  1. Was a cur at some point what pitbull enthuiasts referred to as dog with no gameness did some of them refer to am sraffs as cur dogs , Im not judging just asking a question liam-Thats correct...a non game bulldog is called a cur. Bulldog men also call any non bulldog a cur, regardless of breeding. I have always believed the term was carried over to many of these type dogs. Many bulldogs, and bulldogx were/are used as "meat dogs" all over the country, and even many of todays "linebred/papered" curs show a strong bulldog influence, IMO. Take care.
  2. You are on point today son! ...You have seen things the same way I have... Take care.
  3. fat man-I think Mosby is full of shit to...BUT, agree with what he said on otters and terriers... If a terrier goes headfirst into an otter in a stop end, its going to get ate up. The otter will bolt given the chance, but forced to fight it will make most terriers sing, and will leave many that dont laying. At least thats what happens here in the US... Keeping one bayed up with a terrier is not much more impressive than doing it with a beagle, IMO. Take care.
  4. Neil-Cmon man...a failed fox dog made a badger dog? There is no way, and it dont matter if they failed on fox here or there, I dont believe they would make a badger dog either place. I think as Stuntman said, the odds that folks here were really digging badger enough to call it a "badger dog" is very unlikely. Almost all the US folks that talk of badger have never actually layed eyes on one, and fewer still have ever had a dog on one, let alone a proper dig to one, IMO. I probably caught more badger than 99% of US terriermen, and I wouldnt call myself a terrierman, or say I ever owned a badger
  5. Raymond-I didnt think you asked me a question, but rather made a rhetorical statement. If the question was what can an APBT do that a Glenn cant, then my answer would be, beat him in a race, and go thru a cockleburr patch and not have any tangled in his coat... Seriously though, I suspect the odds of finding a solid APBT would be far easier than finding a Glenn of equal caliber here in the US. I also suspect that if used as a draw dog on badger/coyote here the APBT would prove to have more sand than a Glenn if pushed hard. We have plenty of bulldogs here that go 30lbs, so your not even guaran
  6. wet-Nobody said the APBT didnt have Irish/English roots...but you left out the part about how they were improved on here to such an extent that even in Ireland/UK they prefer them to the old stuff. What is it you suppose a Glenn could do that an APBT couldnt... It aint braggin if you can do it... Take care. You could very easily turn it around and say what would your apt do that my Glenn wouldnt. I could stripp my Glenn downt to Its each to there own. Im into a smaller dog doing the job. I could get a bigger dog that would pull a house down. Now whats the point in that. Ive had eng
  7. Well spoken Main!.... oops i mean Doc! LOL Word on the street is that there has been some sharin of trouser trout between the two of ya... I dont believe it though. Steady-You know I would never move in on your man crush... Im just sayin for folks like hastings and stuntman that want to use a dog like that, why take a chance on a dog that even in its homeland you cant hardly find a real worker, when you have dogs here already that you can get for free that will do anything the expensive import would do? Take care.

  9. Why bother with a Glenn, when we already have APBT that are all they are, and more? Take care.
  10. I send Hammer, Stunt, and HH down a road that cuts thru some plow, towards some big compost piles. Its almost a sure thing to have coyotes. CC and I head in my rig to a parellel road about a mile to the west. We spot one ahead of them and let them know. As they are headed towards it, another gets up and crosses behind them... We watch them drop the dogs and see Hammers dogs gather it up. They drop off Stunt to gather them up, and turn around to look for the one that crossed behind them. The next thing we hear is we see him up ahead...no theres two...aww shit theres three, and one is headed
  11. tb25-Usually run 2-4 dogs at a time, depending on age, expierience etc... iceman-A course can be anywhere from 200 yards to 2 miles. Most of ours are in the 600-800 yard range (dogs on the ground). Alot depends on the ground. In flatter ground with less cover we give them way more law...in rough ground or high cover less. As soon as the dogs see the coyote and "call for it" I will stop and drop. I dont like to run the coyote with the truck if possible. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. We will drop from roads, or spread out and cruise thru the fields. The fields are so big the trucks ca
  12. Had the Capps crew and Stuntman over again for another afternoon hunt. We managed to corral 5 and each truck took a beatin from some good coyotes and some bad ground... We meet up and mix sets, Stunt jumps in with my son and I and The Capps boys and Mrs. CC in the other truck. Im hauling Hoss, Lazer and Capps Blue. They have Speedy, Bull, T and Stunts cur on one side, Brownie, Blackie, Ace and Stunts lurcher Grill on the other. The first race Hammer jumps them over the highway fence and they are headed our way. The coyote loses them in some washes, but ends up coming out ahead of us on a d
  13. Its just a throw back to the Independance days...when we were shooting at Red coats...and killin the shit out of em to... Take care.
  14. How'd they catch it ? Was it denned ? No staffy alive is going to run down a coyote. Period the video i was talking about the ambull was fighting with the coyotes in a field, as for the staff i didnt say "run down" Ahhh...so,say, having one as a kill dog ,per se . I've heard of the old timers using a kill dog when they ran pure greyhounds. It was usually a pit, ambull, or airedale if memory serves. In fact, not long after I brough my two Airedales home I was outside tending my garden while my neighbor was outside, my 'Dales were dicking off by his fence. He went "Holy shit ! Those
  15. I suppose that depends if you got it for fox or not aye uphillgardener driller killer-Not for ME it dont, but if thats the excuse you use for keeping cowards, so be it... If I was a gardener I would look you up, as I could use those no fox killin dogs of yours for fertalizer... Take care.
  16. I agree 100%. what a half baked thing to say when there is a ban on hunting fox with dogs on this side of plannet earth,,another ott statement from septic tanks,we only hunt rats nd rabbits here, but you can always use our blood lines buddys cos you know our history on dogs gose way back before you was american hickymick-Its the way I feel...if you dont, then just keep on with lurchers that cant handle fox... Even if I only hunted rats, I would still expect MY lurchers to kill foxes solo. Your bloodlines are so far removed from our dogs nowadays it dont matter any, and if f
  17. Any lurcher that cant kill a fox single handed is a shit eater and should be culled... Take care.
  18. Im not sure if this is just a wind up, or if people are really as retarded as it seems. Yes, its possible for a lurcher to catch an occasional coyote, and some will even be able to kill one, but FAR more wont catch or kill one. A coyote is not killing and dragging 70lb dogs over fences. They can and will hamstring many 70lb dogs, but they are not the big bad wolf. A wolf will treat a 70lb dog like a rabbit. If folks believe a coyote is just a big fox they have never encountered one, and probably still believe in the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus... Take care.
  19. You dont run on frozen ground/snow? Take care.
  20. LL-The big dogs are staghounds [uSA} roughly 27"ats 80lbs bred for coyotes. Terrier is a lakie hello stuntman you said the foxes were harder to catch than a coyote i wonder how they compare to our foxes These fox are more similar in running style to a jackrabbit (hare) than a coyote. They cant out run a stag, but they can out turn one. Sometimes the stags will just roll them up like they were tied to a post, but some will duck and dive and have a stag missing and flailing around like they were tryin to rope the wind. The fox is all about the race/catch, as once caught they arent muc
  21. I had Jose over for a visit and a hunt this weekend, and we had one really nice race. We are cruisin down a two lane highway when Jose spots one on a ridge about 100 off the road. I plow off the road and its a rough ride. The coyote starts loping up the hill looking at the two idiots in the truck. There is a barbwire fence about 30 yards from the road so I pull up next to it and drop the gate. Thats all the coyote can stand and its gettin out of dodge. "Hoss, Lazer and Cracker" go over the fence. They see the coyote just as it crests the hill at top speed. I climb up top the truck to try to se
  22. LOL Im a damn computer whiz now. I had the horse out for a nice ride across the desert yesterday...just chompin at the bit for my first race. It was cool enough I should have went, but wanted to at least wait til the first of Sep. If its cool enough Frriday Im gonna go lookin!!!
