  1. I have a Schmidt bender scope if you want to do a swap with a wee drop cash my way.
  2. The 1st picture was the only one to be shot with a 22/250, the others were shot with a 223, would be great if we could tell how far out the Foxes were going to be before we left home, we could then take the correct calibre, as i have been shooting foxes for over 30 years i think i have earned the right, to say IN MY OPINION the best fox calibre is 22/250, for any distance between 50 and 400 yards.
  3. nice one jim, ask yourself its your gun "YA BIG TART" forgot to say its a Tikka T3 light in 223 with a Schmidt & Bender 1.5 - 6 x42 with 30mm tube, for any others who want to know the set up.

( forgot to say dave already had taken a shot at this Fox 2 minutes before and missed him from about 60 yds) SORRY Dave1372 had to let the guys know. 2nd picture this fox was shot by another shooting friend at a distance of 192 yards, this was ru
  5. Good suggestion that, it's worth a punt. I've only heard T8 and an ASE, the T8 was quieter. Still pissing myself about rust with my T8 but so far so good Jackson rifles will give him any new moderator he wants against the old T8, 40% discount, doesnt need to be a T8... I spoke to them yesterday regarding mine, lifetime of 40% discount, as long as you send them the old one back along with a copy of your firearms cert. to show you have a fullbore on the ticket

  7. Calling in Foxes using your own voice/squeek is very easy from 5 fields away, not because i am good at it, the very opposite, the fox is very good at hearing, as most nocturnal animals are. cheers jimmy
  8. Called in this Vixen from 5 fields away (it was hard work) getting her to come in, but i managed in the end this was shot with a Tikka 223 with a S&B 1.5-6x42 on top, shot at a ranged distance of 185 yards on the top of the head. This was one of the better shots i have witnessed as my mate who was shooting stated that he had placed the shot on the head, and when we retrieved the fox, thats where he had hit it
  9. should have taken the furthest away out 1st, good chance the 2nd would have ran towards you as the noise was behind him.....forgot to mention this, cant let you into all my little tips...LOL...

  15. Less of the elderly.. wise cracks.. patience is a virtue yong man, you learn this with age, one day you will learn to wait for the fox to come to you, and not try and shoot as soon as you see the eyes. HE IS STILL LEARNING....its hard work
  16. It was big Dave, its the one i shot at and missed when we were out last week,up at Toms had a shot twice at it with Jim, but it had to be my brother who shot it dead @ 40 yards though, at least i can say i had an idea of where to move to, so we could head it off, suppose i was familiar with its habits after 3 failed attempts to nail it. Free Sunday Night if your up for a wander. Babysitting Sunday ! Up for Monday night though? Monday Night is fine for me Dave, catch up later. cheers jimmy

  19. Well lads was out for about 4 hours last night and not much in the way of Foxes, the one we got, has been shot at 3 times if my memory sreves me well.its always to far away for a good shot always in excess of 400yarsd, well last night same thing spotted it again in its usual patchabout 800 yards away in a boggy part of a moor on one of the farms i shoot, tried calling but NO CHANCE,so i decided to try and head it off , and moved the truck to where i thought it might be heading, 5 mins later we are in position a couple of little squeeks and it popped its head up 30 yards away , it was trying to
  20. Any Foxes shot will be uploaded tomorrow, and i feel like giving a write up again, hopefully this time it will be kept nice and clean, and only comments from intrested parties will be entered I WOULDNT HOLD MY BREATH THO.............. 21. It was shot by someone I took lamping last night, it was shot with a .243 (I edited my post when I realised I said it 'wasn't'), I think he said he was using 90gr v-max. I have seen plenty of shot foxes and I am not sure how the bullet hit but that is the biggest exit wound I have ever seen ! Its not an exit wound.... the Fox must ave been looking straight on and the bullet has gone down the side of the rib cage and fragmented hence the damage. If it had been an exit wound , you wouldnt been able to see the rib cage so easily. I will keep you and Murray right
  22. Original post has now been updated, have a look guys. cheers Jimmy p.s. was using my mates 223, so not used to distances for long range shots with this rifle, all will be revealed when you read the updated post. 300yards my 243 would have nailed it !!!
  23. Thanks HW have another 2 in the pipeline, need to wait a couple of weeks though until this and that speak to each other , both are big moorland areas with woods on them. as before dont want to say to much about any until confirmed and in writting,
