  5. thanks missie I really enjoyed today And meeting you all, didn't realise griff hadn't done much before he did a great job on the first run they had!! The only experianced bushings lurcher was unfortunatly not able to run with them!! For a pair of novice bushers the lurchers didn't do bad!! Be great to see them all in action when tylas dogs recover!! Everydog there pulled there weight and made the day a success!! Lovely people great dogs hope I get to come out with you all again soon!!!
  6. ive allways ferreted daytime and just mooched about with my dog as ive not got any terreiers, so when i got an invite to come bushing with a terrier pack this morning i jumped at the chance!! this is the first time ive seen terriers work cover properly and flush to the lurchers and ive got the bug for it now!! Herdwicks little pack of JRT's are a credit to him and know exactly what there doing finding and moving everything they came across and quickley getting the day started flushing a lovely rabbit straight into the path of herdwicks daughters dog and blue, which after a bit of cofusion as
  7. sounds like a member of the taliban !!! try and get a vertical filament aswell if you can (they make a better spot)
  8. it really opened my eyes watching him that night!! will be intresting to see if he starts they way he finished next time i get to run on your ground or if he makes the same mistakes again!! i blame the lamp lol
  9. i know exactly what your saying!! but lets stay with collie xz for arguments sake!! how many of you who have collie in your dogs can honestly say that the collie blood in there lines came from pure hunting proven stock?? not many im guessing!! how many collies are actually out there hunting and working for your theory on tried and tested to tried to tested to be put into action?? this makes at least one parent in the pup a non-hunter im most cases!! does this mean that we should not buy half cross collie greys anymore???
  10. most of the hundreds of pups he breeds go to pet homes, not working homes,he sold a few while I was there all to pet homes, sally runs the farm now as her mum and dad are both getting too old,do the maths mate, you ,like me are probably judging the place as it was years ago and yes the council should shut the place down,go and look at it yourself and honestly tell me if you think its right and proper to churn out pet lurcher's to all and sundry, granted the day I went was a rainy day and the place was sh*t high so it probably wasn't at its best, you think about the money thats gone through that pla
  11. mine started off ferreting with me after he learned his manners!! i find this an easier way of making sure he recalls and is obeying my commands in the field!! then i started him on the lamp and he works perfectly well coming back when the lamps off and not on the slip he runs free!! i used to walk him off the slip with rabbits bolting infront of him and he knows only to go on command i put this down to all the daytime work i did with him before i let him loose in the field at night!!
  12. I asked that on a similar thread yesterday Coop, still dont know how its done? If you lot are antis eat that,c**ts yeah I don't think I have it!! I see it on others profile pages!! But when I look on mine it's blank!! Wierd!!
  13. I'm doing exactly that on some of my permission!! Can't wait to see abit more sport next winter on them!!!
  14. cheers fella!! Yeah he's 3/4 grey x1/4 collie he's 2years 2months!! Nice you got any pics of your dogs you can put up??
  15. i used to leave mine alone during there seasons !! not just for her sake but for the sake of the motor and they boy dogs they were working round lol!!
  16. my dog runs at 26kg hes 26" to the shoulder!! this is his healthy running weight and i try to keep it there!! only run rabbits this is a pic of him mid season!!
  17. there are 3 guest reading this as i type!!! how do you see if somone looked at your profile???
  18. up until now i have had bitches and i must say i felt them easier to train!! when i first started out with running dogs i was advised to go for a bitch everytime as they are more submissive when training!! i got a dog this time round as i had to keep this one indoors and couldnt be dealing whith seasons indoors!! i found him a challenge to say the least testing me and pushing his luck(he still does it somtimes) !! as i have only owned 1 dog i dont feel qualified to say wether or not this is a true statment or if its just a myth!! all opinions welcome
  19. i would have thought that when i went on my mates ground and he realised he had to change his style to suit!! that showed he was infact trying???
  20. Its another reason imho the collie hybred is better with another type of hybred in its make up almost ALL the best allround lurchers i have seen and owned have had a percentage of collie blood in them as well as other hybreds i like the dog but i would definatly like to see abit of beddy and a touch of suluki somwere along the lines
  21. no ive run a few dogs mainly suluki xz this is my first collie x though!! i like it!!! but its a scary thing to witness for the first time i thought he lost his drive!!!
  22. i have a 3/4 grey x 1/4 collie and he right up till recently used to run full tilt towards the rabbits and the runs were really exciting!! but bout december of this season just before he was two i noticed his approach was sluggish even though he could clearly see the rabbit!(wich did start to worry me at first but he still caught them so i couldnt complain i undestand this now as him working it out before he gets there and positioning himself correctly before the strike and often making the rabbits look easy this was all done on my permission grounds and this style of running really works out
