legit or legal
  8. thanks for the tip. just getting started and wanted a few lessons to get going with. leamington is a bit far, could do with some thing the far side of birmingham to suit me
  9. i am looking for a clay shooting instructor in the Birmingham area, can anyone suggest someone. also what do they charge?
  10. several good pointers here, first up the reason why i have not tried to comunicate with th e person involved is that he is ethnic and refuses to obey uk rules and standards as in his country he does so and so, been there tried that many times before, basically a right arrogent twit at the best of times. managed to get some feed back from the council today , one of the birds is a sparrow hawk and according to them, he does not need a licence to own the bird only of he wants to hunt with it and they have advised him to build a bigger cage for it and thats as far as they are going with
  11. the guy accross the garden from me has had over the last few years lots of differing animals, all pretty poorly housed and looked after. a few days ago whilst being extreamly nosey i realised what the latest animals are that are stuffed in small pokey cages. i have listed several names as i am not a twitcher and i cant tell a crow from a parrot a GYR or a Peregrine falcon the other bird is either a Sparrowhawk an Elonaras falcon so i called the filth at the rspca and of course there not intrested in any way shape or form as there is no tv cameras to play up to. i called
  12. thanks for the tips, the gundealer site was a brilliant if very well hiden jem, does need updating though
  13. i am looking for a gun shop with a decent range of used weapons for sale. rather than the usual 4 avalible at the local shop. i did stop off some where once, i think it was near swindon i think, many years ago, any way that place had a great big room with all the guns on stands you could walk around and look at any suggestions anyone, prefer england and wales, no cornwall or norfolk or kent and defo no scotland, keep within say 150 mile of the midlands, please as for what i am looking for, its a shotty under the £400 max mark,
  14. as a note to any other midland readers of this post in the future, TIPTON is the cray fish capital of the midlands, they have come from the local canal ponds and small lakes and are now just getting there pincers into the canals, you dont need traps just use a standard landing net and scoop them out
  15. drop nets dont need an hour they need checking every 10 mins, other wise the crays walk in and off again. as for permission for the canals, i have to apply and get tags and traps and then i can apply to the envioment officer at the bw for permission, so even if i do get tags i am still not on a permission yet, thats why i am doing the paper work through the winter as the bw is ridiculously slow in dealing with any thing and its also the reason why i want to find other areas to trap such as the council ponds and lakes, "no writen permission is ever given by sandwell vally council BUT anyone
  16. i am down in smethwick and will travel a fair way for the bunnie helper that i am, i have no kit what so ever just a lot of enthusiasim to help catch bunnies and have a great day out
  17. i am going to trap the main birmingham canal in the middle of the second city as well as four other park ponds and still waters, once i started looking on google maps i was finding waters every where. find the pdf form for your tags on the envio site and down load it, if you dont have a pdf twiddler do as i do print one out , i have signed up for three traps for the stills and ten for the canal and will then try each water to find them, to save on stamps you can scan and return the forms electronicly and they dont cost you any thing to deal with
  18. i was planning on tagging ten traps and then from the nearest point to home spread them out every 5 metres and then do an overnight stay for each trap, and work along till i find some. everyone says they dig into the banks so i would try closer in rather than further out, i cant do further out due to the canal boats ripping into the trap mooring lines or fouling the wire mesh nets
  19. i cant seem to get a pm to go to you is your inbox full try sending one to me instead i would love to know ehere you are thinking of
  20. cheers lads, many many thanks for the replies i was wondering if i was the only one thinking or doing this. the ideas were to get some ideas where to try over the next couple of months get some tags sorted etc ready for march april time and then the summer do you guys prefere open drop nets or round tube mesh cages
  21. Right the other threads on the cray fishing set ups has whetted the old appitite to have a go so, does anyone in the midlands, Birmingham, Black country, Smethwick. Know of any area that they fish that is plagued with cray fish. Canals, ponds, rivers any way realy. once i find some where that has cray fish and then i can see the owners and get some permission and then some tags and nets made up. so can any one tell me where they get cray fished when bottom fishing please, pete

Trying to find some hope of some sport. could I suggest that since no one does it anywhere properly that the boards could be split into a smaller sections, even if it was so say. Wales, north/south, Scotland, north and south. England, north, east, south, west. its just i have had to go through 15 pages on each board one shooting and one country sports and the majority of them are not area marked and it might help to get people better conected thats all.
