Hi making your own is quite easy and you can practice on some crap leather as a play about. With length its up to you but I have see a Harris with long jesses stuck up where the jesses had whipped around a thin branch. Not sure what experience you have but I found playing with and knowing kit is always a good thing. All the best Lee C

Vet mate and antibiotics mine had similar with a thorn prick got it out but it swelled up, heat and flappy feeling is probably and infecting. A quick injection and course of antibiotics put in food and the swelling went down on vlads foot. I Put a bit of iodine on it at first and then later wound powder on as well but that was because had a tiny open wound where thorn end was squeezed out. But would recommend the antibiotics to help reduce swelling and heat. Bumble foot I would expect to see on bottom of the foot but with good perches varying in size and Astro turn covering would not exspe

Flew a mates male Harris I called him Little Man 1.71/2 and he took two hares for me in two days on a trip to lincon. This bird was a legend my mate worked the landfill as control and this bird flew every day, was fit as and took all everything he saw including Masive gulls. He had me a couple of times after taking rabbits off him he would fly by and give me a clout and then back to business. He sold him after losing his contract and the guy phoned him to say he never told him how good he was on the lamp. He had never been lamped he was just one of those bird who knew no fear and new that help

On top of that...if you fancy trying a nice piece of literature that's truly inspiring, then look up The Rites of Autumn by Dan O'Brien......it won't teach you anything about Harris hawks, but will illustrate what one man, a hawk & pure passion can achieve....Atb Yep I loved this as a book to read ATB Lee

Just lost my singing bird. Chirpy was a lovely, handsome little chap who would not shut up. I went to let the dog out and as I looked up I heard a small chirp from his cage he was at the bottom I grabbed him as he let out his last breath and he was gone. Things will be to quiet around here now. I can hear myself thinking !! Gutted !! Love these cracking RIP little fella

Yep I have fm 100 on 173. With RT 173 tail mount. This is on Harris ! Great set up It's might be worth seeing what people in your area use, so if the bird does go missing other can have a scan in the area to help out. I went for 173 as most of the people I know use this. ATB Lee c

He's fine, he has flow with about twenty + different birds, they all have their pecking order but have found that harris are generally great with each other. ATB Lee

Hi all anyone with a lot of experience looking for a bird to borrow for the flying season. My Harris this year is becoming just a pet and it is frustrating for me and no good for him. He is a cracking bird but due to young child who is not big enough to carry all my hawking gear and wife working weekends, he is not getting flown and I hate to admit it. I was wondering if there is a competent, experienced person in east Northamptonshire that has a good set up, maybe just lost an older bird due to age or of the likes. This is a hard thing to do but if their is some one who wants the loan of a cr

Yep agree find a good fence post or make one for training area. Can be a pain to lug about but see if the land owner will let you leave it somewhere. You won't mind her lying from the fence post but as above when flown from the bow she my start to try every time she sees you so when tethered in garden she we bait and bait towards you all the time. Also it would probable frustrat her trying to fly from the bow when tethered and frustration can lead to problems. Always analyse what you do and try to see what advantages it may bring. Then try to see the bigger picture and look at what problems it
