    i fished butterly res this summer and they had a big problem with the weed, for some reason they couldnt use herbicide...think it might have been because it leased from british waterways...anyway i was chatting to the baliff and he said they were trying P.V.A parcels of blue food coulouring "to stop the sunlight getting to the weed". it did seem to be knocking the weed back in early summer but havent been back since...so i am not sure of the out come..i could probably find a phone number for the club thats runs it..so you could maybe chat with someone who knows more about it than me..

    I feed my dogs on Redmills racer...the dogs seem to love and i think they look well on it.

    hi all in the last week or so my 8 month old pup has come out in spots on her chest and belly area, none anywere else no scratching, but looks saw and have seen 3 with big yellow heads... Could it be nettle stings? i also have a lurcher who is fine. all the best Paul

    hi mate...she is bred from working cocker stock..have seen the bitch she is from..but not the sire...she was a returned pup...gun shy i was told, she has just been kept on a farm and not taken out for a couple of months..so i have been concentrating on getting her fit...when i first got her after being out for 20 mins she seemed to me to become a little clumsy on her feet ...now she cant get enough and runs rings rond me and the lurcher when we go out...how do you steady a spaniel?

    thanks for all the advice, i normally get out with the dogs about once a day and see quite a few rabbits..the lucher goes into cover the spaniel seems to be holding back a little ...but she is young ...think the best thing to start with would perhaps take them both out but keep the lurcher close on lead ? this may be wrong but i am willing to listen to advice regards paul

    hi mate, have bought the book ...but not sure how to put what he says into practice to flush to lurcher...it may be me being dense....

    hi all might be the wrong section....but read the gundog section and bought a couple of books..but they dont seem to give the advice i want... i have just got a cocker pup 8 months old and want to train the pup to flush to my lurcher..any ideas were i start...or what books to get regards Paul

    Thanks for all the positive responses....to be fair it not something that i had noticed, somebody pointed it out to me...then last saturday i went to thorsby game fair and had a look at the lurcher show ,saw what he ment...his back feet are almost cat like but his front paws are a little splayed....i have kept bull terriors most of my life and not really looked at feet...he is my first lurcher and i think he is fantastic...but again i am biased he is my dog... :D thanks again Paul

    Cheers watchman...have heard the same but also been told to trot him on the road...or to get him trotting behind a push bike ....on a hard surface...just not sure for how long or how far...if that makes sense :icon_eek:

    hi all, hope this is in the right section !? i have an 15 month old lurcher (saluki x GH X whipet x GH) i take him out everyday for ball work, and work him 2/3 times a week ...But his front paws seem a little flat footed any ideas how to remedy this ? Cheers paul
