  1. I agree on principle skycat, and it does go without saying that it's downright daft to try and run a dog hard without it being fit and well. You've provided some handy advice that may make some people think twice before taking a new dog straight out. If people have taken it as granted that the dog is 100% fit and healthy then there are some good tips here. I do sincerely hope you get to the bottom of this, I have seen some 100% fit and healthy race dogs keel over at the end of a sprint it's not a nice thing to witness, touch wood ( ) I have been lucky thus far. Paws crossed for
  2. Glucose helps with the uptake of electrolytes into the dogs system, you can either use a powder glucose to add in the drink alongside electrolytes or you can buy some set honey and give the dog a lump of it after a hard run or periodically throughout the session. I prefer to use the honey with my racers. A good bit of kit to have is a 20ml syringe, just for those occasions where the dog refuses to take a drink. 13. Hi littlefish, it is a congenital defect (that is to say not genetic). She had a glaucoma and was blind in the eye by the time she was about 8 weeks old. As the pupil had blown the eye became swollen and filled with fluid , she had it removed when she was 6mths old. Really she hadn't known a lot of difference but her depth perception was a little off. She used to run into the washing line post or the door frames in the house with her shoulder on that side. Luckily being a pup she loved to play games so we played catch with big toys at first so she could see them and gauge the
