  1. The gavers talking shit mate, rabbits are legal.
  2. My dogs are left every day during the week for 2 hours in the morning and again in the afternoon. It does them no harm, there pleased to see me when i get home though! The pup im getting next week will be with me 24/7 for at least a fortnight, probably a month. I think its good to be able to leave them alone for a few hours, sooner or later there will come a time when you have no choice for whatever reason.
  3. Quote "ther is a man in kent who pays £15 a pelt". Who?!
  4. Personally i prefer dogs. No need to worry about wrong time of the month, keeping them in during it or bleeding etc etc. And if she does get tied by a dog your lumbered with a not really working her during the pregnancy, puppies, and getting her back in tip top condition once the pups are finally weaned. Thats after youve found homes for them all. On the other hand bitches do learn their job faster, so they say!
  5. Ok your question is: Is my dog to big for the job? You went on to say : its working verry well, we dont need to put it on a lead as it will stay by our side, picks up rabbits on the lamp & sometims of too.will jump allmost anything & retreives to hand, it even got a rabbit with big ears the other night when it run out of the lamp. The way i see it is if its JOB is to not need a lead, work very well, pick up rabbits on the lamp, jump almost anything, retrieve to hand, got "rabbits with big ears" and your dogs doing that job then obviously its NOT to big for the job otherwise it wou
  6. As youve got dogs i wouldnt of thought a fenn trap baited with dog food would be the most fantastic of ideas! Lol! Poison applied properly would be the most efficient way of sorting it out. Shooting will take out a few and so will the dogs, a three pronged attack perhaps?
  7. I would be interested in one of the pups mate, how much are they and where you based?
  8. Whenever he DOES catch one give LOTS of praise. Turn the actual chasing and catching of rabbits into a game for him, even throw dead ones for him to chase after. Feed him a few rabbits (freeze them 1st for 3 weeks to kill off tapeworm eggs). Also try to shoot a few rabbits and then walk him round the field and let him "find" them, then give him lots of praise again.
  9. Hi, fantastic post! Im even thinking about trying to do this myself rather than paying for ready made long nets. Thing is im VERY new to the whole longnetting thing. I had one 15 or so years ago, kept tangling the hell out of it and ended up giving it away unused! This was before the quick set thing happened. My question is where can i find a decent net supplier to get the sheet neting from? And where can i get the nylon cord from? Kev.
