  5. if it works out its line breeding,if it doesnt its inbreeding.
  6. are todays kc and VERY expensive whippets superior to their bwra counterparts?
  7. had my bitch 9years now, bred by a fella from carlisle named sissons.got her at 6mths off a lad just outside of edinburgh.going off my experience with her i experienced nothing of the 'weardie beardie' myths.pleasure to train, perhaps not as straightforward as border crosses i,d trained.lighter racier build than 1st cross borders and a yard quicker.feet have seen better days now but were pretty tough and lasted well on some real rough ground.23tts good coat as you'd expect, seen better noses being honest, all in all a real good rabbit bitch day and night,as for bigger stuff on the rare occasion we
  8. last 4 litters oflurcher to lurcher ive seen were as level as you like, variation in coat was about the only difference.just a matter of common sense, keeping similar breeds in both parents, better chance of both parents being workers as well.once whippet blood enters the equation and you aint after little 'uns size an substance can be difficult to predict.like owt else i guess,'you pays ya money ya takes ya choice'.as long as they both workers thats half the battle.stick in.
  9. according Blacks veterinary dictionary the percentage of adult dogs(3yrs+) contracting parvo or distemper is so minimal as to render any vaccination beyond this point as totally fruitless.
  10. appreciate all the replies,a lot more positive than i had anticipated to be honest.not sure i agree with stroller,i've seen a number of german pointers that dwarfed labs, especially field trial types.the pointer crosses i've witnessed were'nt marvellous on rabbits but mustard on bigger gear.all heavy but with HUGEjaws.each to their own though.guess i just need to find a lab x stud dog or a litter of pups now,i hasten to add not for me.
  11. is she a first cross?seems a little odd they not used in lurcher breedin more often i think.how do you rate her against other types you've kept?dave harcombe said he saw one years ago was mustard on foxes, all individuals though ain't they?
  12. anyone had owt to do with labxghounds,1st or 2nd cross?get a few sketchy tales but nowt first hand.would appreciate any experiences good or bad. . .
