  1. Yup thats what he is mate! Brilliant bushing dog, fantastic nose and prey drive through the roof!
  2. I bought a 15 kilo sack of beta puppy once i knew i had a puppy coming so it was there ready. By the time its gone i expect he will be ok with just barf.
  3. Hers a coup[le of pic i took this morning of my beagle x enjoying his barf.
  4. When i was getting him jabbed i told the vet what he was eating and the vet told me that i still should include some proper puppy food as meat etc doesnt contain enough calcium or phosphorus which a pup needs to grow properly. Yeah he happily crunches through the smaller bones and chews on the ones he cant crunch through. Even if the vet hadnt told me that though i still would give him SOME puppy food and certainly the weetabix, kiddies powdered milk and fish mixture. They all get that. Look at this way, if you got to eat a nice juicy steak you would love it............if you got a nice juicy
  5. He obviously doesnt respect you or see you as pack leader mate. Back to heel work, be strict and every time he sniffs something while on the lead, jerk the lead to pull his nose off the ground and firmly say no. Also mean it when you give a command and dont walk away untill he does as hese told. For example "sit"..........."sit"............."sit".........."oh bollox". Thats not the way. Tell him "sit" and if he dont sit say it again firmly and push his arse down. Say "sit" again and hold him for a few seconds till hese settled. Every time he stands up push his arse back down and repeat the sit
  6. I collected my pup at the age of 6 weeks and hese been on the barf diet ever since. With meat and bones laying about for the adult dogs it would be impracticle to keep him away from it and he certainly does like it. As soon as i got him home he grabbed a lump of meat and trotted off into a corner with it! Lol! Although to make sure he gets everything a pup needs he is still on 50% beta puppy as well along with the weetabix, powdered kiddies milk and tins of sardines/tuna.
  7. What i get from the butchers which is most of it, i dont pay for. Its all the offcuts where hese done some boning out so he either gets rid of it via me or licensed waste.
  8. First thing you wanna do mate is find a butcher to get the offcuts from. After that just play it by ear. You wont go far wrong so long as the meat isnt left out to go bad.
  9. Carbs are not nessassery mate. A dogs body can "learn" to use um but theres no real point. They will be more than happy on just meat and bone mate but but a blender full of various veg doesnt cost much and in the wild a dog will eat grass etc so i do give some veg. Personally i do gut my rabbits but you probably dont need to. My terreirs caught a rabbit the other week and had a tug o war with it, the guts came out and were promptly grabbed and swallows by my plummer terrier. It did him no harm! I always pee and gut my rabbits then put um in a carrier bag and freeze um. When im ready to feed um
  10. With the butcher its a case of you get what your given (its free after all), what i dont want ie pig skin and trotters gets diposed of and what i do want gets portioned out and frozen. If feeding rabbits there pissed and gutted then frozen for 3 weeks min to kill off any worm eggs. I feel they need a mixture of red and white meat and the butcher doesnt often include white meat so every now and then i buy them a tesco chicken if i dont have any rabbits. You dont need to mince any of the meat, in fact its better if you dont. A dogs digestive system was meant for dealing with CHUNKS of flesh and
  11. Hi kay, no not cooked. Just a pic taken with my phone and bad light! Lol! Thanks for the compliment!
  12. I get big bags of offcuts from the butchers. Theres rarely any offal in there but when there is my dogs will get that too. When i get it home i have to seperate the good stuff from the rubbish and get rid of the rubbish. By rubbish i mean trotters as my dogs dont bother with them, pig skin etc etc. The good stuff i bag up into daily portion sizes and freeze them then get one portion out each day. As for veg, go and buy loads! My latest batch is 2 apples, 1 orange, 10 carrots, a handfull of peas, 2 heads of brocolli, a leak, a load of fresh herbs. This all gets thrown in the blender untill we
  13. I dont know but i imagine pro greyhound racers would use it when racing everyday but in the world of working lurchers if anything i should think it could be handy as an addition to a dogs bowl of redmills during times of high activety, say if your working him harder than usual or after whelping/weaning pups to help regain condition.
  14. My pups only 9 weeks old and he follows me when i walk the 2 terriers for hour and half - 2 hours in the forest. As soon as he had had his jabs he was on shanks pony, to heavy to carry for 2 hours! Lol! He was doing 45 mins - an hour straight off and then the rest of the walk asleep inside my coat but over a week iv weaned him into staying on the ground all the way. He also walks on tarmac for a total of half hour - an hour each day.
  15. Do yourself a favour, dont use it. If you get the dose wrong it will kill a dog. If it dont kill it it will make the dog spastic. I speak from experience, it made my plummer spastic for 24 hours and i consider myself lucky as he was back to normal after a day. And its a bit more than "dodgy" for collies, it kills um stone dead every time! Its very easy to f**k up using this stuff and if you do you will never forgive yourself.
  16. A hacksaw blade? Your not meant to skin the poor little chap! Lol!
  17. Iv thought about putting my plummer across a whippet in the past, probably will never get round to it but have wondered what they might turn out like though.
  18. Your right, there are a lot of shellsuit wearing, base ball cap on the wrong way idiots out there keeping what i call "4 legged penis extensions"! Trouble is they aint interested in obeying the law so it wont affect them what laws get introduced. Same as after hungerford handguns got banned, it didnt do one bloody thing to stop criminals but it made the govornment look good in the eyes of the uninformed public and they all slapped each other on the back over it and had some more champagne.
  19. I think the best insurance against injury BY the dog is correct training. And the premiums for us will be sky high because the insurance companies will say "well its a dog thats purpose in life is to chase, catch and kill things, its an attack dog and you will pay for the privellidge of owning it".
  20. The news report i saw mentioned neutering too. My dogs are also chipped and insured against injury to the dog but this is a different insurance, as far as i can tell this is insurance against injury BY the dog!
