  1. Wirey, Whats that cockin your avatar?
  2. Blaise , is the vegetation used by the dogs as roughage in the diet?....jk
  3. Boris has a big splash of white on his chest....I've got photos , just don't know how to post them......He was a ball of fire and could run like a deer.
  4. Boris was undershot , and was a terrific hard biter, killing large coon single handed, not an easy task.
  5. Boris pedigree shows he is Goulds Spartacus x Goulds Scratch....He was leggy with a strong neck and head, large muzzle and teeth, black broken coat, 22lbs....Strong hunt drive, well worked and proven to large raccoon mostly....Did not produce well having been bred to many different bitches.
  6. Blow it out yur rear hillbilly.....You fit right it with the lying story tellers in the UK.
  7. I would think that in this current climate any person who is a new contact could easily be checked out?.....With the internet and a phone call or 2 you would have all the info needed to say yah or nay.....Well worth the effort to expose these dirt bags.
  8. The game gene?.......Labeling traits such as "game" or "gameness" and applying them to a dog or breed is very misleading, and just a label that can have different meanings to different people.......Gameness likely applies more accurately to pit dogs than to other breeds.....TENACITY seems to be a more fitting term for a digging terrier that stays to his quarry......While both words relate to a dogs aggressive nature , different meanings usually apply respectively......Gameness often comes in varying degrees that can only be determined if displayed under a watchful audience.....Tenacity can be
  9. Obviously breeding bulldogs requires an emphasis on certain traits including gameness, athletic ability, biting power, durability, and endurance among others.......A digging terrier needs their own instinctive qualities like, hunt drive , strong locating skills, staying desire , go to ground appetite, and others......Different needs for each breed, but, the same breeding techniques apply, whether your breeding a greyhound or a beagle.
  10. Vonn your spot on with your prespective on breeding for quality workers.....I do tho think that the human element involved often messes up things. Judgements are made about bringing on and working various dogs that may eventually be used for breeding. Everyones yard stick is not always the same when it comes to proving a dogs worth. One person is satisfied after a single season of only a few shallow digs, while another won't be happy until several seasons and many challenging places have been logged.....Considering the many variable views from different dog owners , even with the best of inten
  11. If there is a flap or loose tissue where the pad is cut, I would cut{ trim} this off to allow for even healing .
  12. ratkilla, your so full of crap , go crawl back in your hole and mind your own business....I have never had a thing to do with you and never will, so blow to somebody who cares......You obviously have a long nose to go with your fat gut!
  13. Dan Edwards, The queer country boy who rates his dogs by how nice an asshole they have!.....A shame....Good waste of dogs.
  14. ratkilla........No manners have you?.....Being a smart ass sure as hell don't show any brains....Lets hear all about your hunting exploits and "killa" dogs , and don't worry about mine.
  15. 2 sides to the loan of a terrier. First is trusting the man you loan the dog to , then there is the man loaning the dog, can he handle being told him his dog wanked ?...... Can be trying for both.
  16. Learned my lesson about kenneling terriers together some years ago, don't do it!, As far as kennels go ,make the kennel long and narrow, not square.....Dogs exercise better in the long ones....JMHO
  17. Nice looking Airedale, but, goofy lookin tail!..... ......I have a bitch Airedale that looks just like that one.
  18. Neil, you are spot on!.....Tight breeding , extreme selection for breeding dogs (and bitches), and crosses to proven well bred lines......There is no such thing as too inbred, only breedings that work out or don't work out.......Keep selecting the best workers of relatives , be they brother, daughter, uncle , grandparent, etc.....The offspring will be your guide.
  19. The question I would pose to all , are there currently any Staffs left in the UK that compare to the Staffs of 40 or 50 years ago in terms of the heart and instinct?.....I think that it is safe to say that the American pit dog is far removed from the original terriers imported to the US some hundred years ago......It seems that in the US and UK today there are many pretenders in both bull types , the bulk of them worthless to a digging man in either country........Nothing worse than a bull type that is not up to the task.
  20. Done, but sadly you will never convince any of those tree hugging lame brains anything....Might just as well put lumps on em , at least you'll feel a bit better.
  21. Tripe is very high content nutrional feed for dogs. It is high in protein, b vitamins and zinc.....A top choice for dogs.
  22. I was talking about when a badger digs on and backfill is left for the dog to find upon entering.
  23. The American badger is indeed dug to here, but, has different habits than the UK version......They are difficult to get a dog to because they will dig away at any sign of an intruder, and in seconds they are tunneled out of contact range......The American badger usually doesn't live in a deep permanent den ,and, moves around an area a mile square or more.....Easy to find an area they hunt in with many short holes that normally are where they dug out mice, rabbits, voles, or other quarry, but best to locate one by spotting them from a distance away and in stealth mode get a dog in a hole to con
  24. Pedigrees often lie.....Bull may have been 3 generations back or more.
