  1. Im not sure who your refering to, but plenty of people do give their strain of terriers a 'title' or 'brand' as it were... me, i keep blacks, and like many others, i dont like to brand them with any name, they are simply black terriers. However, i know people who keep similar dogs to those shown here, some like to call em fells, some patts, who cares its just a name for fucks sake
  2. The dogs are quite strong and forceful but the bitches are usually steady sounders and very useful, and this has remained fairly consistant. My dogs are fairly tight knit, and im hoping a bit of new blood will open up more possibilities in the future.
  3. Apologies, my first statement wasnt entirely correct, as my first terrier dog was killed by a car many years ago, he had only seen 1 fox. But his replacement worked a long and hard career and is in all of my current terriers, and it shows too. I like to stick to what I know and trust, and to be honest im not looking forward to picking an outcross to use over a bitch of mine next year, but if needs must....
  4. Yes. My first dog, and second bitch, all my terriers since are related to them. But im going to use an outcross next year. Sorry mate no pics, but they are a black terrier.
  5. Id be happy with that, 4 kills from 5 traps. Well done!
  6. Id like to have a go with one of these new snares, but I also feel that they are giving far too glowing a report on them. Firstly, I hope that the profesionals who use these, have plenty of experience with foxes in standard snares, mainly regarding the placement, and if the fox could wrap itself around(or jump over) a nearby obstruction and kill itself. Also there are the obvious other disadvantages over using a cage in an urban setting, ie the damage caused by the fox as it jumps about and scrats all over the place. Also, users will need to be able to confidently and cabably release a badger
  7. Honesty mate, that is what you have given us, and that is what you need in this game mate! Good luck to the future!
  8. From what everyone is saying here, the akita sounds like a bad idea, and probably the worst out of all the spitz/husky type dogs. I would think that the likelyhood of them being dog aggressive would be good enough reason for them to be dismissed as a valid choise?
  9. Try telling the Scandinavians or Russians that the spitz types are no good off the lead!! They would think you were mentally retarded! They are THE most popular hunting dogs over there! And from what ive seen, the Laika breeds are the best hunting dogs out of them all. Also the Scandanavian elk hounds are a decent hunting dog. Most of the spitz/husky types have a primitive hunting instinct and style, and also the primitive fear of strange dogs. Some are worse than others in this respect, but the fact that these dogs are being kept in PET homes will not do them any favours whatsoever and i
