  1. Hi Rowey, bit of a strange position you're in. Legally, i cant see any issues, as long as your 50 ft from roads etc, (use .17 due to rocochet) but i assume the main issue is updetting the locals? dont really know, but I would approach your FEO and possiblly BASC and seek their advice. Good luck mate.
  2. again too late cause your probably out! for me, 6 is a bit early, im out tonight but wont start till half 9 10ish. As before, i find this gives the rabbits more time to adjust. As for pigeons etc, i doubt youll see any. or squirells
  3. after speaking to a couple of farmers/keepers, they MUCH prefer the personal approach. They need to sound you out, and cannot from a letter. I had a deline today, but the farmer thanked me for my time in visiting him.
  4. < plonker. Ive just realised that when i first saw "SAK mod" i thought it was a modification to a rifle and not a moderator! Wheres my tablets!
  5. Thanks for the offer fella. Im not counting chickens so let me get the licence, then ill be in touch!!
  6. Hi mate, Ive actually been into Simpsons at Shepshed today and Nige took the time to show me whats what. (What a great guy by the way) He had the CZ and the Puma in, and they looked exactly the same! (from my untrained eye anyway). The CZ quality is a tad better, but hes selling the Puma in .22 with a 4x12x50 scoper for £250 brand new! - Im sold either way, this is the rifle for me. RE the bunnies round Leicester, theres still a few about where i go, but they are rediculously lamp shy. Went out last night (only with air rifle as not got FAC yet) and had 1, but going again tonight with
  7. i wouldnt have thought this was the case otherwise they would not be able to legally sell them.
  8. You won't go far wrong with that choice mate. I have the Style version but it is practically the same. Accurate no nonsence, reasonably priced tool. Good choice. cheers for the advice mate. are they easy to keep clean/maintain?
  9. Hi all, Am in the midst of applying for my FAC, and was wondering what your views were on the below for a first rifle. I am looking at the .22 CZ 452 Silhouette (Composite stock) How many of you have this rifle, and is it a good first buy? cheers all.
  10. too late because your probably there by now! At that time you will have very little movement i would have thought from pigeons. Are you roost shooting? I would have said that the rabbits would be fine, as i generally dont start lamping until at least 10-11pm. Their confidence improvesd the longer it is dark, and some of my best shoots have fell an hour before first light. Let us know how you got on.
  11. Sorry guys, probably a completely stupid question, but i see a lot of the above mentioned, and cant find anywhere what ot means?
  12. thats the spirit mate, get back out there. Good luck tonight!
  13. is this what your after mate? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BROWNING-HI-VIZ-BIRDBUSTER-SHOTGUN-SIGHT-EASY-FIT-NEW_W0QQitemZ130362640235QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET?hash=item1e5a38076b
  14. First night i watched a shoot on the course was when we had the snow. Absolutely littered with them, and need no lamp! We wore disposable overalls because everything was so white!
  15. Cracking shot! bet your heart was thumping hey? as above, .223?
  16. ive been on 3 shoots were the FAC owner has shot 3 seperate foxes with .22lr at 70-85 yards, all clean kills no problems I would be surprised if it was on his ticket but cant say its not which feo said no minimum legal calibre for fox? I would rather not give his name to be fair, but leicestershire firearms dept will if asked. These were his words, I obviously asked the question as i wanted to get the application right. He had no problem with me applying for 17HMR, but during the conversation said that as there is no minimim calibre for fox, it would not be an offence to shoot one

  18. thats not what she said 32g 5;s mate. Will do the trick no probs.
  19. Cheers for the help fellas, Spoke to the FEO today, what an awesome chap! i took more time than i maybe should have to chat, but he was very, very helpful. He advised to put 22lr and 17HMR no problem (with mods). He also stated that there is no legal min calibre for shooting fox? therefore either the .22 or 17HMR would be fine (range permitting) - but said i was making the right choise for selecting the 17HMR for fox purposes. Sound right guys?
  20. i do use silica gel packs currently, so maybe ill just continue this method. Not happy about installing heating in loft! Only want to move because current location is too small for a 4-5 gun cab, and want it completely out of sight of the kids.
