  3. read topic from the start--- replying to overopinionated people-- yes answer youre feelings have been hurt and youre having a winge correct? dont be stupid boy ill catch more game in a month than you will in a season. and what about youre post whippet greyhounds being a pointless cross is that not overopinionated ha ha, please feel free to dig yourself out of that one a proper fool you are!! if you read that i asked a question go back and read it fully if you got the time in your busy hunting schedul!! i never slated it others may have i was asking why people used the cross if they
  4. go and read from the start what this was about!!! like has been said people who come on here looking for info end up with!!!ars*oles!!! like a couple of you who have recently commented slagging them off!!! if we base this on a couple of comments regarding time spent whinging on here and time bieng a member of the forum!! you will realise you have just said that i have had to much time on my hands hunting while you in your own admittance have to much time on your hands typing about hunting!! why dont you get out there and pratice what you preach and leave off slagging people off!!!
  5. yet again we have another rude know all know nothing!!!! how would you from the other end of a computer screen have any idea about how much im out and about with the dog!!! your clearly one of theses people i have spoken about who cant find any other way of voicing there opinion without bieng rude!! im actully bieng pleasant in the way im speaking and you and a couple others are calling me a whinger and have no bollox!!! its very big of you to get brave and cocky on the other end of a computer but dont take my pleasentness for weakness!!
  6. The day i meet the man who has nothing to learn in the dog game i'll hang up my lamp and put away my wellies!!! im sorry fella but this is dogs were talking about noone is GOD!! even so i know there are some fantastic dog men out there!!! but that gives nobody the right to be rude and a slate others ways of thinking!!! in fact a good dog man i dont think would bother bieng rude just so they can get there oppinion across!! they know what they know and if people choose not to listen to them its not there loss!!! try to stay on topic aswell!!!
  7. its not a case of me or anyone else feeling bullied!!! its the over oppinonated b*llocks i have to read during threads slating and being rude to people for voicing an oppinion and generally bieng a know all know nothing *unt i cant stand!! theres no need for it!!! i came on here to talk to like minded people who can have decent discussions about running dogs!! not listen to bol*ocks spoken by fools!!! all the best
  8. i am used to the way people are in the running dog world i know to take it with a pinch of salt!! its more those who are thinking of getting invovlved or who are new to the sport i feel sorry for!!! they look in at us lot and see breeds wich may infact suit them slated and steer clear of them only to realise later on after frustrating nights they have been running an unsuitable dog!! and that the cross they first saw as a no go due to the slagging off they got when they first looked into it was in fact the one for them!! i was one of these when i was a kid!! i was told too keep away from coll
  9. Yes, but your wrong lol!! i new somone would take the piss when i mentioned my preferances!!
  10. since joining this forum i have noticed that there are a number of people on here who regularly put down and tear into people who dont see eye to eye with them!!!! i have my own set of values i stand by when i hunt!! and i have my own set of traits i look for in a working dog!! my cup of tea is not going to be everyone elses cup of tea!! thats the reason we have these topics so people can put there point across but its the slating and rudeness people are doing if an opinion is not agreed upon that im more p*ssed off with!! i run dogs off the slip they are taught that from day one!! i also li

  12. cracking pics mate!! how are the dogs crossed??? cheers
  13. go to page three or four on the forum theres been a massive discussion on them. atb lol if you were thinking about getting a dog how handy is that theres been a big discussion on them yeah like he said flick through the forum pages its in there somewere|!! all the best
  14. do you think turning ability can be compesnated for by sheer power and stride!!! in effect making no differance atall??? SORRY ITS FRIDAY IVE BIN DRINKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I'd change that, and say small Lurchers 'should' always turn better but the truth is different! I've seen enough large dogs turn the arse out of smaller ones. Yep, it should be the other way round but as it's been said, there are many exceptions to the rule! a very fair comment theres allways gunna be exceptions!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for your input!!
  16. No it aint true its a old falisy imo,,, the dog which can turn the best is the dog which adjusts its running style to its quarry,, holds off at the wright time, and puts on at the wright time,,,, dogs that rush in full tilt will always overshoot there quarry and loose ground on the turns,, greys,, whippets too,,, best dogs are those with gears and those that use those gears,, salukis are the most agile best turning Dog in the world they can fold on themselves in a flash,, and a great deal has to do with the fact that they use gears,, anticipate and think ahead,, there is no hard and fast rule
  17. i dont think your far off the mark there!!! my boys 26" powerfully built in the chest and back leg area but slim with it and he can turn on a penny kind of the reason i started this thread!! when he turns with a rabbit it takes 1 leap and hes back on its arse again!! not sure if thats his turning ability or his long stride and power if you get what im saying!! i have had dogs slightly smaller not much!! that make more of a meal of the run!! its difficult to judge as its all done in a flash!! thanks for the comment!! B Cooper
  18. ive seen a vid of one coursing a rabbit its unreal to think they can do it but i know they can its been caught on tape and youve witnessed it yourself!!! lol youd be better off with a JCB if you were to use one of them little f*kkers ud be digging all day!! on the plus if they bolted a rabbit you wouldnt need a dog theyd come out the hole after it and course it for you!!!
  19. or maybe we should try a teach a stoat to lamp!!!
  20. well done lads !! i was out with Tyla who i arranged to meet up with on here last night!!! got 8 lovely weather for it down my way dark with a constant headwind and a very slight drizzle!! what was it like in your part of town??
  21. after seeing your last post i was thinking that would be a good topic!! my preferance is between 23" to 26" at the maximum i like a variety in a nightly bag if i can get it!!!
  22. i myself feel the same way if it gets the job done does it matter!! but there are a lot of people out there especially people who run lurchers on rabbits around me!! that turn there noses up to bigger dogs almost as if they judge the dog without giving it a chance to show what it can do!! this is really what im trying to see if people generally who run dogs feel big dogs struggle compared to smaller rabbiting dogs!! thanks for the replys so far!! B Cooper
  23. thanks for that!! i agree from a laws of physics kind of view they should be better on the spin!! but on the flipside ive seen some awesome runs from big dogs that would make even a smaller lurcher dizzy!! but as a whole its probably justified!!!
  24. when people see the size of my dog they immiediatly assume he cant turn well on rabbits and struggles due to his size 26"!! i was lead to belive this when first started in the running dog game!! but have since found that size is of no object when running a dog on a rabbit!! and have witnessed just as tight turns coming from bigger dogs as some smaller lurchers i have come across!! who feels that the smaller the dog the better the turning ability is truly justified????? all opinions welcome thanks!!
