    Yep, dippers are another bird I love to see. Quite fortunate where I live, as it's very close to the river Taff, which has got MUCH cleaner over the last 30 years, and has seen a pretty dramatic return of wildlife, including quite a lot of dippers kingfishers, wagtails and ducks of all sorts.

    Just to add, to some of the replies on the last couple of pages, re hunter gathering etc. I think that as a person gets older, has more life experiences etc, that we become more comfortable with being wildlife observers, rather than just hunters. For me, anyway. Perhaps I'm just getting softer as age creeps up on me? Lol.

    I love the fact nuthatches can climb both up and down tree trunks. Beautiful little birds.

    Now, read what I said. I never said a dog doesn't take longer than 3 minutes to kill a hare. Obviously, many dogs do take longer than 3 minutes to kill a hare. Gooey's and Obviously yours, since you're spouting about it so much, but MANY dogs kill, or used to kill, to be politically correct, hares in far less than 3 minutes. Maybe, like G L offered Gooey a few days ago, put some whippet or a bit of extra speed into your slow bloodlines.

    Pasture and arable. Yes, you're correct, there certainly are differences, but even on arable my dog was never taken 3, 4, 5, let alone 6 minutes.

You seriously think that's slop or heavy going?! Faaackin el!! Ran my old dog against hares on far worse/heavy/slop, and he took nothing like 4,5 or 6 minutes to catch his hares. And that particular slip of your bitch on that hare was no more than 50-55 yards!! Now come on, Gooey, I expected better of you, now that you're a 'you tuber' SCAMMER!!
